This is how Americans imagine life in England today, bless them.
The funny thing is Men Without Hats are Canadian
@@Kypduron1 Why is that funny?
@@CymInUA because you said American, but Men without hats are Canadian.
@@Kypduron1 The video is filmed in the UK? with Morris Dancers etc though?
@@CymInUA that's correct, it was filmed in south west England, however it do not negate that you said said American when the group is Canadian... I'm not having a pop at you, I just found the statement ironic because it was incorrect, but yes, you are quite right that the north Americans think that all us English people dress like that and think we say things like "by jove" or speak like the royal family.
The most British sounding song ever with the most British video ever. Makes me proud to be British...................Thanks Canada.
I just wanted to tell you... they are not British (in a closer sense -no Welsh, Scotsmen, Northern Irish or Englishmen) but Canadian.
@@_H__T_ read his comment
@@_H__T_ You need new spectacles lol
The chord arrangement in the verse is incredibly Scottish to me, mind you.
And the Killers ? Why do Poms claim everything? Well all English speaking derived from there, I’ll claim Pink Floyd sans bighead Waters
The Morris Men dancing in this video were the Chippenham Town Morris Men and they were known as the “Men Without Hats” because they were unusual in the Morris tradition to not wear hats. My brother Andy Gifford was a member and it is so lovely to find this video from 1982 and see him dancing again. Andy sadly died in October 2022 from advanced MS. The MS stopped his dancing many years ago. Five members of the Chippenham Town Morris Men danced for Andy recently at the scattering of his ashes, with a gap among the dancers at Andy’s position. RIP Andy. I miss you. Mary x
Thanks for sharing that. I hope you have many happy memories of your brother Andy. Rip Andy Gifford.
A gap like you mention is called a 'missing man' formation. Much respect to your brother.
Was it take that?
@@marygifford9859 clarifies alot cool to know and sorry for your loss. Hats off voor Andy!
Since Sauron is defeated, I have the feeling the Shire is getting out of Control 🤨
This was filmed in Gondor.

One of the best produced slices of synth pop from the 1980's
Tyrion, Cersie and Jaime played together so much nicer back in the day
Oh yeah!
Don’t worry. You’re not the only one who is listening to this masterpiece in 2024!
42 years old!
42 years ago, I'm getting old! I recall watching this quirky video on TV when it was released.
Can we all just go back to the 80s and value this band more than we did? They deserved waaaaaay more recognition. What a band, sooo many songs I love and the full sound and most of all Ivan's rich, deep voice & good looks?!
Criminally underrated band but still one of the best we've ever had.

Get a reality check. Talk to your father (if he didn't leave) or mother about life in the 80's.
You wouldn't be saying this if you were from Post Yugoslavia, CCP or from Europe
People: "This song is about safe sex!"
Other people: "This song is about nuclear war!"
The artist: "This song is about being allowed to dance how you want in a nightclub"
No its not about safe sex, its about having lots and lots of hobbit sex in the shire. Its about Frodo baggins and Sam enjoying a good old gangbang with Orcs . Gandalf is the bouncer at the door or this orgy saying "YOU WILL NOT PASS" t anyoen with a small dick. Gollum is near by masterbating while saying PRECIOUS......

@@anthonyroberts6810 Iconic Song and iconic Frontman
Just located all these spots after watching a video about it.
It's a little village called West Kington, near Bristol and the Cotswold's.
The drystone wall at the beginning is difficult to spot as it's well off the road, though it is visible from the road below. That road is just before the fork where the blond (journalist, Louise Court) dances into view, which is on Shire Hill, just after the junction with Drifton Hill, about 1.5 miles West of the village. The fork is marked on Google Maps with the words, "Safety Dance clip"
They then enter the village along Drifton Hill, passing the old cottages with the red letterbox and low wall before arriving at the bridge where the Morris Dancers are. It's by the side of this bridge that you can see the gate and the electric post is still there - exactly the same as it was 40 years ago (at the side of Brook Farm).
Just a few yards along from the bridge and Brook Farm is the entrance to a farm courtyard on the left. This is where the festival takes place and you can see the buildings, including the tractor garage, from the entrance.
None of it has changed much since this was filmed. Just some minor renovations.
Filmed in West Kington village UK. Great old Classic
Perhaps the greatest music video of all time…
I can't believe I've known this song for nearly 40 years, since I was 13 and I've only just found out the video was filmed just up the road from where I live, where I've driven and cycled many times...
Where was this Vedio filmed?
@@tendainjini6712 West Kington, North Wiltshire, UK.
@@tendainjini6712 South west England.
Life is funny sometimes.
And I only got one of the cast of It Aint Half Hot Mum living near me. I feel cheated!
I've heard this song so many times and never actually seen the video clip. Was not expecting this, but I'm definitely not disappointed
Love the synth sound and the song in general. Great English country side. It's a fabulous tune. If this ever got to be remade, the Lord Of The Rings set in New Zealand would be perfect.
Good times, innocent, uplifting music
The choreographer couldnt have done a better job,its perfect
I like how this song went through three phases of relevancy in pop culture after its initial success period in the early 80s. First in the early 2000s it found popularity as "Anakin if he never joined the dark side" jokes from the Star Wars prequels, then in late 2000s WoW players stuck in Naxx on Heigen and then in early 2010s "Jamie, Cersei and Tyrion in the good ending" from Game of Thrones.
What is the WoW one?
@@Captain_Of_Charisma In the original Naxxramas raid in vanilla WoW, one of the bosses was called Heigan the Unclean. To kill him players had to do a sort of dance running around his arena that was dubbed "safety dance". A lot of the Heigan kill compilations from the time included this song as a result.

A normal Thursday in any English village.
Not a cell phone in sight. Just people living in the moment.
Everybody dancing around the maypole on the village green😊
The English cities are much different
This song and video were truly epic. Hard to believe it has been 40 years since it entered the charts! They still appeal.
This is a typical midsummer afternoon in the country in England. 😂
I grew up with this song. It's a classic, indeed. It set the standard in the 80s.

F for the old video that was apparently taken down, where we had in the comments several people that live or continuously visit the area around that farm and that even had anecdotic stories about the video filming and the kindness of the singer. =(
