I really love this interview. Him reflecting on his past work from the 70s and how his mind has changed since then, how he feels more comfortable in his own skin as a performer, how he thinks about societal problems in relation to his work... Everything that comes out of his mouth is so thoughtful and insightful... I personally like his hair and outfit in this too... And his laugh at 7:49 is so charming! Thanks for the upload :)
Thanks for uploading this. I remember watching it as a 15 year old when it was first shown. I've watched a lot of Bowie interviews since then but I still think this is him at his most interesting and charismatic.
Thanks for the upload! A really good interview. I thought, ah you've edited the music out, that's good because I've heard them a trillion times and then I read your description. hehe In later interviews he famously always said that this era, the 80's, he was least happy with artistically, but he really looks at peace here. He'd earned millions of his last tour, this might've had something to do with it. Blue Jean, Loving the Alien, This is Not America are among my personal favorites from the 80's. Not forgetting ofc Let's Dance & China Girl & Time Will Crawl. I could go on and on.. PS I know Bowie really stood by the eighties stuff because he played them live much later on in his career.
Someone pointed out how nice his neck is - in a past watched clip - now I can't keep my eyes off it... darn you person!!! Will be imparting this gift on someone else now lol. Sorry.
It is not physical perfection. It MUST be something else. Maybe a mixture of selfconfidence without being arrogant combined with the intellectual? Hard to say.
I recorded this on Betamax when it came out when I was a kid, must have watched it hundreds of time but not once for at least 25 years so thanks for uploading it,great to see it again!
The rest of the feature was clips of various videos/promos, and the upload got nuked straight away when I tried to upload the whole thing, so I had to edit them out... :/
The man giving the introduction was John Walters. Very funny & entertaining was Mr Walters , a bit like a more gregarious Stephen Smith of Newsnight. Apart from fronting TV progs he was John Peel's producer and ( according to Morrissey) was the one who actually saw the Smiths play live & booked the for a session.
+Oscar Huber what does it mean? I must admit I didn´t get that one, maybe because my mother language is not english. But my man was from Liverpool, so I thought I´d understand lots of sayings ;-) Obviously not this one, though.
This is the only hairstyle I don't like on David.....still charisma and magnetism coming out of every orifice even with that ridiculous jumper one of which I had which was very similar to that in the 80s at 17...
He was so smart & very self aware. He was a true artist with his music & painting. RIP...David. You will be missed!!
Handsome!!!
God I love this guy... never fails to be absolutely entrancing.
His voice is so soothing. Great interview.
A beautiful person thank god we've got his music forever ☺

A very grounded man

Hope you've seen any Dutch interviews on RUclips as they seem the best revealing to me.

haha, I've got the gift, thank you

Did you have to say that ? Now I’m watching it thinking “don’t look at his neck, don’t look at his bloody neck”

Thats because you bought Betamax 😂
@@nasdkhan254 not with you old son?
adorable clip
amazing interview~~ gosh he's gorgeous
I have this somewhere , thought there was more than this ! His mittens always reminds me of Albert Steptoe !
The rest of the feature was clips of various videos/promos, and the upload got nuked straight away when I tried to upload the whole thing, so I had to edit them out... :/
if anyones got the whole Video Jukebox converted and able to send over the internet I'd love to hear from you
I would oblige but I'm on a stone age broadband connection at the moment... sorry.
Thats a shame, if it ever improves maybe you could use WeTransfer to send it over?
Check out that jumper lol don't worry I had one just the same in the 80s....love you David xxxxx
me too..loved those huge sweaters
He looks very huggable here
THATS MY EXACT THOUGHTS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE VIDEO OMG-
Lovely upload (pesky copyright laws, never understood them well in youtube)
sorely missed
Eloquent, intelligent, entertaining and beautiful - almost a perfect human being.
Can we talk about his hair? He looks like Mike the Cool Person
+Clickbait cancer, mate "Caption! Thank you."

Indeed. Walters did a lot more to shape Peel's shows during the '70s than people might think.
sad about mr walters,,,,left us too soon
And according to Mark E Smith he asked The Fall to do their first Peel session too
❤😍😘
7:49 :-)
+Newcastle and the "back to the rear soldier" too! ;)
+Oscar Huber what does it mean? I must admit I didn´t get that one, maybe because my mother language is not english. But my man was from Liverpool, so I thought I´d understand lots of sayings ;-) Obviously not this one, though.
+Newcastle He imitated the accent of an officer telling his subordinate to go back to where he belongs instead of a simple thank you.
+Oscar Huber thanks :-)
+Newcastle
He didn't say, "back to the rear soldier" .
He said, " worked on the rehearsal John".
Good that.
Bowie rilascia sempre ottime interviste.....intelligente e ironico....così cool e così british...love forever
I am enchanted:)
He looks alike typical English Gentleman
what does he say at 8:05 ?
The only thing he never sported: sideburns.
This is the only hairstyle I don't like on David.....still charisma and magnetism coming out of every orifice even with that ridiculous jumper one of which I had which was very similar to that in the 80s at 17...
I agree, it is perhaps the only hairstyle I don’t’like on him. It is the fashion of the period.
Gitanes?
He'd switched to Marlboro by then.
@@rm009z0858 Ok 😃
ok...
fingerless gloves . wow
Didn’t David have a lovely laugh?
Timmy Mallet!
No ego
easily the worst look-haircut of his career
Those days we all looked that stupid...but: compared to His 1975 dreamy red..
I think it's not that bad lol could be better without fingerless gloves tho
noo he looks so cutee :3
A musical genius, but that video / dance with Jagger was just awful, embarrassing, not either of their finest moments.
