this man was and still is unparalleled in his approach towards art and life. he was such a monument of humanity. a pioneer of creativity, a sacred vessel that kept on giving and giving until he could not physically give any longer. i am eternally grateful for his spirit. he moved me and still does to this day. i hold his words safe, i keep them in my heart. authenticity is what this world needs and what it has lost since he died.
Carman is there some reason why you think young people would be more creative? In my experience they’re all being rebelliously different in exactly the same way.
Well you have more to pull inspiration from as you age. That’s the way you should try and develop, use your experiences to grow as an artist. Most people these days aren’t really artists or at least they aren’t free enough to be one. A lot of artists seem to be in bad contracts and probably don’t have enough creative control, and the ones that seem to be, aren’t really original. They’re interested in pushing an image forward instead of any substance.
@@visionary9385 originality is overrated. I have no musical talent at all and I can sit down at the piano and just bang keys. It’ll be totally original I guarantee it. 😂😂😂😂
One of the most kindest, beautifully mannered funny, amazing man. His music is art, he is art. His intellect and collection of experiences are priceless. Just like Jareth at the end of Labrynth he has flown into an amazing cosmos...
I have loved Bowie's music for decades, and not until his death did I investigate the divine MAN behind the music...and the Force that manifested the music, was a pricelessly compelling, Artist to the core
I'm not sure Bowie knew what an innovator he was as an artist. Everything he did he never imitated anyone but always followed his own vision. As a person he seemed very genuine and thoughtful. Like he was just a nice guy who happened to be a creative genius.
"I can get quite negative, when I get into my own thing. When I'm just in my own mind, it's so dangerous neighbourhood" He never knew me, so how could he describe me so accurately. I deeply miss you Angel. He was an Inspiration for everyone who felt lost somewhere on the way. And he is absolutely right. I'm working at a regular job, but I'm also a painter and my very best paintings came just out of my mind. He was such a wonderful soul
A genius. He stunned me once more- I’ve been loving him for decades and only now I learn that he developed a phrase scrambler program so that he could get new phrases from broken ones.
Yet he was such an early adopter and major proponent of the internet; he was incredibly visionary in terms of realising the utility and revolutionary nature of it. Seemed so inspired by it.
Bowie wasn't just an artist... he was and always will be a work of everlasting art... imitated by many, duplicated by done. Love you David... love everlasting.
Such a marvelous looking man and that voice and way of speaking I could watch this forever. Just imagine getting to hang out with him. His friends, and colleagues must have felt quite a hole in their lives when he passed.
I love this movie, and show it to my Art Media Techniques class every year. Bowie is amazing, and so are the other artists that the movie covers: Tadao Ando, Dale Chihuly, Louise Lecavalier, the late Roy Lichtenstein, Edouard Lock, and Nora Naranjo-Morse

I love and cherish this interview of David, encapsulates his beautiful mind and talent. He was art itself. In many ways, I dont feel he has left planet earth, he has gifted us so much, will continue to influence art and music for many many decades. David was way ahead of his time.
I feel very strongly the need to comment, I can’t articulate the words of how this has impacted me at this time. I’m sure you have that feeling at times…
David Bowie was a true genius and gentlemen. some of the things that he is said that you look back on our pretty profound when you watch dozens of interviews I'm amazed with his intelligence and always holds a gentleman composure. it would have been awesome to have been able to hang out with him for a day and got to ask him about anyting in his videos and about all the great times that he had out on the road back in the day , it was so awesome to watch his career from beginning to end it was amazing,
Thank you for including the dance segment towards the end; I rented this DVD years back and the Bowie bits and the dances are the strongest bits. That dance performance gives me double goosebumps
Just found this and it is exactly what I needed to keep going. David Bowie's music always resonates with me, and this compilation makes me see how articulate he was in a way that explains exactly how I feel about art and our (artists) place in the world. Will be watching this again...and I wish I had a Verbisizer...oh the surrealist work it would inspire! Thank you.
+thevisitor If you watch the Bowie documentary "Cracked Actor" (which is on YT) you can see him cutting up written words on paper to create little cards and switching them around to create lyric lines.
Great job! When I saw the exhibition "David Bowie-Among the Mexican Masters" there was a video loop of exactly that playing on a large screen in the center of the space. I thought that was what I was watching just now!

The whole DVD might be really great but this series of cut out is fantastic, and even the 'poor' editing is adding spice to it. Because i did not read your description and had no idea it was a cut out from whatever, and so these glimpses of other poeple around creating were great illustration of life and creativity at work,... and adding a very tiny bit of nonsensical disturbing chaos in the editing, given the topic (which I thought was Bowie Inspiration) did not harm indeed. Thanks twice then. I love his words on what being an artist is about..... "Always remember that the reason you initially started working is that there is something inside yourself tht you felt that if you could manifest it in somehway you would understand more about yourself and how you coexist with the rest of society" ..... and..... Very interesting, thank you for uploading, I am really very impressed by DB and his approach to art. I appreciate him so much. I think the whole film must be interesting.
Bowie did a little dance with the female dancer you see in the end in 1989 on stage and then filmed it for his 1990 world tour. so he did that too in his career.

And he dared against all and against his time and all the time tides- until becoming pure art- from the artist he was, and still is.
"can I get a coffee.... and a drummer".
That bit tickled me only Bowie would say that 😂
At Age 50, bowie was still more creative than most young artists

If you wanna be accurate in credits, cut-up is Brion Gyssin's invention. :) Bowie often credited to both, Gyssin and Burroughs. :)
