“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams.
Just watched an interview of him on the Dick Cavett show. It's amazing how when we age our mannerisms become more refine and precise. We become better versions of ourselves. I think we all need to do interviews at 20 and then at 50 using the same questions. It would be interesting to see how our mannerisms would evolve.
Brilliant mind, having up and downs, but the end reaching peace, consolidating his extraordinary life with Art, music and his journey to accomplish his best...being himself.
Great to visit on his 75th. Did smoking contribute to an early death? Perhaps, but it wouldn't matter after having such a successful life ultimately. His creativity as a life force continues to inspire me.
Interesting to see him get interviewed by The Turtles, based on their look id say this was probably not long before or after they were touring with Frank Zappa
Mark Voleman & Howard Kaylen who went on to perform with Frank Zappa. Bowie was always very intelligent & interesting. So blessed to have seen him on his reality tour it was phenomenal.
@@hawkwind7by7 I remember hearing about David Bowie wanting to leave music behind to train as a monk. A monk he faced on his journey, told him to do music instead :D

Hi Ronan, the interviewer for the part between 11.58 and 14.00 was Mavis Nicholson, for her Thames Television programme, Afternoon Plus in 1979. Much of the other clips are from the Michael Apted DVD documentary, Inspirations.
Why? Why? Did he left us? He and others special genius (as Lennon) should be eternal Thanks God he is here inside my heard. A great human being (and a handome man, of course).
David Bowies philosohic views over his life. Some I agree with and others not. In his first interview he said he believed in an energy source. Also he loved life. He never seemed to acknowledge God.
Perhaps he didn't name his higher power as "God" to choose not to put himself in a religious box to later be scrutinized, judged or misquoted by the press.....Or perhaps it's no one's business in who or what he chooses to believe in.....which it's not anyone's concern.
"is this smoke bothering you?" " Not at all. It adds to the mysterious you were just talking about." So much empathy there. Love it.
She was a good interviewer too, very intelligent and observant and got interesting answers out of her subject. Bravo.

All the time. Most apparent in silent meditation.
I don’t know why, but taking a moment to ponder this quote, has momentarily alleviated my anxiety.
The world lost a special person when he died. I grew up with him and loved him. Hes engrained in my life. This was great to watch, thank you.
Damn.... I miss this man. As I'm sure many, many do.
A musician with a mind. A philosopher so to speak.
A mystic
I wish I could have met him. I hope he’s enjoying his eternal journey through the cosmos
He is. And he's journeying AS you, as everyone and everything. Just like everyone is.

I can listen to him singing or talking all day...
I love David Bowie's 'Never play to the gallery'. So damn true and it continues to inspire me to try and push myself
this man will forever live in music, he swims in it, he glides through it, slices through it like butter

His speech on the internet and what it will become is amazing
He'll be seen the way we see Alan Watts, in a new generation. Thirty years, fifty years from now.
He is still fascinating I reckon
This whole vid is fucking great but that last clip man....God I feel so seen

I wish he hadn't smoked for so long. I fear it was a big contributor to his early death.
