    I worked with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in in the early 1990s. We erected 32 treated poles with 4' X 4' platforms on the tops to provide nest sites for Ospreys. We didn't build any nests on them. By the time nesting season arrived, all of the platforms had huge, occupied nests on them. You've done a super job at Crimson Oak! ! !

    That was a Hawk moth. They come out at night especially just before dark night and in the morning. They are almost spitting image of a hummingbird in air, but they don’t have tail feathers, naturally. They are great for evening flowering plants like evening stock. We get them here in Southern Alberta, Canada as well. During the day you can find them in plant pots if they are hanging around. They may be in the trees there.

      @troybing6665 8 месяцев назад

      Have any of you seen a real Eagles nest, I doubt it, not that they can’t make a nest on that platform but it’s to low and Eagles like the highest tree usually overlooking a river and a big lake.

    • @jimmyhughes5392
      @jimmyhughes5392 8 месяцев назад

      @@troybing6665 you're missing the point, even if it was high enough and an eagle wanted to build a nest up there, there is a reason there is an upside down tree stump nicknamed the oak throne submerged in the pond. without a barrier or windbreak a nest will be blown off before it's even half built, having branches secured around the edge if anything will at least provide a natural perching point for birds to land on compared to the square cut wood currently on offer and on the off chance a nest does get built its going to help retain it.

    This is a great idea, we can learn so much from placing a camera on a Bass to see thier behaviors, and feeding habits. please continue the camera on Bass.

    My vote would be for Tiger to be reacclimated to the 5 acre pond. Let his genetics spread, as he could be king of that underwater castle. By chance have you thought about stocking some crappie in the pond? Love this series, and yes the lightning is spectacular. Cheers from California...

    Great video! I would def leave the tower alone. See what the pond provides naturally. If you go a year or two with nothing then you can add a nest

    More bass POV! That was rad. I think Tiger should get a little bit bigger before heading into the pond just because of that osprey. But that doesn't seem like it'll be long.

    Definitely add some large branches to the nest. Get it going for em. The chance of eagles building there is slim IMO but you'll definitely get something in there if you build a nest...owls, ducks, osprey. Gonna be tough to get an eagle unless you get a newly bonded pair that doesn't have a previous nesting site.

    love this series so much, i think a great name for a bass would be “Tank”!
    i definitely think you should leave the platform for a more natural nest, but i’m also all for you upping your chances for the nest to be used.
    thanks for the constant updates and videos! if you ever do it public/reserved public event i would do my best to make it, it’d be a once in a lifetime experience to see a farm/Pond this beautiful.
    much appreciation, stay safe!
