You should set up an antenna on the eagles nest, that way if a tagged fish becomes a meal you’ll know that you can take them out of your database.
Great idea wow
Or track the eagles hehe
Brilliant idea!
@@jerrylegendman2544 Doesn't sound legal
The type of lichen on the tree is fruticose. As someone else mentioned it's a great indicator of air pollution being low. It doesn't harm the tree however and you'll find the deer will make quick work of it in winter - it's a great snack for grazing animals.
I'd like to add that lichen on a MIGHT be an indicator of slow growth, as the trunk growth is slower than the lichens ability to fasten(as most trees grow, it shreds the outer layer of bark, like dead skin, so lichen and other organisms have a harder time fastening). Of course there are many factors, and you can't conclude that a tree is slowly growing only because of that. I know when valiuating the cost of tree damage compensation, lichen growth lowers the compensation cost(it might only be aesthetic). I haven't ever heard that it's straight up damaging. It seems like you are kind of a nutrient nerd, and if you want a faster tree growth, you could consider doing a soil analysis, and see if the trees have all the nutrients it needs for optimal growth. This is just what I have been taught in school as a future forrest manager. I loooove your videos, please keep up the good work. Kind regards from Denmark.
Just completed binge watching the whole pond build series
It's simply "wowsome"
I have no idea about fishing what so ever but looking at pure the excitement when someone catches a fish is awesome
How about naming the eagles: Liberty and Freedom. You know, American Bold Eagle 🤣 and they are damn good free flyers.
Ever thought of putting a border on the eagle tower so the nest wouldn’t fall , and maybe start the basic skeleton of a nest 🪹 let the eagles finish it off
as a Licensed raptor breeder who breeds hawks and falcons in captivity, this is an EXCELLENT idea. the skeleton of the nest would really inspire them that the tower is a good place for a family, and the eagles will add to the whatever skeleton nest is set up.
@@geoffhirschi803Won't the owls attack them when they are sitting in the nest at night?
The owls stand no chance against an adult bald eagle and I doubt they would mess with the nest@@remcov2130
They said they're going to in the last video and start a bit of a nest AND fix the giant gaps in the tower
@@remcov2130 Not if they want to stay alive. A bald eagle is 6x the size of the biggest of the owls in Alabama.
No "lip" for the Eagle's platform? You asked a couple of weeks ago. Something to keep twigs and potential nesting material from blowing off. A 2x6" lip would help. Something for sure!
The slow mo of the fish jumping is awesome footage - been keeping up with the pond build since the start. Love the channel and the quality you put out.
This is such an incredible journey. I’ve been watching the process since the start and these weekly videos make my life complete. As soon as I see a new video has been uploaded I get a rush of joy. Thank you for creating this great project. I’m excited for what you have planned for the year.
That vacuum through the pipe is an ingenious way to get a cord to go through!!
Electricians have all sorts of neat tricks to get wires through conduits. Sucking a "mouse" through is the tip of the iceberg...
Yes my most favorites series on youtube finally got an update.
these are so much more than updates about the pond. it’s the whole ecosystem and that’s really want keeps bringing me back. so jealous of this little paradise you’ve made!
It is really cool! I just found this channel today and its so awesome! I too am jealous
Thank you for your wholesome videos. So many cool sciebce projects happening on your property
On another note related to the Rainbow Trout, if you want them to reproduce I was thinking you could make a creek/stream system that loops out and back into the main pond. It could have features dotted and connected throughout the creek system such as gravel beds, waterfalls, rapids, mini ponds, marshes, bridges, sandy beaches etc... heck, it could even be connected to the Aquascape pond too, but I'm not sure about that. It might also be a cool project for the Aquascape guys to come work on. It would also be interesting to see how the other fish react and move about the creek like trout trying to jump over a waterfall or trout spawning in a gravel bed for example (and take it from me who lives in Alaska, watching Salmonids spawn is a sight to behold).
Edit: One thing I didn't factor in was the water temperature and how far south Alabama was. However, I still think the creek idea would be really cool to add to the pond even if it's not possible to keep the rainbow trout alive. I'm also wondering if there are alternative fish species that uses flowing water to spawn and can survive Alabama's summer temperatures? I've researched that White bass go upriver to spawn, maybe they or something similar could work?
I agree, This would be a great project!
It probably wouldnt be worth it. Natural trout reproduction in Alabama would most likely be close to zero
That would be amazing
would love to see some high current waterscape for the trout
The water temperatures are waaaay too high during the summer for trout to survive. Anything over the lower 70s F and they're goners.
The moss on the tree is good. Means that the air quality is good.
Very good, as moss holds water which trees love. 😅
It can also mean the tree itself is in poor condition
@@Mjones8383 That is not the case with the tree in question.
@@Mjones8383have to remember how far south he his... I greet up there. Moss like that is everywhere
also if it is lychen it is great uv protection
Been watching this series since the start … Finally made a profile and able to comment … Just wanna say thank you as I watch your content from beginning to end … Brings peace, excitement and happiness … Your family is amazing and here’s 🍻 to the next million subs … Keep rocking BamaBass 😊🎉❤
So graceful! Fred and Ginger.
Im an industrial programmer. Watching this gices me so many ideas! To solve the first issue that you mentioned, referencing the tag number with the name of the fish, you could set up a simple SQl database. You could then FIND the name from a "names" database to update the name in your "live" database. I think the issue that you will run into is user experience. Entering new names, organizing the data, and Most importantly, the interface. My idea is you could have a map of your pond with live data, showing where the fish are at any given time. I work a lot with a software called Ignition. A software like ignition can manage your databases, show live and historical data, and allow you to enter new fish names/weights/etc. there are a lot of really cool things you could do with this, and it would be relatively simple! Can't wait to see what you decide!
We are considering using ignition on this project. I may reach out to you if we have some questions!
@@BamaBass It's pretty robust. Seen it deployed and work well in water and waste water treatment plants as an alternative to IFix.
@@BamaBass you can certainly reach out to me. I have a lot of experience developing Ignition.
Try wiring on some 3 to 4 inch branches accross the eagle platform, for roosting spots and to help hold a nest in place. Also some form of shade or protection from the elements above the platform might be good as well
Well needed
This is one of the coolest things I've seen. I subscribed after watching one video of you draining the smaller pond. This is WAY cooler! Fascinating stuff man!
We call that a parachute in the electrical trade. Love watching your videos and updates. Thank you.
I never knew I was so interested in the ecosystem of a pond until you started putting yours on YT. 😀👍
how about George and Martha Washington for the bald eagle pair?
Dang, you beat me to it!
I was thinking the same thing
You and family great work!!!!
Yea i want that Live Scope set up!!!
I would love to see an episode on how much money the pond build cost so far and if you had to do it all over what you would do different knowing what you have learned from this build. This is one of the most informative channels on the pond building process. Awesome channel
You should put antenna on Eagle tower to see if they eat tagged fishes.
Gertrude And Sylvester
Liberty and Justice
This seems a fitting for the eagles .
@@donaldpiper9763someone said liberty & freedom. I'm like those 2 names. Lol
I wonder if it’s safe for them to be eating lots of tags
The tagged fish are too big. And if they did they would just poop it out.
@@bobsmith6544 it’s more just to know if a tagged fish is caught, FYI in my neck of the woods Bald eagles fly off with small cats and dogs often. 2 or 3 pounds is nothing to them.
I love watching your channel. I have been watching since the beginning. I have turned on some friends when watching TV is overwhelming. Dating myself....your voice is very soothing and trustworthy like Marlin Perkins. I my book, the highest compliment I can give! Keep up the great work!
He is to young to remember him😊

YOUR BASS HAVE GOTTEN SO BIG! LOVE IT!!
The bag trick on the cable is awesome!! Learn something new everyday!
It is a type of lichen on the tree it is an air plant that can live symbiotically with the tree and is a great indicator of the air quality as they do not use the sun and chlorophyl like most plants but instead get nutrients from the air.
Exept lichen are not plants, they are fungi with symbiotic algee or cyanobacteria inside.
Names for the Eagles could be Stadtler and Waldorf - the two grumpy old men in The Muppet Show.
Perfect name for them, after seeing how they can be grumpy with each other whilst watching everything from up above!
Love it!
Perfect !
Awesome video ty for sharing and explaining the fish finder extremely helpful
Oh wow you got the gates in! So that sonar does down firing and side scanning? Nice!
I love how you're slowly becoming the NSA for bass lmfao. Seriously though this is awesome, can't wait for you to expand the system. The data could really be invaluable to other fishkeepers if you choose to share it at some point, showing where the fast growers hang out and what conditions they like
Love the series. Seriously some of the best, most wholesome content on RUclips. I think the eagles should be named Liberty and Justice. Keep it up!
Looks great
Nice addition
What about a duck decoy to float the antennas? Would they be strong enough to float them? It would look a little more “natural” too.
I think he used to have decoys in the pond for the ducks to feel comfortable, dont remember what happened, maybe the eagles and owls were attacking and flipping them too much.
Heck of a tracking system you have installed. That should add an element of fun and data collection toy your whole process. Also curious about the growth on the trees. Hope you follow up on that. Thanks for sharing!
Yet another Great Vid! Been watching since the beginning of the Pond Build, and am amazed at the speed, and success you have had in this project. You mentioned something about wild flowers, should you go that rout, might I also suggest a few dozen Bee🐝 hives as well? NOTHING beats Fresh Raw Honey. Best of luck with all your efforts in the future.
This is so cool seeing the wildlife around the pond, love bald eagles
The bald eagles have really made a come back in the southeastern US. I am in the floirda panhandle and never saw them growing up, but we have a nesting pair in the neighborhood with a nest right next to the lake. I saw a juvenile flying with one of the adults for the first time the other day. They stick around all year, unlike the ospreys.
I live way north, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. There was a news story just the other day about how for the first time, a pair of bald eagles have made a nest in the city! We see eagles every once in a while here, but its the first actual nest that's been recorded. The location is being kept pretty hush hush so people don't disturb it, but it looks like they're starting to expand their habitat all the way into Canada's biggest city!
@@K1ddkanuck That's great news! I bet it's near a lake or pond somewhere.
@Steve-ev6vx It surely is. Toronto is a waterfront city with an active fresh water port. We have a really dense, lush river valley cutting through the entire city from north to south called the Don Valley. It's a beautiful place that you could literally spend an entire day hiking through. You'd totally forget you're in the 4th largest city in North America. Fairly sure it's somewhere in there along the river. That or it's on the Toronto islands or at the Leslie Spit, which is a massive reclaimed wetland in the harbour (Lake Ontario) where you can literally see deer, beavers, foxes, coyotes, turtles etc., yet you're surrounded by skyscrapers. If Toronto does one thing really well, it's integrating dense nature and wildlife into a metro of around 8 million people
Growing up we would see one on a rare occasion. These days in Nebraska its a rare occurrence I don't see one on a drive over an hour long. I've come close to hitting several with my truck while they scavenge road kill. Their numbers are drastically improving in the midwest.
There is one section along the river where they congregate during the winter months. I counted 13 within a half mile stretch, that was wild!
They are doing decent up here in NW PA too. I see alot around where I live.
Names for the Eagles: 1) Vega - a constellation in the summer sky also known as the “Swooping Eagle” and 2) Migisi - Chippewa for eagle
Fooled me. I thought damn they put some serious thought into it…then I googled eagle names 🤣
Imagine looking up eagle names
He could have googled eagle names too, but I think the entire point is to be creative...
@@SchwobFishingyeah…imagine
I think this pond has more technology in and around it then what the US has sent into space! The bag/ vacuum trick has to be one of the coolest things I’ve ever learned. I don’t even fish and live in urban New Jersey, but still watch this channel religiously. ❤
I love watching you do a hour video or post more short ones
Congrats to 1 million followers!!! 🎉
That's gotta be one of the highest tech ponds I've ever seen! My contributions for eagle names would be Constitution and Independence
connie and indy? connor and penny?
This is incredible!
Congrats on the million 🙏🏽🫶🏾🫶🏾
I always look forward to your video updates! When there isnt any new videos I always go back to when you built your back yard pond!! Maybe one day I will be able to get one built with a couple of trout for mine!!! And then I can have something new for my channel!!
we love the updates
I really enjoy these videos
Brother I've watched you for along time all the way back to you two fishing a specail pond. I must say this is the best idea on u tube. Home run. I love it.
What that ffs setup called. What kinda investment

Man you have it going, you have stuff that I have never heard of. NICE
Names for the eagles, Maverick & Goose! 😎
Love the videos! Been following since the very beginning of the pond build. You’re living a dream come true 🙏
Hello from the San Fernando Valley aka “The Valley” in California. My girlfriend and two chihuahuas love watching your channel. Keep up the good work! Please keep it going!
Plants often form essential relationships with fungi and lichen. That green one probably is what allowed the original crimson oak to get so huge👍
Look forward to this every Sunday!
I have no idea why I love this Chanel so much. I’ve seen every episode and it isn’t even close to my other favorite channels. I’ve never been so excited to name a fish before. Mine didn’t get picked and I was legitimately upset! lol. BANANAS
I'm happy for the four people that had their bass names chosen. It will make episode watching much more interesting for them, waiting for their bass to be caught and logged. 😊
Love Sundays been waiting all day
Your property is phenomenal!
love the kingfisher
You sould add natural stickd on the eagle tower. Take like a branch and screw it in so they just have a snall start to get some holding on tbe pallets
A perfect name for the eagles would be Liberty and Freedom! Keep up the videos, been enjoying them for years now.
Been waiting for this all morning
Thanks
I saw the “bass love spiders” video a year ago and just came across this channel again. This project is amazing, never seen someone do it on this scale. I feel like we have to see a snorkle/scuba diving video in the pond 😂
I like the names Smith and Wesson for the Eagles their accuracy with fishing!
This promises to be very interesting indeed. Nice for sure.
Change the color on your livescope to blue you'll thank me. The clarity of the blue background is unbeatable
Splash and Stoop for the Eagles 😍
For the 2 Bald Eagles, George and Martha sound fitting after George Washington and his wife Martha Washington
Good idea
I like this too, good idea
My vote
This is the name I call my local nesting pair too, definitely a great suggestion.
I was thinking the same thing! 😊 🇺🇸
That vacuum trick was absolutely genius
I said the same thing 👍
King and Queen would be perfect names for the eagles. Keep up the content, I always look forward to the weekly videos!!!
Been watching your video since you had 500k subscribers 😃😃😃
I think Sam and Rosie would be good names, after Uncle and the Riveter
Hobbits?
I like the names Romeo and Juliet for eagle names. I'm really loving the content best channel on RUclips!!
Always great content!! You should name one of the bald eagles Hobbs, after Hobbs Pond in Hope, Maine. I have a cottage there and the wildlife in your videos reminds me a lot of up north, especially the eagles. Love seeing the other birds and deer too.
You should also look for a weeping bald cypress. It would make a nice addition to your aqua scape pond
Don and Joe (Henley and Walsh) from The Eagles!
Scout should be a name for one of the bald eagles! ❤
We love Nate!
Great video!
You should name the Eagles Hank and Peggy from King of the Hill
It doesn't hurt to add more mulch. Leafs, straw, wood chips. A thick layer prevents a lot better against evaporation or overheating from the soil.
Are you from Toronto?
@@bobsmith6544No, I am from the Netherlands.
That moss is on a lot of the trees here in western Washington State
this is so cool what you have done. I think one name should be striker maybe since he strikes the firsh
