- How to make tofu from soy beans with a very common and easy to find ingredient -- rice vinegar or fresh lemon juice. That's the acid solution.
Correction: recommend simmer the soy milk for 15 minutes if you have considerations for trypsin inhibitor.
There are several commonly used coagulants in Chinese cuisine. The first group is salt coagulants (盐卤) including gypsum (石膏粉) and Nigari salts (In Sichuan cuisine we call this 胆巴). And the second group is Acid coagulants including GDL (葡萄糖内脂), mainly for super tender tofu and tofu pudding. But regular acid including rice vinegar or even lemon juice can help the soy milk becoming solid too. I demonstrate about how to make tofu with rice vinegar in this video. But other coagulants works too.

I'm so happy no buying of tofu in market now I will start making my own
Thank you very much
Hey! I just finished making the tofu it took a lot of time and patience. I used synthetic vinegar instead of the rice one bc that's what I had and it didn't give any changes in the results it was perfect. I used 250gms of soya beans and it made approximately 2lt of milk and then 500gms of tofu! It was way cheaper than making cottage cheese or even just buying tofu from the store
Thank you for this video, I can’t wait to try. I also love how peaceful this video is!
I am so happy that when i was searching for protien, i got this video💜 cooking can be soo relaxing and healthier options like this are always good ❤️
This is one of the most visually appealing videos I've ever seen thank you for all of the work you put into it
So pure and clean. I love it.
You obviously don’t know Juns kitchen
👍👍👍
After watching a LOT of videos about how to make tofu, yours was the most helpful because it was extremely clear and the video showed everything that a novice would need to see. I didn't work to end up with 5l of soy milk (which seems like a lot...), but it all worked out great!! Thank you!
There are so many people teaching how to make tofu, yours is the one the clearest of all! Niiice
You have got such a gentle soothing voice. Thank you so much for the recipe, I won’t need to buy soya milk anymore to make tofu or soya cheese.
So helpful and down to earth. Surely, I can relate with this recipe more than any other that I've viewed on RUclips. No expensive equipment and separators. Only the kitchen grinder et al. Thanks immensely.
Hi from Ireland. I am in my 50s and this is my very first cooking and eating tofu. I never had it before. While watching this video, I am right now frying tofu. I cannot believe how silky soft the tofu is and how easy it is to cut it into cubes. Before, I thought it would be as hard as cheddar cheese.
This has honestly left me incredibly surprised! I had no idea Tofu honestly took so little ingredients!
Hi Eleaine..... Thank you so much for teaching us how to make tofu at home.... Very helpful vdo
Thank you. I recently tried making tofu and I wished I had seen your video first. Thank you for these details. It is very helpful.
Thank You from Vallejo, California. Very professional presentation in always.
I recently learned to enjoy tofu. Thank you for this video. It's something else to try at home.
Today I thought of making tofu. Thanks very much indeed. Very clearly presented. May God bless you!
Turned out great! Thank you for the excellent instructions
Brilliant video, best one I've seen. I loved it all the way.
Very easy to understand. Thanks for sharing this tofu making procedure.
i will start making my own tofu as a meat replacement in my diet. thank you for this wonderful tutorial.
Finally, I made a perfect block of tofu!!! Well, I still have to eat it, but it’s holding together so well following your instructions!! It’s soaking in water atm. I thought I had to order these coagulants that you cannot find in stores to get this process going. It did come in the mail, but after watching your video, I opted for the rice vinegar as I always keep that stocked in my kitchen. It’s better to use ingredients that are at hand and easy to find. I’m so excited to try it with some homemade Kim here. I hope it tastes great without having to cook it. Great video!! Thank you. Can you please post how to make some sauces with that extracted water?
This is what I actually wanted to learn 😍 great video 👍
This is exactly how to make cheese from dairy milk, Great video. This is the first time I tried fresh tofu. Wow, it tastes so much better than store bought. Just had a bowl of fresh tofu seasoned with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, chilli, sesame seeds, sesame oil and green onion. I finally understand why asians eat so much tofu. I used to buy commercial tofu and often to use it before it expires, what a waste. Making fresh tofu is economical as well. Thank you so much for posting this
I love the fact that you make it with rice vinegar, in the country i live (Panama) i cant find Gypsum powder or Nigari, its more accessible the rice vinegar. Thank you for sharing your family knowledge!!!!
thank you for the recipe... way simpler than I thought... will make this.
Beautiful and simple presentation: The best I've seen! 😘
Your videos are super interesting and are helping me discover the greatness of Chinese cuisine. Thank you!!

Oh my goodness - does that Tofu look delicious!!!! I've got to try making my own at home.Glad to hear Rice Vinegar or fresh Lemon Juice can be used in place of the Nigari, which are two things I always have at home. I just purchased some soybeans. Keeping my fingers crossed that mine will come out as good as yours.
We can find tofu in the near by stores in my country tofu is loved by almost every one there is also red tofu and orange how ever I enjoy the red tofu more because when you fry it it turns to a beautiful golden brown

Nice video and very good guidance👍
Delicious cooking at the end was great too but wow, lots of patience till the final tofu!
I just want to say for people if u don use all the tofu put it in a container it doesn’t have to be closable pour in water till the tofu is fully covered that is very important. Before you use it rinse it of a little cuz the outer layer might be sour. 👍🏻
Even though i have none of the required materials to prepare tofu I enjoyed your video very much, it was calming and insightful, you should be proud !
Thanks dear!
Hola es la primera vez q veo un vídeo haciendo tofu con vinagre, yo lo he hecho con limón, está forma me pareció genial 👍

great Cooking channel, thank you for Tofu recipe, Keep in touch👍 👍 👍
Thank you so much now I can find it easy
Thank you...love it in stir fried and boil with chicken!! Yummy!! 😊😋😋😍😍💕💕👍👍
There seems to be lots of different ways to approach tofu, but this one looks legit from a novice perspective, and seems to be very much achievable. Basically it's soak>blend>strain>boil>vinegar>strain, with care. 6 steps. Simple enough.
This is something I genuinely might try. I like tofu, but my wife has a soy intolerance, so if I could do this with another bean (like fava) we might be able to share more meals.
mary's test kitchen did several videos with different legumes making tofu.
I've tried a few other recipes with lemon juice and water and even different stirring techniques and the curds always came out so so tiny and just wouldn't set. I followed your directions and the curds where waaaay bigger and it all just happened as it should do. Very happy 😊
What did you make different? I also couldn’t get the curds big enough I don’t know what I did wrong
Thank you for guiding us how ! you are truly knowledgeable and nice ^^
Thank you so much for the recipe
My pleasure!
Yes that is true Elaine i made vinegar and lemon too but i want to try the coagulant I want to see the smooth texture, with lemon and vinegar they are not smooth, I dont want the nigari and epsom salt those are bitter..yes that is it gypsum/i still need to order it online, well i be back to you next time i try it/ thank you so much that you updated most your recipe specially this one...❤
even soy beans is not easy for me to find, i must search for the/ nature shop/

Great video, thanks. 👍
Look so easy and I will make
This is awesome, thenk you
Thank you for the video. You show the process quite well. How long do you soak the tofu in water after taking it out of the press and cutting it up? Also, what temperature must it reach on the thermometer?
Thank you for sharing ur easiest way of making tofu.now i can make my own tokwa...
My pleasure.
Looks yummy and satisfying to watch.🥰🥰 For anyone it may be helpful. My first attempt failed, reasons may be 1. because i over soaked the soybeans, 2. I couldn't continue doing it at once, filtered milk was sitting for more than hour. 3. Added water in the mid of boiling, because milk turned thick and started burning in the bottom. Smells bad too. 4. I added lemon juice while its on low flame, like i saw on some other video. Please don't make such mistakes in order to get perfect tofu like above.😦🙄
Too good, thank you.
hard work any way thanx for sharing
One of many China's greatest inventions. 👍
