My Canik TTI had 15-20% of rounds FTRTB. I sent it to Century Arms 8 weeks ago for warranty service (at their expense) and just got it back. They replaced the extractor spring, installed a stiffer recoil spring assembly, and polished the barrel ramp. I ran 250 rds through it yesterday with no problem. Ignore all the weenies who say these TTI malfunctions are due to limp-wristing and you should expect a new pistol to malfunction until you’ve “broken it in” etc. A new gun should work, period. Don’t accept less.
I am so glad that they got it working! I hope I am so lucky. It is such a cool gun, I think we would all be happy if they "run" I am going to do another video when I get mine back to let people know how it works out for me.
@byrdalontre please respond back after you shoot it to let me know if it fixes it. I am going to do a video when I get mine back and I want to talk about how others "fixes" work.
Use federal Champion 115 grain brass works perfect in mine the HST 124 grain hollow points work great in my TTI combat not one problem the cerakote job is supposed to have shadowing that's the way it comes that's what makes it beautiful
I am so glad yours works well! When I get mine back from Century Arms I will try some Federal ammo. Hopefully they get mine fixed! Thanks for supporting the channel!
This is incredibly frustrating. I had the same issues with the firearm not going into battery from the very first round. Took it straight from the store to the range and the most shots I could get off in a row was 3 before there was a failure. Majority of the time it was every other round failure. I was lucky to get 3 shots off in a row. I've been shooting all my life, so it's not a limp wrist issue. It was sent back 5 weeks ago and there has been no updates other than they've received the firearm. Century Arms takes 48 hours to return a single email and when they do, they act like you're bothering them with short sentence responses or one word answers. It's so crazy to me that I can give someone $1000 and have nothing to show for it for possibly months. While I've been waiting, I went out and bought a HK VP9L, and sent 250 rounds through it right out of the box. Not a single failure. Went back to the range the next day without cleaning it and put another 150 through it. Not one failure. That's the way a brand new gun that you spend a lot of money on should function. You shouldn't have to shave parts, change out springs, get a 3rd spring sent to you, or guess what kind of ammo you should use. The gun should just work. When I get the TTI back I'm going to immediately put 150 rounds through it. If it fails just once, I'm asking for a refund. You SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR LIFE with a $1000 gun. I have Glock, HK, Springfield, Sig, & Walther. I've put thousands of rounds through these guns without malfunctions. After seeing all these people online having the same issue I had, I have a feeling that Canik should be doing a recall, but isn't doing the responsible thing. To me your gun either works and is reliable for $1000 or it's not. If it can't pass a 150 round test without malfunctions, you shouldn't be selling it!
I am so sorry that you are going through this. Stay tuned for my 4th video. It drops in like a week. I got mine back 5 weeks to the day. They did not email me when I would get it back. I had emailed them and they said " looks like we already shipped it to you" immediately took it to the range and it was improved but still had the exact same issue. Emailed them back and they said "take it to your FFL have them ship it back to us, and when we get it back we will send you a new one in a couple weeks" I said what about the FFL fee I will get? They said if you get one send us proof and we will mail you a check. My TTI is gone, just like my business to Century Arms and CANiK.
@@theBucketshallnotbeinfringed holy smokes, smh. Do you think a new tti will be any better or do you think this is just an all around poorly made firearm?
check out my 4th video. Got it back amd it still had the same problem. I cut my losses and sold it off. I was never going to be able to trust this firearm. And the compensator really did not work very well.
had same issue, trimmed the extractor spring and that took care of the issue for me. zero malfunctions after that with 3 different mags and stock recoil spring.
I had the same issues with mine. But it turns out that i was limp wristing it. I worked on my grip and it has run flawlessly with new republic 115 grain ever since. I got the new spring from canik but i have not used it yet cause it runs perfect now.
I am so happy yours is running now! I was, for sure, not limp writing mine. I have some Remington and Fiochi ammo. I will try through mine if I ever get mine sent back to me.
I am so happy you were one of the ones that got a functional firearm. Hopefully when I get mine back from them I will be as lucky and have a gun the functions correctly!
What's occurring is failure to return to battery. Sometimes so slight, that you can barely tell the slide is not in full battery. I field-stripped mine. I noticed the polymer was slightly too high at the rear of the frame, near/above the beavertail area. I used a fine nail file and lightly sanded down the polymer just a small amount. I then felt the entire frame looking for raised areas, and rough areas on the black polymer. When I found them, I very lightly sanded them as well. Cleaned, lubed and re-assembled. 1,000 rounds later, not a single failure with 18 or 21-round factory mags.
I'm really interested to see of that would help my issues also. I was getting what I thought were light primer strikes, but I tested your theory and tapped the slide forward, even when it looked completely forward, and it fired every time. Would you be willing to to post a video of where you sanded it?
For the price you paid it should run , and there shouldn't be a finish issue. A couple of weeks ago @garageguy879 had a kel-tec p17 that he bought and it had issues. Two of my friends have the same gun with no problems. Hope the get you gun fixed and back to you quickly
Thank you so much for your wishes. I called them today and they said "the shadow" is intentional but said it not having shadow throughout is not right. They made it sound like I am not the only person with TTI problems. I will do another video explaining how the return process goes. Hopefully they will quickly take it back amd get it running for me. Thanks for your kind wishes amd supporting the channel.
The slide seration thing is intentional. It's supposed to look like a shadow effect. I put 1300 rounds through mine with multiple different grain rounds and haven't had a single issue. Must have lucked out, I see alot of people having issues. Best of luck getting yours straightened out, it's an awesome pistol when working as it should.!
I still think it is weird that the "shadow effect" is on 2 of the 4 sets of serations, not uniform, and completely absent from the other two. My video 4 is coming out on Monday. Spoiler, the gun came back better, but still having the same problem. So sad that they released this pistol without having the kinks worked out. I'm glad you were one of the ones that did not get a lemmon!
Canik themselves have said that the cerakote was done on purpose to give it a shadowed look, And that box of Blazer does specifically on the back not to use with comps or ports. I read online that a lot of people are having good luck with magtec. I just finished lubing and cleaning mine for its first shots, wish me luck, hope I got one of the good ones
@@theBucketshallnotbeinfringed just got home. 😎 The range was closed so we tried a new desert spot but man it was hot. Ok, so I used up all my magtech boxes, around 400 rounds. First two mags were the worst, 2 light primer strikes, and 3 return to battery issues. After that the next maybe 6 mags were perfect, after that one more light primer strike and the rest was smooth. So far I'm thinking it looks like this one is behaving.
@rpgfreak92787 thank you so much much for giving me the range report. I am so glad to hear that you are okay with your performance. When I get mine back I will do another video reporting back with my gun and talk about others as well.
@@theBucketshallnotbeinfringed Yeah of course, fingers crossed on yours. I've been doing research for the last few months looking at every review on RUclips. Good bad and ugly. I wanted to know every good and bad thing about it and what problems to expect. I got mine and accepted that I might have one that's going to need work and was okay with that. I'll keep an eye out for your update
I wonder if it’s partially a magazine issue because I saw someone who bought additional magazines to use in this gun and supposedly put 2000 rounds through with no issues
Could be. But if mags would fix it, I would assume that Canik would offer to send mags opposed to asking for guns back and then not fixing the gun, then offer to give people new guns. But I don't know for sure.
@@theBucketshallnotbeinfringed not sure if canik is aware that could be an issue. The 2 things that I’ve seen fairly consistently are everyone running a red dot experiencing no problems and everyone running iron sights experience either a few or a lot of malfunctions. Maybe the additional weight on of the red dot helps stabilize the slide. But the people getting the bullet scraped up when it gets feeding issued I feel may be a magazine issue along with it not returning to battery.
Again. You're making 2 complaints. That they half a$$Ed your cerakote. False. That's shadowing. The uniformity of the shadowing should not be a lot different from either side. And I can't speak to your personal tti combat on that. If mine was bad. I would contact canik.
The cerecote not being uniform is what I am complaining about. If you watch the next two videos in the series, you will see I returned it. 5 weeks later, the gun came back, and it still had the same issue. Again if you watch all the videos it goes over all of that.
I have one that is the same as yours's failure to return to battery and also failure to fire. I just got it back from the factory and it has the same problems. They gave me no explanation of repairs just a parts list that says they replaced the striker assembly and recoil spring. The outside of my slide looks somewhat like yours I believe this is just poor craftsmanship. The turnaround on the non-repair was 4 weeks. When it comes back from repair it comes with another spring heavier than all the springs and this is supposed to take care of the failure to return to battery. It doesn't.
It you do not grip the TTI Combat hard, you will get failure to fires. It's the weirdest thing. It's almost like the grip handle has a pressure sensor. So try gripping hard and compare when you aren't gripping the gun hard and see what happens
I assure you I am not limp wristing the gun. I have shot thousands of rounds through hundreds of guns, and griping guns correctly is not the issue. Poor quality control is the issue.
Don't run CCI brass. There is actually a warning on the box that says do not run in ported and compensated guns. I just got my new stronger recoil spring from Canik. This is their solution for FTRTB. They also send a card stating the gun requires a 200 round break in period. They also tell you to stop, don't pull the trigger if gun is out of battery. Lightly hit the slide to return to battery and continue shooting. When I'm shooting I can't see it is out of battery so that instruction is useless.
I have a 200rd pack of Fiochi, no note saying no compensator on that ammo. I am with you. That is the dumbest warning. Also, they are sending it back saying, "we know our gun still does not work, so when it still fails, do this." How are you not refunding our money if you know it still does not work?
Yeah, I hope they are good and get it taken care of quickly. I am going to do a video documenting the process so people know how Century Arms and Canik take care of there issues.
I called and they said that is by design. When explained it was on the front left slide serrations a little on the front right amd none on the back they said that was wrong. Then I told them about the over 10% failure rate and they said someone will reach out tomorrow. Let's see if they do.
I think you are making a good decision not getting this one. Those who are lucky to get one that runs are super happy. You can check out mynother videos. I sent mine back, and it came back still having the same problems.
Have you worked with a trainer to help you resolve an issue with you limp-wristing the gun when firing. My girlfriend has the same problem which causes lots of malfunctions on many of the handguns I own that shoot perfectly for me.
I am glad yours worked. While many many TTI's from Canik are not working, some of them are working. I have done hundreds of videos on Guns that were designed and manufactured correctly, and I shoot them fine, no limp wristing. The gun I received does not function correctly, like many of the viewers that have commented on the series of videos I have put out. Century Arms is taking them back because they know their guns have problems. Best of luck to ya.
I had major issues with firearm. Dented lead, light strikes - a general shitshow. I am an experienced shooter. To be sure it wasn’t me I handed gun to a trainer at a range I shoot at. Guess what? Same garbage for him as well. Sent it back to Canik. Polished feedramp. Replaced firing pin and spring. New springs all around and now gun runs perfect. Did my grip mysteriously improve while not shooting it?
On The Blazer Box it says do not use in Ported Firearm ? These Firearms have more Problems than anything i have seen to date on The Net. I watched a guy Didamble His Slide The Fireing pin was not leaving any marlk on the Primer The Fireing pen was taking a beating soft Metal it had less Than 200 Rounds through it Many people are having Lite Strikes or no strike on Primer . I have The Rival Darkside no problem. I Bought a Shadow System ported They tell you Do not shoot any Light loads There is a 200 Roung Break in Period so I followed Their advice and The First 100 Rounds every mag was Jamming i was Donbting But when i Got 175 -180 Rounds it hasent missed a Lick I cleaned It Took a Box of 115 Gr and it will run anything so They were Right it had to have the Break in The DR 920 P is a long slide to move .I will not be buying The TTI First Gun From TTI i heard would not run .
When I got mine back from the factory, it still did not work. I did not use Blazer when I got it back either. So I don't think it is the Blazer causing the problem. From my experience and the number of comments I have gotten, Canik has a real problem with these firearms. Sad, too, because it is cool marketing and a cool looking gun. Too bad it does not run.
No. Your viewers arent telling you one side should be darker than the other. You keep claiming they did a half butt job cerakoting your gun. You keep being told. Thats not a half butt job. Taran butler wanted darkening in the very corners of the cuts to give the gun a well used look. All that dark is not missed cerakote. Its a design taran butler did intentionally to gun. But it should be the same on either side of the gun.
Now if you feel the paint is darker on one side of your weapon than the other. That's not supposed to be like that. What we are talking is the shadow effect inside the cuts. That's dark paint. Over the bronze cerakote. But it should be the same tone on both sides.
My confusion stemmed from the cercote not being uniform. (Shadow effect in some places and not the others). If there is going to be shadow, it would affect the gun all over, not just in one place. It makes the gun look cheap and makes people think that the cerecote was not applied correctly. Which come to find out the gun was made cheaply, given the fact they have a large number of them that don't run, and after they are returned, they still don't run.
I will, I am going to do a video on the process they make you go through. And then I will do a video on what happens when it comes back. Do you mind if I use your comment in my video so people know there are problems.
Just picked up mine last week. What ammo were you using? I’m going to run 115 grain blazer brass. It does say on the box not to use their ammo with a compensated barrel 😂
Let me know how yours runs. I know some have had no issues with their's amd many have had to send their's back. One guy sent it back and already has it back no better than before. Mine is back to CANiK. They did not fight me at all. So please reach back out to let me know how yours does.
Wow that not cool. The only time I sent a handgun back to the manufacturer was because I over oiled them. I will definitely let you know how it runs. I kinda jumped the gun on this handgun 😂. I like to wait about a year or two before I make a purchase so the company can iron out issues.
Me too! Should have waited but it just looked so darn cool. Releasing a video on how to return it to Century Arms, hope yoy dont need it@chadumlauf5145
Just took the TTI out today. Shot 200 rounds of blazer brass 115 grain FMJ. I had no real issues. I had a light primer strike. The round fired after re chambered it again. And a few times the slide needed a push to chamber a round. I owe that to me not applying enough oil. I shot 50 grain ammo that was reloaded and it ran just fine. The stock recoil spring was used for all the rounds fired. The guns stippling was too much for me tho. It really ripped my hand up. That’s the only downside but a big one in my book.
@theBucketshallnotbeinfringed having trouble with a new gun. I bought a ruger max 9 and a new trigger. Put in new trigger and found out it had a bad striker...had to take out trigger to get a new striker by sending back in.

@jamesclifford5224 Amen! Got mine back, much improved but still have some failures to return to battery about 1.5%
On The Blazer Box it says do not use in Ported Firearm ?
The darkening is intentional shadow effect added to the gun for pop. Not missed cerakote in the corners.
Opinion on how great this is. Seems to be divided into a camp of about 50/50. You're the first person just completely not understanding it.
But taran butler is a color guy. If you're going to be messing with tti. You're going to have some wild looking guns. He's not a black or olive guy.
Please let me know how you make out.
Sorry..I hate that.
What do you hate?
@theBucketshallnotbeinfringed having trouble with a new gun. I bought a ruger max 9 and a new trigger. Put in new trigger and found out it had a bad striker...had to take out trigger to get a new striker by sending back in.
That is awful. I am sorry you had to go through all that. @@Rumpleskin
@@theBucketshallnotbeinfringed on the bright side..I installed it faster the second time..lol
1000 RNDS FLAWLESS.... HATERS GONNA HATE..
I am so happy that you are one of the people that got a gun that runs. I never said that everyone will get a not functioning one. Some have ones that run, and they are very happy. For those of us that were not so lucky. We spent 1k dollars on Guns that never worked, and in my case still have problems after I got mine back from the factory. You can check my 4th video. I captured the failures on video.
