    I’ve been 18-6 fasting for four weeks now. I’ve also eliminated sugar and I’m at 20-30g of carbs. I’ve never felt better! My energy is super high and my mind is absolutely clear! I’m down 25lbs so far.

    My sister in law has been dieting for years and years, counting calories, weighing herself non stop, low fat this and low fat that and has never lost an ounce. She's a carb junkie, wont eat fat and insists fat makes you fat. Never misses a meal, hungry or not. When I ask her to try 16/8 which is simple, it's the same old story. I need energy, I get light headed. Myths, indoctrinated into old worn out fake science.

      It’s sad, but she believes those things. I was scared of fasting. It took me at least half a year to listen to videos explaining and advocating fasting.
      It was one of Ben Azadi’s videos that finally offered me a version of fasting that I thought I could do. It’s 2MAD, basically eating breakfast and a late lunch (it’s supposed to be a 6-hr eating window, but I can’t manage that with my schedule so it’s more like an 8-hr window. Once a week, on Sunday, I eat as normal but then do not eat again until after 2:00 Monday, which is OMAD, then Tuesday back to 2MAD. It includes, therefore, one 24-hr fast per week, one OMAD day, but there is no single day in which I don’t eat something. I get to work out fasted every Monday.
      It’s really not difficult, and I never feel hungry in the evenings. I’ve only been doing this for about a month, and it has been slightly interrupted by my birthday and our 50th wedding anniversary, but I’ve lost about 2 pounds anyway. It’s really a lifestyle thing that I have been able to incorporate into my routine without much difficulty.
      Give your friend a chance, see if she’s willing to watch some videos on fasting. I myself have had no instances of faintness or weakness. However, I’ve never believed the myth about fat, and make sure to eat enough fat. She would have to eat an awful lot of protein to manage without fat. See if you can get her to eat real butter and cook her eggs in butter. See if she’ll eat olives every day. See if she’ll eat ribeyes with some of the fat. Oh, I only weigh myself once a week, on Tuesday morning.
      Best wishes for your sister-in-law.

      Just a suggestion from the sideline. Try Carnivore, an all-animal product way of eating. The best meat is beef and lamb for the high fat content, which heals the body. Organic eggs are amazing as well. Even just hamburger n eggs will heal. Try it for 3 months and see if it will reset your metabolism. It can't hurt and you may find yourself doing much better. Fat heals hormones...menopause. All the best.

    • @LauraB.335
      @LauraB.335 3 месяца назад +2

      As we go through menopause, insulin resistance increases, so you may just need to do a little more to keep insulin low. And that can mean different things: exercise a little more, exercise more intensely, add resistance training, fast for longer periods periodically, go even lower carb, add more fat for hormonal health. Experiment and see what works for you.

      Hi, thank you soo much for following my work for years, and getting Keto Flex. Congrats on your 60 lbs of weight loss, that's amazing. What I have seen is that when you hit a stall, it's time to mix things up. This keeps your metabolism adapting to the changes, which helps you break the stall. There are several ways to mix things up, and of course I have this outlined in Keto Flex, and also in a step by step system inside my Keto Kamp Academy program. Here are some examples of how we mix things up to break a stall.... Change your fasting schedule to eat most of your meals in the morning and afternoon, instead of afternoon and evening. Eating breakfast instead of dinner works well. Another way to mix things up is to go full carnivore for a month or two. Another method is to flex out of keto more often.. etc... Hope this helps, keep healing!!

    18 / 6 protocol, isn't really 18 hours of true fasting, or is it?
    If your last meal was at 1400, the stomach would be digesting the contents for the next 5 or so hours - so until the stomach is fully emptied - how can one be in a fasted state?
    Last meal 1400 + 5 hours, true fast would start at 1900.
    When I did OMAD - I would always add 5 hours before I would start my fasting window / clock. 1400 last meal + 5 = 1900.
    1900 till 1300 = 18 hours of a true fast. Then I would eat between 1300 - 1400 and repeat the process.

    30 lbs of fat in 40 days? You’d have to be in a calorie deficit of 2600 calories per day. If you ate 1500 calories each day you’d have to burn 4100 calories per day. Not realistic. I use intermittent fasting to stay on track with cutting diets, but there’s no getting around the fact that you have to burn more calories than you take in to lose weight. The other challenge is keeping muscle while losing fat.

I believe he's greatly exaggerating how much weight someone can realistically lose. I wouldn't trust his claims on how much one could lose.
      That said, fasting does work. In my own experience, my only successful diets used fasting to help keep me on track. It provides a framework for eating. I also believe that exercising in a fasted state tends to burn more fat than exercising after eating. However, if you're not strength training and consuming enough protein, you'll lose muscle. Fasting won't lead to weight loss unless you're in a calorie deficit. It helps some people stay on track and, when combined with fasted cardio, it can help prioritize fat loss.
