I'd like to actually learn how to play some day (beyond just knowledge of how the pieces can move) but it seems like such an insane amount of knowledge and learning... It's honestly kind of overwhelming when the only real comparison I have are geniuses like Magnus lmao

There's a lot of online chess community to play with. You can start as a beginner and earn and improve your chess rating. You don't have to compare yourself to Magnus right away-even for us (at least casuals) who has been playing for years, that's overwhelming 😂. Perhaps you can check post-analysis to slowly understand the dynamics as the game progresses-learn beyond the moves.

It's almost 2023 and they are still playing with manual clocking. By now they should have sensors in the board that detect each movement, so when a player leaves his piece the clock starts ticking for the opponent. On second hand (no pun intended) I find the constant smashing of the clock pad quite entertaining, I'm just surprised they haven't made the game more efficient. After all it's not that complicated to make it automated.
