I've been using a Canon T7i for 3 years for my RUclips channel. As I got into Live Streaming, I was so disappointed the Canon couldn't do clean HDMI via my Elgato CamLink. (Well, if I shut off auto focus, but that's a hassle if you move about!) I just received my A6600 and am working on getting it configured. I'll admit that color correcting is new to me. I like how your video always shows a slow zoom in...nice effect!
Canon make amazing cameras but they've always left out a couple of simple features such as clean hdmi slow mo or added huge crops to 4k.. they've only just started fixing that in their latest cameras! but they're pretty expensive compared to Sony etc. i'm so happy with the a6600 it does everything i need it to do and it didnt cost TOO much.. i'm glad you enjoyed the video though and i hope you have a lot of fun with your new camera!
Another useful review! I bought the A5100 just over a month ago for £320 with a cheap dummy battery pack power adapter. Not had any over heating issues while using it for over an hour. The only issue I get it sometimes it won’t switch on until I’ve jiggled the dummy battery. Otherwise v happy with for live streaming. 😀
a5100 is a great camera! perfect for streaming tbh... the overheating issues usually only happen when running with batteries and recording video internally.... for some reason the batteries get hot which heats up the internals which are hot anyway because of processing the recordings and they just cant cope with that much heat so switch off... when I've been streaming with a dummy battery I've never really had an issue because you aren't recording so the processor isn't heating up
AJ Sarsfield Film I’m glad you think the a5100 is perfect for streaming! the overheating while recording with batteries is an unfortunate pain. I have other cameras I’ve used for recording RUclips vids, the canon 70D and GFX, and the Ghost action cam for when I’m out on my motorbike. Just a pity those can’t be used for streaming! Lol. Looking forwarding to watching you live stream. 😁
I have been a Sony 6----series fan for 3-4 years because I travel internationally for fun and needed a small set up for stills. Now I'm moving into documentaries (just as a hobby, and when the world opens up again) but still need a small form factor. The Sony A6000 was phenomenal and now I have the A6600. There is a noticeable improvement in the image quality with a loss of PANORAMA mode and the pop up flash (ridiculous loss of basic features). Of course there is a gain of many features over the original model. Again, no better camera for its size for travelers when the photographer wants a small camera and great images. With a small gimbal this camera will work well for video shooting. I've looked at the A7iii and the Fuji XT3, XT4, but their gains in features are offset by their much larger and bulky size. Remember, to go to these cameras, especially the A7iii or A74 you must use much larger and heavier lenses. So, no, even given its limitations, this is a remarkable camera for it's small, portable size. THANKS for the review!!!!
I own an a7iii and as you said its just not practical for all situations.... bigger body bigger lenses and an added cost.. the full frame look is nicer but only marginally and 90% of people wont notice anyway.. Besides the AF is better and mor reliable on the a6600 and the flip screen comes in really handy sometimes where as the a7iii tilty screen has limitations in certain situations... Thanks for checking out the video though and i appreciate the comments
Thanks man I'm glad you enjoyed it! Honestly I'm still trying to figure my stuff out.. always good to experiment and try new things and eventually that'll grow into your style.. It's hard to be original these days haha
appreciate it! and im glad you enjoyed the review... this is mostly shot in 4k 24fps (23.976) and at 1/50 shutter speed... the only parts that arent are the slow motion shots in the intro product shots which are 120fps shots instead... Either way im glad you found it useful and got some info out of it
We've used Sony cameras for a few years now.. love the quality but as you said they've had some issues in the past! Might have to get my hands on one of these to check out how it performs!
really great video, you should definitely keep it up on youtube! Your editing is very good and lively! One thing: I think the lense you are using on the 6600 has some issues with the details of the tree's outside and also does sometimes marginally hunt a bit for focus. Is it the Zeiss? I am really picky with sony for that things, since the colors in the sony cameras are such a fragile thing.
thanks for the kind words! the lens im using outside is the Sony 10-18 F4... Its not the best lens but its convenient for "vlogging" style sections of videos... the Zeiss 55 is a much nicer lens overall
Hey man thank you I am banned on twitter so I could not reply on the DM but I got the Sony Alpha a6600 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens on sale for $1599 and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens you recommended on sale for $399 your video solidified my purchase keep up the great work my friend
Nice video editing . what program do you use for your video editing? I just got mine a6600 yesterday......I'm still playing around with it . Love it so far . Thanks for the video
I'm still learning more about this camera and what settings and profiles I like best on it... I might do some updated videos in the future on that kind of thing .. Oh! And I edited this on premiere Pro.. But most edit software will be able to edit like this video.
there will defo be more in the future! i just need some more time with it to test out things and learn what works best for me haha! if you have any specific questions though.. let me know and i can add it to my list of things to make vids on :) thanks for checking this out though!
I got the Alpha 6600 and have a problem with overheating. For example, if I want to record 3-4 hours of RUclips videos, the camera overheats well and good and I have to turn it off first. Problem here is that I then have to reset the manual focus again, so I'm not happy with the autofocus I always set it myself. Now to the question is there a way to run the camera permanently without it comes to overheating? Must go to streaming somehow, if you want to stream then 6-7 hours. And the other question is can you save the manual focus in movie mode somehow, that you do not have to reset it every time you turn on?
I am really struggling to choose between A6600 and A6400, but my friend told me that the A6600 doesn't support the AC adapter, which is not good for live streaming?
it does ( i use one) but it supports a different AC adapter... its the same one that the A9 and a7iii uses instead.. as it has the newer FZ100 battery which is bigger than the older one that's used in the 6500 and lower models
if you're ONLY using it for streaming etc i'd go with the cheaper 6400... both have the same video quality... the only real difference is the 6600 has IBIS (stabilisation) which you odnt need on a tripod and it has a bigger battery... which if you're plugging it in anyway then it doesnt really matter if youre doing more stuff outside of streaming vlogging or travel film/photography etc then the a6600 will be better just because of the battery life! + it has a headphone jack to monitor your audio
Not gonna lie... if i had the budget for it.. i'd be all over the Canon mirrorless line or even a 1DX mkiii i LOVE how canon cameras look.. (i've owned a few) BUT theyre so expensive and lack some of the features sony provide in the same budget... i'm hoping the R5 changes that somewhat
I did notice that the a6400 and the a7s2 have the option to change the HDMI out settings to show the camera screen clean or not. you can go in to the settings on your a6600 and change that setting if you want your display to show the settings
of course you can :) i use the a6600 to stream on twitch + i also use it clean plugged into my pc to montior the image when i'm recording videos like this! clean hdmi is super useful on cameras like this because you get the 10 bit 4:2:2 colour space (when externally recording) which is ideal for working with the S-Log profiles.. internal 8 bit isnt that great for them sadly :(
In the settings go to setup Then page 2 of 7 and turn on power save start time to 30 mins As well as auto power off Temp to high I have my settings set to this and I've never had it turn off on me yet...
Depends what you need it for?? My favourite is the sigma 16mm F 1.4... Good lens for filming yourself for youtube/streaming etc... In this video im mostly using the 10-18 though as its great for Vlogging But if you want something that's better for shooting short films or other people.. just generally getting those nice shallow depth of field shots The 55 f1.8 is a great lens
@@AJSarsfieldFilm I plan on streaming and taking pictures when I travel. I will look into the sigma 16mm. Is it good for taking travel pictures too? Or would you recommend just getting a separate lens for that?
@@tabathawilliams7658 its a great lens and being 1.4 its good in low light... however it is quite a wide lens.... its 24mm equivalent on the crop bodies (a6600) so its pretty good at taking landscape and location pictures.... kind of similar image width as a standard phone camera... you can shoot people with it too if you just want to carry 1 lens.. but it wont look as good on portraits as say a 50 mm.... but travelling you'll want to keep the setups minimal so its up to you really

90% of this video was shot on it.. unless its IN the shot..
Your transitions are great. Solid content too!
