This shoot with Norton has been one of the best I've seen on WSI. Thanks James!
Norton is one of the wrestlers I ALWAYS enjoyed seeing. Always looked authentically strong, no messing around, tough kind of guy. Very few of them in the business then or now! Great interview!!!
Classic Ole being Ole. Hate to speak ill of the dead, but I’ve never heard a kind word spoken about him.
I was just thinking as I was listening to this;
"I don't want to speak ill of the dead, but it sure seems like a lot of WCW stories from around this time seem to be, 'Everything was going fine, but then Ole...'"
I have heard some people say nice things about Ole Anderson. He was better than Buzz Sawyer and Dynamite Kid who both did horrible and criminal things.
Flair praised him, Ole helped him at the start of his career.
Ole wouldn't want it any other way
@@ladadavidson7926 Ole hated Flair
Loving this Norton interview.
The more stories I hear about Ole Anderson the more I think he was a big a jole
He was trying to save the company money at that time, that’s why they hired him
Yeah good ol big a jole ole
NAILZ has started doing shoot interviews. BOOK HIM JAMES, please.
Scott was awsome in Portland! So many greats came through there.
Norton was awesome everywhere he went, that's why he's a top 5 on everyone's list of Big Men. I kept hoping they would put him with Buff or Disco and form an actual tag team, I know he tagged with both of them in one offs and stuff like that but they were never an ACTUAL tag-team.
The offer Scott Norton got was probably similar to Tully Blanchard's offer. Tully was offered $500 per appearance contract to reform The Four Horsemen at Slamboree 1993. Tully did not accept the offer and was replaced him with Paul Roma.
So basically Ole put words in Stings mouth. That he didn't say. I don't know Steve Borden personally. But,what people speak about him. I don't ever see Sting speaking in that manner. Even if he really felt that way. Stings doesn't strike me somebody who would bury his opponent like that. Sting is known as one of the nicest kindest professional wrestlers ever. It's not even in his nature to bad mouth someone like that. Just imagine Scott took that personal. Scott is a stand up dude himself. Glad he finally got to talk with Sting about that. I love how Scott says "Sting was phenomenal". I see people say Sting is a Icon etc... Never really see him mentioned in the 🐐 category. He most definitely is in my humble opinion. Scott Norton will always be one bad ass dude to me. His aura says lightning bolt to me. Just a big explosively powerful strong dude. As a 🐂. That moves extremely quick for that size and mass. Like he could grab ya and turn you into to dust with his barehands. Scott is very under rated himself. Also Rest in peace Ole Anderson.
agreed, Scott was one of the rare guys that wasn;t in it for the fame either, he just loved the business, if they wanted him as a solo wrestler he was good with that, if they wanted to put him in a tag team he was good with that too.
Just need to look at the victory road incident to know how much he this was. Sting gave a disappointing look on camera but remained relatively silent. Mean while every other bottom feeder like bischoff has a novel to say about it. Sting is one of the real goats 💪
@@mikeberg6407 Yep
@@TheREALOC1972 Absolutely. Scott should have had a WCW World Championship run. Put a good heel manager with him. Ala Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar. Number # 1 Scott was is believable. That is everything. Big Scott had this intensity aura about him. You could believe he could whoop a man's ass if needed. And, do it dominantly. Very explosive in his presentation. Just RAW Power with innate killer instinct. A Beast of a man.
@@mikeberg6407 Very well stated my friend. Guys like Sting are unique. He's alot like The Undertaker. He minds his own business, and doesn't get to excited. Just a good dude. The world is a better place with guys like Steve Borden aka Sting. I've been a fan since day 1. Of me first watching professional wrestling with my Grand Paw. Back in 1988. As a young kid Sting was everything I loved about Professional Wrestling.
I am gonna say this... Sting was the BEST Wrestler when it came to the "David and Goliath" concept in wrestling. He make all the big men look like KILLERS
Top 5 HW of all time & one of the biggest monstrous money draws to ever do it. He is literally a mythical hero type figure in JP. He is worshipped & treated like royalty. He & Abdullah are embedded in contemporary Japanese pop culture 💯
Norton and Brian Adams were my two favorite nWo workers.
Another one of my questions answered. I often wondered what happened. I was watching WCW a lot in 93.
I believe if it was a bad match, Sting would not have said that anyway.
Exactly. NEVER heard of anything like this coming from the Stinger
Norton looks great
Scott is really loyal to Japan. I Love IT!
F loyalty. It's about knowing where your bread is buttered
Loyalty? What? It's about the Benjamins son to hell with loyalty because they ain't loyal to the talent. Loyal to Japan love it? How old are u to talk so markish.
@@SeamHead33nah it’s deeper than that for him. He is a MEGA star & it’s his second home. He could’ve worked anywhere he wanted to, but they invited him back SIXTEEN TIMES (unheard of). Him, Funk, Abdullah, Brody, & Hansen
@@marcbasil Your wasting your time trying to explain loyalty to new age fans of wrestling.
@marcusking332 lol I'm a new age fan? I haven't watched wrestling since I was in 8th grade in 2001. I just like these shoots about the old days. So I know that these guys didn't care about a country or a promoter they cared about $$$, both short term and long term, and Norton knew it was better for his $$$ to stay strong for future Japan bookings. He was a mid carder at best in USA but a MONSTER in Japan
Ole was trying to get Norton to work for pennies on the dollar...Some people call it 'smart business man' i call it 'messing with my finances'. It's like i tell people when they try to low-ball me on an offer to do a construction project : "You wouldn't ever do it for that price, why the hell should i"?
Exactly!
Scott Norton. Great Wrestler. Greetings from Germany.
Norton could have just talked to Sting, then put Ole on the spot.
My favorite Ole moment was when he went off on Feinstein about Flair leaving WCW with the world title belt. He was either so stiuck in the past or just hated Flair that much that he actually said that nobody cared or was hurt when he took the belt to Vince since he was champion of nothing because there was no NWA (there technically was, but it basically just existed as a paper entity)/territories anymore. He was still champion of the second largest company there was, it was a big news story, and it did matter to someone because it sparked a couple of different lawsuits (one against Flair and one against WWF for using what was considered NWA intellectual property).
It never ceases to amazing me how wrestlers get bent out of shape over a "he said.." statement instead of asking the person directly.
"do this one for me at a good price and I promise I'll catch it make it up to you on the next one"right up there with
"He's just a friend"and
"That's my cousin from out of town"😂
Ole Anderson was a real scumbag 🤬
I am SHOCKED to hear Ole Anderson said this to Scott Norton. 🤣
They will say whatever to save a buck on the talent
Ole Anderson the goat of douches 😂
Norton is underrated
The ironic thing out of the situation is that Nailz was used once and had a contract that kept rolling over for years.
Biceps like cinder blocks
Why scott didnt just go talk to sting to begin with
I was disappointed No Norton Sting instead we got Nailz aka the punisher
I just finished reading Ole's book, and overall one of the better reads if you're into wrestling books. That being said, I don't agree with Ole on everything, this is one where he should have worked something out with Scott. He messed up, on this one.
Didn't know Ole died.
Ole should not have been involved in the wrestling business after 1987 or so.
Sounds like the late Ole Anderson was a real POS. R.I.P.😇
Never hear anything good about Ole.
The only time Sullivan was relevant was against Chris Benoit, as fsr as wrestling and Hogan as just a mouth peive for the D.O.D and Ole was a HORSEMAN. thats it. He Arn, oneof the best minds and wrestlers as all time. Other than them. Sullivan and Ole are fucking jokes.
Ok keyboard tough guy ,😆
Nailz beat up Scott Norton?
That's the story they told on TV to explain why Norton wasn't there and Nailz, aka The Prisoner, was.
@@danpoutsma1351 oh, I remember a video on Bischoff's channel saying something about a "backstage fight" so I thought it was legit
@@zachary_attackery😂😂 rule number 1 in wrestling it’s all a work
Sting refused to admit what he told Anderson. So sad
Two Bookers i cant stand. Ole and Kevin Sullivan. Even Sullivan had a better mind for the business. But both of them were the most overrated and condemning bookers ever. They sucked. Couldnt wrestle or plan a decent match unless they were the Master mind. Ole was garbage. And Sullivan had the "Bunny Hop" as a finsish. Talk about weak.
Norton was a joke, him and Vincent were the worst
