Literally the most enjoyable fishing video I've watched in ages. Thanks for taking us with you. I live in the Sacramento area. That's a makeable trip. So far I've only fished the LT. Some good fish there.
Seen plenty of sizable browns caught on the Truckee..., a great river for all skill levels… I know there are Rainbows in this river,... but never seen one...just large Browns…! 👍😎👌
@@ReelsandRidges my fishing buddy has is figured out but I still swap end pretty often. Watch out for heat expansion when not in the water (especially in the floor section) on sunny days. We made two rod caddies out of 1 1/2” pvc pipe attached to the outside frame with zip ties; notch the pvc so the reel fits in but secure the rod and reel with a bungee cord before bouncing down a bumpy road (does it sound like the voice of experience? We lost a fishing rig once). Tight lines and straight 🚣♀️.
@@ReelsandRidges thanks for the update! We start at 5,200’ at the house and drop down to 3,400’ before putting in at the River. We will make adjustments when we switch locations (start at a lower elevation and go higher)
If I were looking to catch a 20+ I'd fish the slow water below Boca below the RV park. It will be hard to keep from spooking but there are lunkers in that stretch of water.
We don’t really know any spots super close to Truckee but there is good access from the Boca inlet down to Farad. We’ve had success in that area and it is still pretty close to Truckee. Hope that helps!
Congrats, that’s awesome! Pulling any fish out of the Truckee feels like a pretty big win sometimes so when you get a big one like that it is pretty special!
I always liked fishing hoppers on the truckee
Now you got babes on the channel! You guys are moving up
Haha if we want our videos to get more views, sometimes we have to bring in the eye candy 😂

That means a lot, thank you, glad you enjoyed it! It’s not a bad trip from Sac at all!

Yeah, we love the Truckee!
Gonna be stopping to fly fish the Truckee this July on our way up to fish the Smith in NW Cali. Can't wait to hit the Truckee.
That’s awesome, hope you have some luck on the Truckee! The Smith River is gorgeous, that’s going to be a great trip.
Great video and stud whitefish 👊
Thanks 👊
Nice fish! (and the runners up) I like that Flycraft two man raft too.
Thanks! Yeah the flycraft is sweet, we are starting to get the rowing figured out but still have a way to go haha!

Good call on the heat expansion, we have also noticed we have to be careful with too much elevation change if we inflate at the house. Tight lines!

Did I get that right?

That does seem to be a pretty good stretch of water and it’s always fun when you have to be a little stealth!
Did you have any luck?
Great video. Planning a trip up there in late September. Where's a good place to start on the Truckee?
Nice! We like to fish the stretch between Reno and Boca. It is a big stretch but you can catch fish anywhere in there.
I am fishing near Truckee and can’t find any good spots. Do you know any good spots along the Truckee river close to town?
When you say close to town are you saying close to Reno or close to Truckee?

@@ReelsandRidges thank you for the tips. Can a spinning rod with some spoons work? Or does it have to be fly
A spinning rod with spoons could definitely work. Our go-to lures with spinning rods on the Truckee are usually super-dupers or rooster tails
Was it pretty skinny? Just cuz idk every 20 inch fish I've caught has been a two handed fish, impossible to hold with a single hand
That is probably why I ended up dropping it 😂 you are right though, he was fairly skinny for his size.
What patterns were you fishing ?
We fish red perdigon, fire starter perdigon and Spanish bullets quite a bit.
Pulled a 20.5” out in September this year. Euro/high sticking

Cool video!
I’m on the hunt for a 22+ to break my truckee pb brown
Thanks! That’s cool, hope you can get that PB, there are definitely some big browns lurking out there.
Streamers are great for the Truckee
Yeah we used to throw streamers a lot more but have been pretty into ESN lately, but yeah you can do work with streamers too
You are obviously from NorCal
We are actually born and raised in Reno, NV but we do like fishing NorCal
