Been playing Eve online for over 12 years and have only been ganked once in high sec, and as a result of using autopilot in the early days. Following this I always run the MWD/cloak trick and use boomarked routes to 0m on gates.
I had a 350 million ISK module drop in an escalation, and I was nervous to transport it in my cruiser. So I built an Incursus to your specs, with under 2 sec align, and had no issues transporting the module to Jita. A few minutes ago I transported 250 million of shiny modules through Sivala and Uedama to Jita, and again had no issues. Thanks again for this video. - Zake Katzchen
Hello neighbour, I'm also at home in Placid and I must say it's a beautiful place. Fly to Jita, Amarr or Dodoxie at least once a day. The Sunesis, or as I call it Sunny is the first choice here. By adding containers to the hold, I get a capacity of 1,404m³ with my Fit. The align time is 1.91s and with 10.720ehp also Smartbomb safe, I have already had to test. Thanks for the videos, they are always very entertaining. Ahh one more thing : Fly safe ;-) Pilot: PetBoy Sin 🚀
Great video Mark. I appreciate you getting this out when I enquired a month ago about you doing one or if one was in your library of content. I never thought of the Gnosis for hauling and will look at it since I got one free. I use the Occator and Nerius (local PI). I agree with your stance on Dodixie vs Jita and have started using that trade hu more often over the last month. I do notice the price difference but (partly due to your videos) I am at a point that the loot drops and incoming ISK out weigh the stress of flying through the gank points and docking at Jita. Always love the detail of your content! IGN: Airistin Northgate
Hi Mark! Very useful video as usual. A few things based on my personal experience: 1, They can get you even in a sub 2s align ship. Just check the Zkillboard for sunesis kills. There are plenty. And those are not station kills. There are a lot of gate kills. 2, cloak+MWD is really great, but you need to practice a lot to apply without error. 3, You forgot to mention the most important thing to avoid ganks in HS (or anywhere else). Insta dock/undock bookmarks. Without those you are in danger at every station. Especially in trade hubs. With insta undock bookmark you can jump to a safe spot within 1s even in a frighter. Also you can dock without being targetable. I saw a few covert transports blowing up at Jita, because they landed a few hundred meters from the docking zone. I really miss your Snowrunner content mate :(
I never ever say anything I show makes you gank proof... just that it greatly reduces the chance :) 'harder to gank'. Since you could activate the MWD after you cloak the trick is way easier, overheating requires a little practise to time right, like the trick used to. Yes i didn't get into stuff like BM's that could have been another 10 minutes knowing me and I will do a third vid with all the bits i didn't cover but you guys have mentioned! o7 :)
Your videos are always so good, I love watching them even though I've been in game since 2012 (Brood Garrison). One thing to add, you can always include a container to your hold that holds 10% more than the space it takes up.... and if by chance your cargo hold is scanned, they only see the can not its contents.
Very elaborate advice on how to transport high value cargo around space. The frigate option is something which I had not even considered myself actually. The Blockade Runners are my favourite ships for hauling, not only are they able to cloak, fly cloaked and have a decent cargo hold, also these have high warp speeds making the trip a lot shorter in time. Much appreciated for the run down and I hope I'll save some ships with these suggestions. IGN - Dianera Dragosha
It doesn't have to be high value cargo. The risk-reward formula for highsec ganking is heavily in favor of gank first check the cargo later. Even just flying a clone from one place to another in an otherwise empty rookie ship might be ganked if its going through a trade hub bottleneck.
Another useful and well made video! Great idea using your friends, really drove the points home (or not, as the case might me 😬). As always, thanks for sharing!
Most of my hauling is done using my heron, but after events like this last one where Overseers box are the bulk of the loot I break out something bigger. Might try the Sunseis this time. I was omega for a month over the summer and I went out on some hauling runs just so I could try out the MWD cloak trick and it didn't disappoint, very fun getting on gates with no chance of being shot at. IGN: Tension Travis P.S. Dad Dex you can tell your reliable source (Hawk) that they must have missed a hauler because I flew my T1 hauler from Rens to Jita with over a billion ISK in it😎. Just had to hop out into my pod to scout Uedama before I jumped.
Hauling is an activity which few people enjoy and adding that one items to prevent having to travel twice is just so tempting. Considering to travel to other trade hubs is a nice alternative, occassionally I'd create a carrier contract myself. This saves time and allows me to focus on what I like to do. Also it adds a bit of roleplaying to my gamestyle. IGN : Spectral Spectre
Most grateful for the new viewpoint, Sir! I always wanted to take my Procurer to other sites but, after getting whacked in null because she was sooo slooow, I despaired of ever taking her alone. Now I'm going to test that overheated MWD-cloak and probably take her out on a spin! Much Admiration! IGN: Tosadur Boloskarl.
Incredibly useful video! As always thanks for clarifying the options Alphas have. I also appreciate those demonstrations with your friend! It some thing to read about getting killed on a wiki, another to experience it. I hate to wait to lose ships to learn lessons 😂
That wasn't my 'friend' that was my son Dex! :) He has been playing since he was 8, he 21 next month!! Glad those demo's were useful, it is good to not have to imagine what the other guy is seeing.
Lately a ganging corp has been hanging out on the route from Bei to Dixie. Scouts, and a toon in. Moa there quite a bit. It fits a plate and rigs to tank. Two webs and a scram. Guess his job is to hold you while his buddies in system come and get you. The use cats, and a Brutus. Usually freighters, and haulers, but might try pop a smaller ship if scanned. I think they also tech one battleships, and Marauders.
I've been using a navitas as my hauler for a while. It never even occurred to me to use an incursus. I think I'll try doing that instead. Thanks as always for the great tips. IGN: Jae Ablem
Hello sir, you forgot another crucial component. Undock and Dock bookmarks. Their are videos of blockade runners getting ganked due to falling short “warping to zero.”
Oh yes, thanks i could have added that too. I have mentioned that in low sec vids but didn't think to here. I think i spend so little time at Jita I forget how mad it can be there. Gankers fighting bots for ganked loot on the warp in, madness, i love it.
Never had thought of the Incursus. Great tip. Love the Sunesis, but everyone knows what’s up when you’re rolling around in one. Not being an obvious target definitely helps. IGN Gregory Deaconforde
Saw just a Magybo YT vid about blasting shuttles with a smartbomber midwarp in Jita! It looked easy to do. So maybe do not fly direct from gate to 4-4. Edit: typo
For Blockade Runner (Viator, Crane, Prorator and Prowler) it is important to stay alert and keep using the cloak all the time, even when the ship is empty: because it is immune to Cargo Scan, gankers will shoot at it no matter what and hope for the best.
The changes got that closer but it is still fit and skill dependant. I will do more experiments with it. The speed reduction of being cloaked certainly leaves a vulnerable time before you can get into warp if it is fitted just for cargo space and tank.
I've found that not being afraid to slap armor plates/resists on my T1 indys if i don't need the cargo expanders help and sometimes deter gankers after ship scanning. maybe just me tho
Anything that makes you a less easy target is good! If they don't have the dps on grid to easily pew you up they wont bother :) We will look at tanky fits when we look at some baiting techniques too.
Hi Mark, another great Video as usual 👍 Random but is are you recruiting? Recently returned to game and looking for a new home. Can either Omega or Alpha a chat across keep up the good work o7
I agree! To me it’s the most frustrating limitation by far. Prototype but not covops would be a good balance IMO, having nothing makes exploration and hauling unfairly dangerous.
To be fair though if you know what you are doing and stay on the ball there is no reason you can’t do most things without needing cloak’s..cloaks are a tool to make the game easier but it’s far from impossible to play the game quite fully even in nullsec without one…I’m a dedicated alpha character of over 3 years and I do yeet ratting in nullsec , abyssals and lowsec ratting and turn a tidy profit…it just involves playing smarter and getting familiar eith dscan and making safes…there’s no need for a cloak or in fact omega …both expensive luxuries imo
@@Chazie_ I agree in most cases, though “cloak trick” is very hard to replace with anything other than never using gates. It’s such a fundamental mechanic of the game, not letting Alphas use it strikes me as a weird limitation, like if we couldn’t use filaments or probes.
Tbh honest the biggest lack of cloak my alphas feel is when trying to hunt. But yes the cloak mwd would be sooo useful. The thing is if alphas could cloak there would be cloaked alphas all over the place spying as they would be free, anonymous and disposable.. The limits on Alpha can be a pain, but i see the limits are set where farming or exploiting could start.
They can, but if you can get into warp under 2 seconds it is not an issue due to the ticks. Only if you can't use WMD cloak and are a bit slow, IE alpha Nereus can it be an issue. That is why i mix nanofibre internal structures with the Inertia stabilisers, since they dont increase bloom.
@@EVEJer Not sure really. Nanofibres reduce hull strength so I'd go for them as in a frigate it won't really effect how long you last under fire but without the sig rad bloom it might take and extra tick to lock you. I can see the benefits/drawbacks of both.
@@madkeithpet5892 You know I was reading the Uni wiki article on gatecamps and it blew my mind to learn that it makes no difference what your align time is unless it's under the one second line, so 2.9 and 2.1 are equal: 3 second lock time. This means that rather than saying "should I use istabs or nanos" you should add istabs and see if you can get under 2s/3s/etc (full second breakpoints), then start removing and converting to nanos until you've got as little downside as possible (whether that's EHP or signature or just having more slots open for other stuff). Applying this logic let me get my explo imicus way better scan strength without giving anything up! I was wasting entire rig slots on align time! Anyway, I thought it was interesting, and Mark, if you have any thoughts on applying this rule, I'd love to hear them :) wiki.eveuniversity.org/Gate_camps#Fitting
@@EVEJer Yeah like you say part seconds not really count in Eve. I am not sure how the Navy Probe works with it's sub 1 second rate of fire...? Another weirdness the ticks can cause is missiles running out or range, even if the target is within it though at the very extremity. With the Alphas my idea is to not get locked by not still being there. once you are under 2 seconds your sig radius and tank are irrelevant because nothing should ever be able to hit you because you are not there to shoot at the end of the tick. You are right using slots to reduce align time fractions of a second doesn't really make a difference since only the whole seconds really count.
Unlucky. Flying under a war dec is another thing entirely :). We may set up a station in the new year just to attract a war so we can (try to) deal with it.
