Just started to watch and would like to add that you don't need to C to look at the object and then scan when scanning a narrow angle, just hold down V (default button to activate d-scan) and click on the object in the overview - it will be scanned immediately. This way you can d-scan all objects in question very-very quickly.
Got recommended your video by a guy who jumped me in low-sec after I contacted him to congratulate. Thanx for the lesson - you're an excellent teacher.
Thanks Johnny. You guys have just shown Eve at its best, you contacting him and him offering advise. I learnt more about the game after 4 weeks in low sec than i had in 4 years i high sec. Fly Brave o7
I came back to EVE after a very long break (Started playing in late 2015, stopped at 2017, came back 5 days ago) I was an industrialist and a miner, never touched combat aside from casual missions and ratting, I had some great fun, despite how boring mining and industry can be (Being in a corp helps). But now that I came back I wanted to try something new, and that is PVP, ganking, bathing in my enemies blood and tears, etc. I was just thinking this morning how I never truly learned how to use D-scan in an offensive manner, I only used it as a tool that helped me to know when to escape. I stumbled on your channel the day I decided to come back to EVE and I've been watching your videos since, they've helped me a lot. I wanted to comment that I found it kind of hilarious (and fortuitous) that you just uploaded a video on an issue I was thinking about this very morning, I'll make sure to put this lesson to good use, hehe xd. Your content is great, keep it up ;)
Hey Mark, excellent demonstration as always! One tiny bit of efficiency (you probably know this but haven't mentioned in the video) - for narrow angle scanning, instead of click, C, scan, you can simply hold down the scan hotkey and click on the celestial, or even on a signature in the probe window.
Hey Mark, like to throw the hand up when I see you in local. Your doing a good job at teaching the basics to new players. Not to shabby in providing tips to those that have been playing for a few years also. Best intro theme in Eve related videos to. Have a good week Dad Dex.
Yep im gonna link this one whenever someone asks how to Dscan. Nice guide! Also you forgot to mention that if you warp to the middle of a belt cluster, i.e. on a planet that has multiple asteroid belts, you can be smack dab in the middle of the cluster and you can just set your angle to 5 degrees, Shift + V on belts on your overview and your Dscan will auto-track that belt and scan it down. Very useful for hunting.
Thanks! Yes the V click is a quick way to go through stuff, i think i showed that way in the Hunt vids getting the capsules... I did some clicking holding 'c' to speed up the tracking in this one.
That is some extremely useful information right there, and very well presented, too! I like to think that after over 12 years in the game, I learned something useful about locating peoples' safespots and reducing the time your combat probes are out. Thanks! Awesome vid!
This is incredibly useful information! I learned a lot of this during ninja salvaging in lowsec (faction warefare areas) and the egg hunt event and it has proven to be very useful since
This is excellent. I know EO is doing better at on-boarding new players, but tbh, without tutorials like this one, there'd be vast swaths of stuff I'd either never know or would take a ton of learning experiences to sort out.
Loved it a learned a lot. How amazing that you can just type in range! That is going to make that a lot easier than jumping around and triangulating. Thanks!!!
No problem mate! There is always something to learn in this game, I wouldn't have been in it over a decade if not. Just today I realised HAM apply better than heavies. i had never needed to know that before because of how i have used HAM (fits and targets), and a level 4 mission had me checking xD
I warp to the Sansha sites when the incursions are in system and mark them so as to have a deep safe far away from the system core. Sometimes the sites are very far away. Don't know if its considered an exploit or not, I don't think you can put up any structures that way, I think that might be a no no, however I think a safe is okay.
I have a custom dscan filter called combat+pvp+something something plus or minus drones. No idea where I got it and none of my alts have it but its great. Dscan is one of the most powerful tools for pvp, when things get serious for me the system map has to be open too.
You probably got it from some third-party overview setup. You can easily create your own by making a new overview tab, customizing it in overview settings, tab presets, and saving it. You can delete the tab, but the preset will still be available.
The d scan is looking out to 14 AU away, very far. The overview only shows ships close enough to 'interact' with you. You will also see player owned stations some other objects on your d scan the overview does not show.
Hi. Doesn't your camera snap automatically to dscanned object and keep tracking them even while your ship is moving? why do you have to click "track and then "dscan?
This is probably super useful... But the first thing i notice is, the max picture quality is super low... Nothing is readable. Why not upload better quality?
Great video!
Thank you

Yes, you are right, odd thing is i did mention that in previous vids... xD
Just started again after a hiatus and I couldn't, for the life of me, remember how to move the detection cone around. Thank you.

hello Dad Dex eve'in is beliving ;-) go go go
regarding the passive scanning 360 degrees, doesn't anyone appear in the overview aswell? what am i missing?
The d scan is looking out to 14 AU away, very far. The overview only shows ships close enough to 'interact' with you. You will also see player owned stations some other objects on your d scan the overview does not show.
Hi. Doesn't your camera snap automatically to dscanned object and keep tracking them even while your ship is moving? why do you have to click "track and then "dscan?
you can double click v or click c then v, your choice xD
@@daddex9222 but my: hold dscan> click on object auto tracks. Not yours?
This is probably super useful... But the first thing i notice is, the max picture quality is super low... Nothing is readable. Why not upload better quality?
Yeah one did render strangely and it will get an update soon, the text isn't really relevant to the info though xD
@@daddex9222 yeah, I commented too soon. Very good info.
That was very good thx
