I always found it kinda strange he was so obsessed with Luigi in particular (other than the fact that Wario has Mario so he needed a different persona) but the part about Luigi being in the shadows himself really made me realize just how fitting the one sided “rivalry” really is
Admittedly, I kinda feel bad for Waluigi. Yes, he is a jerk and a cheater, who doesn't get along with many people. But the guy is consumed by self-pity and obsession over someone who doesn't even see him the same way. I agree that it's sad he can't even enjoy a victory without trying to upset his so-called rival.
Waluigi secretly being the deepest character in the Mario franchise? Tell me something new! Now, seriously speaking, that was a great video. Knowing all of that information about Waluigi somehow made want a Waluigi centric game EVEN MORE.
Admittedly, it'd be interesting to see what his band of misfits counterpart to the WarioWare employees would be like, like people who look far more fantastical than Waluigi but don't actually have any superpowers.
Very interesting revelations! Honestly makes a lot of sense given his nature of showing up only in spin offs. He's just some guy, and the only chance he gets to prove himself are during sports events and parties. He's otherwise off training. That being said.. if Nintendo ever did cave to the fans and allow Waluigi to appear in more games like Warioware or platformers, with this knowledge in mind it would actually be a very interesting situation for the character. Waluigi would finally be able to try and be a star like he's always dreamed of doing in a more legitimate adventure, or become a bigger part of Wario's life. Would he fumble it and ruin everything for himself? Or would he have more friendly moments like Bowser Jr. has in recent years? It actually would be pretty cool to explore where that would go.
Hey Sean. You seem to know a lot about Waluigi judging from the video and comments. I want to ask you something. I’ve seen people make concepts about what a Waluigi game would look like. And the concepts they made do not sound like something Nintendo would make. So I’m asking you is what do you think a Waluigi game would look like?

This is an enjoyable video by you, Walsh. Glad to see you'll be making more content like this. It's motivating me to make my own Mario Video that I have cooking up. But I do have a nitpick; You say that Waluigi was able to defeat Bowser in single combat, and that is something Mario has not been able to do, which I disagree to. Mario took on Bowser solo and could knock him out in Superstar Saga, and did it again in Bowser's Inside Story (albeit he was weakened by Peach and Starlow at that time). He also had the ability to take on (with Luigi) Dreamy Bowser, a bowser amped by the Dream Stone, the holder of the dreams of many beings. But otherwise, a very informed and well thought out video!
Thanks! Mario knocked Bowser down in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, but Bowser instantly got back up and called off the fight. He wasn’t defeated, unlike the fight with Waluigi. Mario cannot beat Bowser on his own in hand to hand combat. Bowser is significantly stronger. That’s why Mario uses his smarts, surroundings and items to defeat Bowser in every case.
Well of course they never explained his origins. He's a filler character who only exists so Wario would have a partner in Mario Tennis 64 and he only appears in sports titles
You know, I think Waluigi will be better off being in one of the mainline Mario games where he appears either as a villain or protagonist villain in his own centric game.
@@seandwalsh3 I see. I believe that might explain why Waluigi is not playable in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and was instead as an Assist Trophy for the third time? But hey, according to Nintendo of America's former president Reggie Fils-Aime, it's Sakurai's call whether Waluigi will be a playable fighter or not. Although, great video!😀
@@richiecampbell605 The only reason Waluigi was created is because Wario needed a partner in the sports games, thats it. He's not likely to evolve past that.
Admittedly, especially after the princesses' models on Mario Golf Super Rush, I feel like the most likely case would be like some beach volleyball game. Waluigi seems to have a love of limelight and an attempted romantic persona with his signature roses, so surrounding himself with wacky yet beautiful women in a sport seems naturally up his alley. But it probably would be more likely he gets some playformer that emphasizes unique skills rather than platforming prowess akin to Sly Cooper.
I would say so, but it doesn’t have too much depth about who Wario actually is. It’s quite surface level and more serves to convince people to play Wario’s games and begin to think more deeply about the character. I enjoyed it!
