I gotta say, runaway guys nationals was intense. In the fourth gen, waluigi winning nearly 5 boards. in fifth gen winning another 5 games. And in the sixth gen wining 6 games and two of which were rematches was insane.
Forget actual "quality" video essays, can we just get more of this please. If so, I want to see how good the main star of Mario Party is, How GOOD was Luigi ACTUALLY?
That rose adding the grass type to Waluigi did more bad then good. I guess the developers wanted to him to have a fire weakness like Wario, but Wario getting steel was a much better deal.
DK Main over here, and I will agree, DK used to be incredibly busted for a good chunk of the MP competitive scene. Granted he was only UU in 2 because of his favorite item being Bowser Bomb, but 3 really did bring him back to his former glory in 1. Honestly no wonder he was banned in 5 until 10, that whole Banana Slamma mechanic really did make him way too powerful for competitive. Had to switch over to maining Luigi for a bit because of his high luck stat, until Dry Bones and Blooper conquered the meta only for both of them to be Uber in 9. When DK was finally OU again in 10, I couldn't've been happier.
9:23, wow the meta is really slow! I flocked to the "your lousy" ability back in Mario Party 3! It's amazing. I'd say it alone makes him a top-tier threat even back then.
Important thing to note, these preferred items only apply if it's a _computer_ version of the character (not counting 7). A _human_ doesn't have any reason to avoid him because of this, as under no circumstance will a human be forced against a CPU DK outside of Story Modes (which either need to be done with each character anyway, or are not an option for Waluigi, 8 being the only exception). Duel Mode _does_ affect him as implied though.
I'm a fan of Gen VI, but even I'll admit that the uber scene was at its least interesting there. DK/Bowser were too evenly matched. Sure DK had his Solar Slamma, and Bowser was all about Late Nite Kapers, but at the end of the day they worked out to about the same thing. Usually it'd just come down to DK winning because of his three-turn speed advantage.
I think Wario should be analyzed for the next video. From the dueling glove to the meta defining "D'oh I missed!" Ability Wario's presence in the Mario Party meta scene was quite strong.
Decent. Nicely lighthearted, with some decent semi-serious analysis! Shame you skipped over some games, & actually approached the "competitive" elements of Mario Party. Good video, thanks for uploading!
In gen 8 I was a real sleeper god in my matches since I was a Waluigi main. Until my friends caught on to my tricks everyone was confused how the fox in the room kept owning everyone. While the days of 8 are over and I don't get cheeky wins anymore, the old gang still gets together sometimes to play for old time's sake. We even developed a sort of micro meta. Did you know that Hammer Bro's taunts had a bonus morale decrease against Dry Bones? Apparently he's not above cutting down the poor girl on a personal level to get an advantage.
Well, now you've gotten started. I know I won't see anything beyond "he was a mid-tier" nine times, but I've just gotta ask: How good was Yoshi ACTUALLY?
Btw if you ever feel like covering a Fire Emblem Game you'll probably get a few of my friends on board. Aside from that I would love an analysis to the Toon Series of LoZ, since Spirit Tracks is my favourite one from the whole franchise for having Zelda along for the whole journey and making her an important ally to complete the game. It was nice playing a game where the two characters relied on each other and through their journey visibly grew closer to each other as well. ...also trains are neat.
Nah, Waluigi's signature item in 4 is Bowser Suit. This is one mean money maker, its cons are that it is really rare and can't have multiple dice blocks, meaning if you have bad rolls then you get nothing.
@@DesigningFor Oh, I've been lied to. But yeah, I didn't the knew the manual said Waluigi liked the Sparky Sticker, since the game I bought online did not came with a manual, all I knew was that Waluigi was holding a bowser mushroom in the cover, and I thought that would be his signature item.

There's a lack of boards, at only five, and I greatly dislike two of them, Toadette's Music Room (for its music, mostly) and Kamek's Library (for its tedium thanks to its over-reliance on RNG). And with two more boards being only okay, that leaves only Bowser's Pinball Machine to have fun with. Sound quality is really bad, even for a DS game, there's almost no innovation, the final boss is laughable, the mini-games are unmemorable, and most of the game's content is just a grind in gathering points, a similar issue I have with Mario Party 7, though 7 is more experimental with its board gimmicks. But I like the puzzle games!
