You know what the most tragic thing about this is? Haters are still gonna hate... and Chris REALLY deserves better. I seriously think that every youtuber, big or small, who ever said something bad about Chris/Irate, made fun of him, or berated him in any way, should make a video response with a big time appology. No, I'm not joking. I am fx also a big fan of Game Theory, I love MattPatt's videos, but when he in one episode, even if it was only for a split second, included a picture of Chris for negative purposes, I sat and thought "no, Matt, not you too". I also watched a panel with JonTron, PeanutButterGamer, ProJared, and another I don't remember, where I think ProJared was the one to suddenly bring up the IrateGamer as a taboo reference, to which I took the liberty of posting a comment where I once again tried to defend Chris. I understand that regular people AKA subscribers, may not be able to see through all these misunderstandings and controversies because they are blinded by hatret and fanboyism... but it kinda bugs me that even these bigger youtubers don't see the bigger picture and just goes along on the "IrateHater ride".

Didn’t start watching the “angry retro game review” RUclipsrs until like 2013. I did start with AVGN then found the Irate Gamer and missed out on the whole “rivalry” thing! From my perspective though, having come in much later, I must say that both reviewers are very good! I love the Similarities AND the differences between the two series. Obviously James started first and the Irate gamer and AVGN crossover video last year did a perfect job of putting a close to the whole thing! I thought that video was great! 👍🏻 both can exist together and be great. Isn’t two of the same thing albeit different in taste, color or smell be better than one! Chris uses allot of game sprites in his videos and he’s got that cool aid man costume and Ronny the Skeleton! Cant beat that with a stick! 😄 While on the other hand James does allot of great facial expressions, gotta love that perfect frowny face☹️ and he does those little story skits that tie in at the end of his videos! I greatly enjoy both! Keep up the good work Chris look forward to more Irate Gamer videos😁
Irategamer I don't care what the haters say, I liked your videos. Maybe you can review Generation 1 Transformer action figures for Irate the 80's. The only minor gripe I have with you is that I tried to order season 1 of The Irate Gamer & I never received it. Thought to myself "no big deal I can still catch your videos on your website".
You guys can't just suddently respect and take a guys side after hearing only one side of the story. Bores ripped off James, and he never, ever mentioned his name in a video since he started doing so. It's probably the Skylanders people who forced him to make this video for them to keep sponsoring him. It's all a joke.
I used to watch your vids back then and I watched the AVGN videos too. I've never really bought into all the hate towards you. I've always felt that you had a different style than AVGN and that was it. It's really interesting to see your side of the story now. I wish James would do the same. It would be super nice to see the both of you guys get together and do a collab or something at some point to put all this crap behind you.
You're very brave for making this video...That's a good thing. I think you have matured since the inception of your show and the Irate Gamer show has matured with it. Stubbornness is one of the best virtues to have, and you certainly have it, Chris. As someone who knows what it feels like to only have like 100 subs and not be very popular, and get's a TON of hate, your story is truly inspiring to me. i always saw Irate gamer as like the Friday the 13th to AVGNs Halloween. sure they have a lot in common one is obviously inspired by the other. but they both have their marits. and these days they have both had their ups and downs. id never fault someone for preferring one over the other. and as a fan of both Friday and Halloween i also like Irate and the Nerd kinda equally i do still lean more towards AVGN even though i think even he has gotten a bit stale in recent years. but the early days of AVGN and Irate Gamer when both were at their peak are almost equal in my eyes

After seeing AVGN's movie, I'd say he missed a home run by not keeping the story simpler and using you as the movie's villain as a twist. Then by the end, he could be man enough and shake your hand and say there's enough shitty games for everyone to review and that he's not THE GAMER as his movie wants us to believe. Much respect for this candid video.
I recommended that the AVGN Adventures game should have had IG as the final boss, and it should've been a Dark Link-esque battle from the Legend of Zelda where both characters copy each others' moves. I thought it would have been pretty neat. But then the AVGN community got really offended and took a huge crap all over me just for the sake of being fanboys. Truth be told, Chris, I watched you only around your first few videos and judged you right then and there. I was on the whole ripoff bandwagon. But seeing this video and also how Archfiend exposed James Rolfe for the person he really is, I really have a lot of respect for you. Since than many things have changed. I've started doing my own videos (sadly you can't check them out since they are in russian). I just wanted to tell you that I know how you feel. I've been watching your videos since 2008 I guess and... Yeah, some jokes were ok some didn't work, there were mistakes. But I didn't care. I've seen you putting lots of hard work in your videos. I actually like some of your reviews more than AVGN's. Suck as Mario's Time Machine for example. It is more detailed and you showed more of the game. For me, your videos always were entertainment, not history lesson or something like that. Hang in there and know, that there are people who respect you and like your videos. (Long Comment ahead WHOOHOO!) I've been watching you Chris since I was in High School back in 2008 and you're in one of my fave youtubers next to AVGN, NC, Pewdie, and others. You were one of my inspirations when making videos when I was in HS because that was the point of me blooming and learning how to make videos especially rewatching your Kool Aid Man, Ghost and Goblins, ROB, Aladdin, 7UP and others over and over. During that time, I was also exposed to the AVGN vs Irate Gamer shenanigans and I'm like "These two are entertaining, why would people bash the latter?" Well for me is because people doesn't want to see other users doing the same thing as what their fave stars are doing and bashes them with it. It's ironic because 2009 maybe was the year where reviewers are blossoming from around the corner. I still salute you Chris as one of my faves even until now I still remember one of your videos!

Totally unrelated, but I did a quick search while watching your old Goonies 2 video and found out the reason behind why we only got Goonies 2 in USA: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goonies_%28video_game%29 It was just as I suspected as happened to many other games, that the first Goonies game was only released in Japan for the Famicom at first. Not sure if you knew that before but hopefully that helps you sleep better lol.

Over the years I've lost touch with your videos as I've grown older but I never thought of you as what these people made you out to be. Hey Chris! Ever since I was in middle school, I've always loved watching your videos! I hope we'll still get to see more of the irate gamer, despite all the negativity and controversy, because they're hilarious and have character! Keep doing what you love, man!
I remember the "angry reviewers" from years ago and the only thing that was remotely entertaining about most of them was seeing the drama that went on within the inner circle of the angry reviewers. One thing I was impressed by was how you never ever engaged with the haters. While I know many people are saying you should have made this years ago, knowing how the general climate was in the community back then, it's unlikely it would have done any good and just tried to find more reasons to hate on you. Another thing that never sat well with me was when James and Mike released the e-mail you sent to them that I felt was very heartfelt and genuine. You were just trying to show some professional courtesy and them releasing the e-mail for all to read was less then professional and I definitely saw them in a different light after that. I've always had a sense that you remained humble while I felt they got more arrogant to the point they severely overestimated their fame and and fans loyalty to them. For what it's worth I feel you handled it better then the majority in your position would have.

He was making his money while James was getting screwed over by Screw Attack (Ironic right lol) and making a pittance for his videos while Screw Attack reaped the benefits. IG just sat back and made his money, and let the children fight each other on the internet like idiots.

Esokol88 lol. Yeah really. I think James wasn't a terrible guy. Maybe a bit of a typical New Jersey dickweed, but not altogether "evil". Mike is clearly an unfunny, drug addict and all around dummy, but I think James just got worse over time due to being bitter that IG was making more money than he even though he started a bit earlier and some of his videos were clearly of better quality than IG's, he just didn't have the foresight to market himself better, and like you said, making continual, horrible business decisions and screwing himself over. The fact that James thought that IG was "ripping him off" shows just how delusional he became after years of hard work and only getting that small pittance from Screw Attack. There is no way he would have originally believed that IG was ripping him off because nothing James was saying or doing was original. His commentaries consisted of saying things that everyone said about those old games he played. Even the whole concept for his RUclips videos, riffing on shitty games, was an idea he copied from the TV show, "Mystery Science Theater 3000", which riffed on bad movies. He has even brought up that show on a few occasions so he is definitely aware of it and that is clearly where he got his inspiration. Even when someone asked him early on what he thought of people mimicking his angry reviewer style, he said that he was happy people did that, encouraged more people to do it, and considered it very flattering. Years of poor business decisions and probably also from Mike's negativity, he went back on his words. The most damaging thing to his reputation was that list of demands he gave IG when IG wrote the letter that he was a big fan of his, and then going on to post that private letter online. That's when he crossed the line and became a total creep. I think Mike was always a drug addict loser who was probably James' friend when they were kids and when James found a modicum of success doing those videos, Mike latched on to him like flies on dogshit.
Truth be told, I was proud of you when you did that parody video of AVGN in regards to the kickstarter and the CheetahMen because I felt it was needed when a person's ego gets so big with e-celebrities. I'm glad that you were able to make it out alright after the angry game era of youtube. I'm not going to lie, I did have a laugh when I was watching Phelen Porteous' video and there was a video of Ali Baba & The Gold Raiders that Harry Partridge animated. Controversy sells like it did with AVGN feeding his cult.
In my personal opinion, I don't think James intentionally meant to ignore you. Usually for gamers that become as big as he is now, they usually don't have time to reply to email messages they receive. That does't mean they necessarily hate you. I don't hate you Chris, I wish the best for you and encourage you to keep doing what you're doing. Who knows, someday, you and James might get together for a surprising yet fine review.

This is my first time seeing an Irate Gamer video that has over 350 likes while also having under 15 dislikes. It's quite refreshing.

You know what the most tragic thing about this is? Haters are still gonna hate... and Chris REALLY deserves better.
I seriously think that every youtuber, big or small, who ever said something bad about Chris/Irate, made fun of him, or berated him in any way, should make a video response with a big time appology. No, I'm not joking.
I am fx also a big fan of Game Theory, I love MattPatt's videos, but when he in one episode, even if it was only for a split second, included a picture of Chris for negative purposes, I sat and thought "no, Matt, not you too".
I also watched a panel with JonTron, PeanutButterGamer, ProJared, and another I don't remember, where I think ProJared was the one to suddenly bring up the IrateGamer as a taboo reference, to which I took the liberty of posting a comment where I once again tried to defend Chris.
I understand that regular people AKA subscribers, may not be able to see through all these misunderstandings and controversies because they are blinded by hatret and fanboyism... but it kinda bugs me that even these bigger youtubers don't see the bigger picture and just goes along on the "IrateHater ride".
One person facepalmed in a response comment I made on a video where I claimed that Bores got a bit better in game reviews in 2010, assume he was one of the those people who cannot believe that Chris can really improve.

Didn’t start watching the “angry retro game review” RUclipsrs until like 2013. I did start with AVGN then found the Irate Gamer and missed out on the whole “rivalry” thing! From my perspective though, having come in much later, I must say that both reviewers are very good! I love the Similarities AND the differences between the two series. Obviously James started first and the Irate gamer and AVGN crossover video last year did a perfect job of putting a close to the whole thing! I thought that video was great! 👍🏻 both can exist together and be great. Isn’t two of the same thing albeit different in taste, color or smell be better than one! Chris uses allot of game sprites in his videos and he’s got that cool aid man costume and Ronny the Skeleton! Cant beat that with a stick! 😄 While on the other hand James does allot of great facial expressions, gotta love that perfect frowny face☹️ and he does those little story skits that tie in at the end of his videos! I greatly enjoy both! Keep up the good work Chris look forward to more Irate Gamer videos😁

I used to watch your vids back then and I watched the AVGN videos too. I've never really bought into all the hate towards you. I've always felt that you had a different style than AVGN and that was it. It's really interesting to see your side of the story now. I wish James would do the same. You're very brave for making this video...That's a good thing. I think you have matured since the inception of your show and the Irate Gamer show has matured with it. Stubbornness is one of the best virtues to have, and you certainly have it, Chris. As someone who knows what it feels like to only have like 100 subs and not be very popular, and get's a TON of hate, your story is truly inspiring to me. i always saw Irate gamer as like the Friday the 13th to AVGNs Halloween. sure they have a lot in common one is obviously inspired by the other. but they both have their marits. and these days they have both had their ups and downs. id never fault someone for preferring one over the other. and as a fan of both Friday and Halloween i also like Irate and the Nerd kinda equally i do still lean more towards AVGN even though i think even he has gotten a bit stale in recent years. but the early days of AVGN and Irate Gamer when both were at their peak are almost equal in my eyes

After seeing AVGN's movie, I'd say he missed a home run by not keeping the story simpler and using you as the movie's villain as a twist. Then by the end, he could be man enough and shake your hand and say there's enough shitty games for everyone to review and that he's not THE GAMER as his movie wants us to believe.

I recommended that the AVGN Adventures game should have had IG as the final boss, and it should've been a Dark Link-esque battle from the Legend of Zelda where both characters copy each others' moves. I thought it would have been pretty neat. But then the AVGN community got really offended and took a huge crap all over me just for the sake of being fanboys. Truth be told, Chris, I watched you only around your first few videos and judged you right then and there. I was on the whole ripoff bandwagon. But seeing this video and also how Archfiend exposed James Rolfe for the person he really is, I really have a lot of respect for you. You've definitely earned a subscription that you should've got years ago. Keep it up.

I just wanted to tell you that I know how you feel. I've been watching your videos since 2008 I guess and... Yeah, some jokes were ok some didn't work, there were mistakes. But I didn't care. I've seen you putting lots of hard work in your videos.
I actually like some of your reviews more than AVGN's. Suck as Mario's Time Machine for example. It is more detailed and you showed more of the game. For me, your videos always were entertainment, not history lesson or something like that. Hang in there and know, that there are people who respect you and like your videos. You've done really well by handling all that hate that people threw at you. I won't lie, some parody's of your videos were actually pretty funny.

I've been watching you Chris since I was in High School back in 2008 and you're in one of my fave youtubers next to AVGN, NC, Pewdie, and others. You were one of my inspirations when making videos when I was in HS because that was the point of me blooming and learning how to make videos especially rewatching your Kool Aid Man, Ghost and Goblins, ROB, Aladdin, 7UP and others over and over. During that time, I was also exposed to the AVGN vs Irate Gamer shenanigans and I'm like "These two are entertaining, why would people bash the latter?" Well for me is because people doesn't want to see other users doing the same thing as what their fave stars are doing and bashes them with it. It's ironic because 2009 maybe was the year where reviewers are blossoming from around the corner. I still salute you Chris as one of my faves even until now I still remember one of your videos!

Totally unrelated, but I did a quick search while watching your old Goonies 2 video and found out the reason behind why we only got Goonies 2 in USA: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goonies_%28video_game%29 It was just as I suspected as happened to many other games, that the first Goonies game was only released in Japan for the Famicom at first. Not sure if you knew that before but hopefully that helps you sleep better lol.

You were my first angry video game reviewer I watched back in the day when I was about 11 years old (absolutely crazy how time has flown!) and my parents didn't like it because your show had profanity in it but I just didn't care because they genuinely made me happy and laugh back then. Over the years I've lost touch with your videos as I've grown older but I never thought of you as what these people made you out to be. You seemed to be a genuinely nice guy who liked doing what he is doing. I'm glad you finally were able to speak and give light on these issues (I know this was a year and a half ago when you posted it but I got curious after a bit nostalgia so I looked around) and show everyone the truth.

I remember the "angry reviewers" from years ago and the only thing that was remotely entertaining about most of them was seeing the drama that went on within the inner circle of the angry reviewers. One thing I was impressed by was how you never ever engaged with the haters. While I know many people are saying you should have made this years ago, knowing how the general climate was in the community back then, it's unlikely it would have done any good and just tried to find more reasons to hate on you.
Another thing that never sat well with me was when James and Mike released the e-mail you sent to them that I felt was very heartfelt and genuine. You were just trying to show some professional courtesy and them releasing the e-mail for all to read was less then professional and I definitely saw them in a different light after that. I've always had a sense that you remained humble while I felt they got more arrogant to the point they severely overestimated their fame and and fans loyalty to them. For what it's worth I feel you handled it better then the majority in your position would have.
Fucking right! He never got into that bullshit because he was above all of that. He was making his money while James was getting screwed over by Screw Attack (Ironic right lol) and making a pittance for his videos while Screw Attack reaped the benefits. IG just sat back and made his money, and let the children fight each other on the internet like idiots.

Esokol88 lol. Yeah really. I think James wasn't a terrible guy. Maybe a bit of a typical New Jersey dickweed, but not altogether "evil". Mike is clearly an unfunny, drug addict and all around dummy, but I think James just got worse over time due to being bitter that IG was making more money than he even though he started a bit earlier and some of his videos were clearly of better quality than IG's, he just didn't have the foresight to market himself better, and like you said, making continual, horrible business decisions and screwing himself over. The fact that James thought that IG was "ripping him off" shows just how delusional he became after years of hard work and only getting that small pittance from Screw Attack. There is no way he would have originally believed that IG was ripping him off because nothing James was saying or doing was original. His commentaries consisted of saying things that everyone said about those old games he played. Even the whole concept for his RUclips videos, riffing on shitty games, was an idea he copied from the TV show, "Mystery Science Theater 3000", which riffed on bad movies. He has even brought up that show on a few occasions so he is definitely aware of it and that is clearly where he got his inspiration. Even when someone asked him early on what he thought of people mimicking his angry reviewer style, he said that he was happy people did that, encouraged more people to do it, and considered it very flattering. Years of poor business decisions and probably also from Mike's negativity, he went back on his words. The most damaging thing to his reputation was that list of demands he gave IG when IG wrote the letter that he was a big fan of his, and then going on to post that private letter online. That's when he crossed the line and became a total creep. I think Mike was always a drug addict loser who was probably James' friend when they were kids and when James found a modicum of success doing those videos, Mike latched on to him like flies on dogshit.

Truth be told, I was proud of you when you did that parody video of AVGN in regards to the kickstarter and the CheetahMen because I felt it was needed when a person's ego gets so big with e-celebrities. I'm glad that you were able to make it out alright after the angry game era of youtube.
I'm not going to lie, I did have a laugh when I was watching Phelen Porteous' video and there was a video of Ali Baba & The Gold Raiders that Harry Partridge animated. Controversy sells like it did with AVGN feeding his cult.
In my personal opinion, I don't think James intentionally meant to ignore you. Usually for gamers that become as big as he is now, they usually don't have time to reply to email messages they receive. That does't mean they necessarily hate you.
I don't hate you Chris, I wish the best for you and encourage you to keep doing what you're doing.
Who knows, someday, you and James might get together for a surprising yet fine review.
