- Starlink Review - Things to know before you buy in Nigeria
Elon Musk's Starlink officially became available to Nigeria and it came with some advantages. However, it turns out Starlink is not quite that internet solution we've been looking for.
This is a review of Starlink based on my experience using it for over two weeks.

Nice review. However, you are wrong on the data cap part. There is no data cap yet for Nigeria. Data cap of 1tb is planned for April starting with US & Canada.
Regards support, they use support ticket like you mentioned. Unfortunately, it takes an average of 7 to 10 days to get feedback. On the flip side, they do have an amazing customer service, as they will replace the damaged equipment FOC as long as they were damaged out of the box.
My 75ft cable and Ethernet adapter were damaged, for the cable, I got a free replacement plus my subscription got extended by a month for free. Also, the Ethernet adapter also got replaced for free and they threw in a new modem as well on the off chance that the issue is with the modem and not the ethernet adapter.
Thanks for your contribution. It's the 3rd week and my friend has not heard from Starlink. I have a couple others that are yet to get feedback from them regarding recent orders. So if they can work on responding to customer issues swiftly then we can confirm their good customer service.
@@izziboye That's sad. Although, I expected the slow feedback and all that but in the span of a month, I have raised 4 support tickets over a variety of issues and gotten feedback. The trick is to try and reply on those tickets everyday and give as much details as you possible can. Case in point, my first issue was a damaged cable. I logged the case on the 10th and got a feedback on the 16th. Maybe they should try this trick and see if it works for them
@@HenryEgonu Imagine asking your customers after paying such huge amounts of money to reply to tickets everyday so they can get a reply in 7-10 days. Its the way you sound so out of touch and don't even realize it for me. I saw your comments on twitter, and your reply to my own comment here. Because I didn't personally buy it doesn't mean 3 other people living in the same building as me did not. Testing other peoples devices does not make me less of a tech reviewer and it's quite obtuse of you to suggest that I need to first waste my own money before gathering objective opinions about something as simple as bad customer support for an expensive product. That said I really hope you are getting paid enough to copy paste these lies all over the internet. Nigerians are wiser now, we are not test subject for poor planning and terrible products. If it's bad, we will say it and there is absolutely nothing you will do about it. Have a nice day.
@@KaganTech well written bro. Yeah, you made some points here that seem valid. Unfortunately, you just had to bring in your own obtuse mentality that I am being paid for it. That's fine, that's your opinion though.
To respond to your points sir, you said you are a tech reviewer and can't waste your money to purchase just to review. I guess that makes the likes of Izzi, Folasodu, quite silly to be wasting that money to purchase and review. Or you think they were sent review unit from the OEM to review? Whichever you think, this mindset here makes me wonder why I should bother to watch your review when you can't even take time to invest to review it over a period of time to actually put out a real non-biased view from a 1st hand experience. Case in point, Folasodu has gotten his for almost a month now and still putting his review together but you are quick to rush out a "review" based off of your "3 friends" who use it in the same building with you.
That brings me to my next point, you also displayed quite a dull approach to your review. I mean, what will it take to make a research to see that this company from day one has no customer support number or email and relies only on support tickets. This has been their MO from day one and not just for Nigeria. But no, you were quick to say yada yada about customer service and all. I made mention of the fact they use a poor kind of support service but when they do reply, they achieve way more than any in Nigeria currently that have a customer care number and email.
This is getting too long, but in summary sir, to be tech reviewer you need to have a balanced approach to things. Don't go off spouting stuff and sounding so emotional where you need to be neutral and present facts. Heck you even said one of your so called friend disassembled the device and fixed it himself. I think he's even a better tech reviewer than you are if indeed that happened.
@izzi Boye, my apologies for the rant.
@@izziboyehi there we can confirm that Starlinks has readily dodgy customer service all over the world. Yes they replace items for free but the timing to get those items will leave you frustrated. We hear it’s worse in the Phillipines and Nigeria according to a review on Slaylebrity
When I went viral for saying all these... They said I was trying to ruin the business of the most innovative piece of tech in recent times. Chelsea come on now 💀
Haha it's simple, you just tell them to go and buy it. One came to my comments on the video I posted on IG last week to say I've been paid by MTN
Chelsea come on now💀
@@izziboye 😂😂 people sef 😒
@@zealcodes who are you talking to?
@kagan Some of the points you raised were wrong, and they were not made based off of a 1st hand experience as a reviewer. Which even makes it worse.
You talked about the upload speed being slow. It is better now or is it still slow?
Still slow, probably even worse now
Hello Izzi Boye, Please can you do a comparison between MTNs Fiber Network and Starlinks? I wanna procure one of the two and I would really appreciate an in-depth analysis to help me decide which to go for.
Awesome video, I had to give a follow
To think people were rushing to get this, some are probably bitting their fingers quietly rn.

By far the BEST Starlink review for Nigerians. Kudos! 👍
Thanks for sharing. Puts everything in good perspective.
Thanks chief
Thanks for this review. I almost purchased.
I doubt your gonna reply but is there any good isps in Nigeria cuz I'm moving there for a bit 😅 WiFi over there doesn't seem promising no offence 😢
Does Startlink Gen3 works in Nigeria?
amazing Video BROTHER, LOVE IT

Do you have to subscribe monthly with the starlink?
I have a very important question about Starlink, and I hope to get an answer. Can you use dollars for monthly payment? An alternative to Nigerian currency or the device is mandatory. Nigerian currency is used during the monthly payment
Yes you can use dollars but Starlink recently made it possible to pay in naira, I paid my last subscription with a naira card and the rate was not even close to current black market rate but in the past I made monthly payments with my access bank dollar card.
5:30 Gamer here and I've been frustrated with MTN's disappointing latency when playing online.
Do you mean that it's not any better than MTN? I was really considering this but now I'm disappointed. Thanks
Have you try any Fibre network? I heard their latency is very low with unlimited data cap for less than 12k. I contacted them but unfortunately, their service is not yet in my area.. You might get lucky.
It’s way better than MYN by a lot.
Nigeria Starlink: $12.99 PER MONTH and $180 Equipment Price.
USA Starlink: $120 PER MONTH and $600 Equipment Price. Why am I paying a 1000% markup?
Very well made video.👍🏿

Hello,
I live in Sénégal and I have the starlink hardware but I am looking for a subscription in Nigeria.
Hi Nice and very informative Video BUt plss update us we r now in APR 2024
For goodness sakes, stay away from this company if possible. If your service goes down, you may be in for the most frustrating, incompetent, ridiculous customer service possible. I will be contacting the Texas attorney general to get my equipment back. Starink has no right to keep my equipment. I paid $649 for that equipment. It isn't theirs to keep.
Please Izzi, help me make a choice between Tecno spark 9 pro, spark 9T and Infinix hot 12. Which would you take if it was you?
spark 9pro would be better sha.. depends on the chipset bro
@@hero-techreviews thank you
Great review. At least I know what to expect before purchasing it
It’s not worth it. Rather buy an MTN 5g router and sub 200k
Gosh, no ethernet? That's me floored, then. I use a lan cable like most dinosaurs, and I was half hoping Starlink would have one. Oh, well. . .
Still waiting gor the day someone using starlink will test ping on fortnite
How can I make 6 months upfront subscription on starlink
Please can recommend an unlimited internet service provider within Abuja? I just want to download games on ps5 and you know how huge the games can get
Pls what's a better option, I'm a freelancer and I've lost opportunities cos of internet speed
How is the upload speed now, woth the weather issues ilhas it improved??
Nice Review but i think the extra hassle in acquiring and using it, is not worth it. Settling for MTN 5G router looks like the best way to go.
Especially in bad weather.
It’s not hard to acquire and the difficultly in setting up was only due to the lack of knowledge/familiarity with the set up process.
The performance in the rain is a huge letdown.
Looking for the best starlink agency in Nigeria ?
How to connect t the app. can you change the password or it has a default password that you can't change
This is a very good presentation. Please will starlink give me a permanent I.P address?
First
Mentioned your location in Nigeria please. I will work with my engineers to confirm it
Thank you! I almost bought it today!
It was the unlimited data that’s why I bought it
Thanks so much for this review, I was just about to order one, but decided to check out if there are any reviews out there. I mainly livestream movies, etc. I have cancelled my DSTV and watch everything online, so what do you think? Is it suitable for live-streaming over 3 TV’s while the phones, laptops are still connected?
It’s very smooth, I’ve been using the network for the past 1month no issue.
It's very smooth for Streaming, 4k and more
I want to order mine in the UK, can I bring to Nigeria and use it here?
@@princess2121 No - dont do that. The antenna are region locked. You need an African continent antenna for the service to work in Nigeria
@@shinene2433 starlink you mean?
ThNks for the review.. na to leave the start links for now. Till it gets better
can i use the Starlink for church?
Pls how much is the total amount you get it??
Am paying through payday
Are you one of those nigerian prince😂
Hello Izzi!
Pls what happen when i exosted the 1TB on starlink, will it stop working or it will ask me for another subscription?
It's true unlimited. It won't stop working
Please what’s the upload and download latency?
Great video but Starlink does not have a 1TB cap in Nigeria, I have exceeded 1.2TB and my internet speed was not throttled. Please do your findings.
Yea, I wasn't sure of that one that's why I said I'll confirm when I've used 1TB. Others have also mentioned exceeding 1TB with no throttle in speed, so that's great.
Maybe my glo mifi is still a better alternative since I was considering buying the star Link
I rather buy MTN 5G router
Me too
Data allocated is where the issue is
@@Ekpes_boi really how do you mean?
@@hero-techreviews the data starlink gives for a month is what MTN will give for a year @85k to 90k
@@Ekpes_boi Sterlink only gave 1tb per a month, but you will have to pay for another sub whether you used it up or not. My thought.
Nice video Izzy ❤🎉
Which card do you use in ordering like the app it worked for
Does asus rapture gt-ax11000 supported in Nigeria?
Thanks a lot for the review. Thinking of getting this for a remote Airbnb in Kenya
How many phones do you have??
pls can you review tp link
I bought a standard starlink kit in France and I'd like to know if I can use it in Africa.
No. It seems it is region-locked
really well produced video.
On fire 🔥 poi
"When it rains it pause" 😂
Please do they have an office in Lagos ?
Hello, can we order the Starling kit in the UK and send it to Nigeria for the family or do we have to order it from Nigeria for it to work ?
Hello, I have 4 brand new Starlink devices for sale, I live in Ibadan incase you are interested.
I like the way you make honest effective reviews mate👊🏾… I pray your channel grows and you reach more people with your content👍🏽
Nice, content but, u r 💯 copying MKBH gestures and everything. find ur style and go with it.

oh, ALAS he knows MKBHD @@izziboye . nice content BTW. cheer have a good day. you will do great things...
A lovely review bro. @Izzi please, how smooth is it for streaming? And can it be traveled with? I mean within Nigeria!
The streaming is 100%, the network is really unmatched unless you want to upload huge files.
I really need this.. Time to give MTN a middle finger.. With their 💩 unlimited plan that got cut off after a week.. 5gb per day that runs out before midday.. Time to break the ⛓ I wonder if starlink can allow a retail purchase 🤔 imagine all that people who wants to buy but don't have dollar cards or just can't go through all the troubles.
Julia is there
You can get it from me for affordable price
How to connect starlink network
Votre numéro du service
Thanks for the review my question is that can I give my friend the setup and connect to sterlink network but we no close we are on different state?
Starlink only works where you've set it up. Unless you and your friend stay in the same house, you can't both use the same starlink setup
@@izziboye thanks
We have bought it we don’t know how to install it
It's easy to use and install. Just download the app and follow the guide
I live in a semi remote area in Port Harcourt, I have an MTN, Airtel and Smile Router most funtion well during the day but in the night when there's congestion, I experience premium frustration. I'm partaking in a training from the US via zoom and training hours are between 7-10pm, I'm unable to optimise my learning because of my shady Internet at that time. I need something that can solve this problem for me because post training I will need a good Internet to function for the US firm, I work for, and given the time difference, I'm going to need to be functional at night in Nigerian time.
Good day. Were you able to find a solution for this here in port harcourt?
Yes I got the starlink and it saved the day
Really good review ❤
“When it rains, it pause” 😂😂
All pun intended
Thanks

Great review Izzi
Mine works well even during rain
Same thing here. But there is a degradation of service during rain but it hasn't been totally unusable for me during rains as many claim.
@@HenryEgonu good evening Henry, what is the lowest speed you've experienced during raining?
@@emmanueligbadia4534 4 to 15mbps. It loses service if it the rain gets really heavy.
Thank you so much for the feedback sir.
Please how long did it take before your starlink got delivered to you...
Nice review can settle for MTN hotspot when it rains heavily 6Mbps can still serve me so am going for it
You'll enjoy it actually. As long as you understand its limitations

Starlink
@@TheDonkuliano you use one?
The 1tb fair usage policy is only for Canada and USA. You only get deprioritized when you reach 1tb usage which means your internet speed only drops whenever there is network congestion. Due to the low number of starlink subscribers in Nigeria, it will be very difficult to have starlink network congestion in Nigeria meaning starlink speed will never drop even when you hit the 1tb. As of now, there is no 1tb fair usage policy in Nigeria. It only applies to starlink users in Canada and USA because they have a lot of starlink subscribers
Will confirm when I reach 1TB used.
@@izziboye ok. I am somehow glad starlink is getting poor reception in Nigeria which obviously isn't far fetched because of its limitations. I am happy because it means Nigeria will never experience starlink network congestion due to the low number of starlink subscribers. I just ordered mine yesterday. Can't wait to start enjoying stable internet outside rainy days. Mtn and Airtel network are also bad during the rain and there is no fibre internet option where I reside. Starlink remains the best option for me since I already own an inverter solar system
The congestion is already starting. I tried to change my location recently and got a warning that my current service area is reaching its limit and I may not be able to bring it back if I make the change. It could be a marketing gimmick to force one into adding the portability package to their account.
Definitely no congestion. Probably a gimmick
@@attah9633 I agree it's a marketing gimmick. USA had over 100,000 subscribers before they started having network congestion. I don't think Nigeria has up to 50,000 starlink subscribers currently. Unless they meant congestion in a particular area like Lagos Island. I stay at Anambra and I doubt there will be starlink internet congestion over here anytime soon
Got mine recently my speed is about 80mbps in Suleja Niger state
Bro, thinking of placing an order but am seeing $9 on the website. Where are the hidden costs and how much is the total order in usd?
Hi there! Thank you for this. I’m wondering if you’ve been able to pay for your monthly subscription since you purchased it. I have tried all types of cards( USD & GBP) but I still I can’t pay. Please can I know how you’ve been able to subscribe? Thank you.
I subscribe using the same card I used to purchase it. A GTB dollar debit card
Can one make payment with Naira card?
Can I use it on my ps5 to play FIFA online? Local isp sucks with playing games online. Especially on console.. And can I leave the panel outside in the rain or do I constantly have to take it in and out daily.
You should. I tested it with MK11, Fortnite and PUBG.
