      @1,618 φ The reason why you would never do that it's cause you dont live in America and you have no idea whatsoever how the American system works.
      In the USA you can either purchase the insurance you want or get it by having a job.
      This is the reason why Obama said "your jobs are not coming back".
      His objective was to have as many people as possible to be unemployed and on welfare (which reached the highest record ever under him, together with the debt) and then have as many as possible sign on Obamacare. This meant that premiums skyrocketed. Cause more then 20 million people started getting insurance on the back of the taxpayer system.
      Also Obama made having either private or Obamacare mandatory, or else you would pay the so called Obamacare tax, of some thousand dollars a year.
      160 million americans would beg to differ from your idea that that is a dumpster fire, cause if it wasnt, half of the american population would not have private insurance, as they have.
      Only people who dont want to get a job didnt have health insurance.

    Helo! Venezuelan here (feel free to ask any question). I'm glad you guys talked about us - even though our "President" is a joke and our state is deplorable at the moment - and I know there's obviously a shitload of stuff you missed, but the most important and in my opinion the worse thing of this Regime (this isnt a socialist government - this isn't a government, it's a Dictatorship) is the number of people dying everyday from malnutrition and lack of eating. And when I say that, I mean that there are thousands dying, specially the younger generations. *Kids die in hospitals and because of the government crackdown, Doctors aren't allowed to put the cause of death as starvationg (usually putting something like heart attack, or whatever it is that finally did kill them, but the obvious reason for those is starvation)*
    I hope one day things get better here, but to be honest I'm one of those venezuelans who're trying to escape (looking to leave the country in the course of this year if all goes well). Which hurts and sucks because I love my country, but it´s not even the shadow of what it used to be - and I would know, because I grew up as Chavez rose to power and I saw how things changed for worse every year in my life.

    • @Atriiid
      @Atriiid 6 лет назад +7

      I have few questions I'd like to hear Venezuelan answer since Internet sources say one thing and the opposite...
      - It is said where I live that Chavez had a massive support from Venezuelan people during his rise to power and I always thought it was true considering who was ruling before Chavez, but is it?
      - Some say that life under Chavez was also better than before, is it true? Why things changed this much with Maduro? What made the situation so critic except oil price?
      - Some also say the country's economic failure can be due to USA's aggressive policy trying to weaken geopolitical enemies, sacrificing the entire country. Is it true, at least a little, or total bullshit spread to defend Maduro's?
      - But the main question is: is there a political force in Venezuela ready to handle the power and to federate ALL the Venezuelan? From here we often picture Maduro as a dictator but we also see Venezuelan "resistance" as some barbaric groups not realy united and many servicing non-venezuelan interests (too bad oil countries attract predators) ?
      Anyway, no matter the answer I know Venezuelan can do it and save their country! Your people need hope and you'll only obtain it by trusting each others and federate yourself for a brighter future. One day this horrible mess will be over so you can make Venezuela grow once again!

    • @isabelminerva8632
      @isabelminerva8632 6 лет назад +56

      @Atrid Well, there are many varying opinions both on the internet and off. Also, I want to just clarify that you're getting an answer from a 23yo so I was just a toddler when he came to power, but I did grow up noticing the changes in the country. And I'll try to be as unbiased as possible, but it's hard for me on this particular subject.
      1. He certainly had a huge following when rising. Politically speaking, his opposing candidate when running for elections made a huge mistake, and that led him to winning the elections with a pretty big number (even my mom voted for him that one time, which she regrets to this day). Not to mention that he made sure to make a lot of "socialist" moves (giving a lot of free stuff to those in lower social classes).
      2. Life during Chavez' time wasn't better - it was basically the same as it was before... and then slowly grew to be worse. It was only "better" than Perez Jimenez' time (he was a borderline dictator President during the 4th republic, he did the usual Political police thing, killing some political opposition and whatnot, but nowhere near as bad as Chavez*).
      As I grew up, what I can tell you changed the most was this: security became worse, as in, there was more delinquency and said delinquency got more and more violent as time passed by; the economic ability people had slowly diminished, and the same goes for quality of life; corruption started to be felt everywhere (you knew a guy who could get you X document done instead of going thru the normal process, for a price; i actually got my license without ever going through any paperwork). I'm sure I'm missing more stuff, but those are the most blatant imo.
      I think this needs to be prefaced, but our economy has always relied on Oil (big, bad mistake). The thing is, while other presidents sought to put some economic policies, and make jobs or infrastructure or whatever (while obviously stealing some money for themselves), Chavez did not. In fact, he made a big effort to destroy most producers and industries while getting lower classes to rally behind him with classism (hate speech basically? i guess?). He pushed the blame of their social status on those that created jobs and brough food to the supermakets. That in turn partially affects how we're so scarcely supplied for food and most things have to be imported. Well, that and the whole price laws (certain products are forced to be sold at X amount of mney, and that basically means that by selling, companies would be losing money... you can see the problem with that).
      So when Chavez died, Maduro came to power, the oil price plummeted, and there was no backup (no economic policies, no stash of money for emergency situations). As if it wasn't enough, we also had Maduro putting the whole country in debt to Russians and Chinese for exhorbitant ammounts in exchange for weapons, arms, etc. This because of the protests in 2014 and then later in 2017. And while there's no official proof of this, it's general knowledge that Maduro and its regime depleted the country's Gold Reserves. So really, they milked this country dry and atm we're pretty much a bankrupt country...
      * _Actually, when Chavez was voted in, people wanted a new face that wasn't related to the 4th Republic or the two main political parties (Copei and AD), mostly because of the corruption. Oh booy did they get that wrong by voting for Chavez_ .
      3. I'm adding another disclaimer here because a) I was part of the 2017 protests, and it will play a part in the answer and b) it is a political stance that not all people agree with (both from opposition side, and pro-Maduro side).
      The opposition technically rallied behind the MUD (Democratic Union Table, if translated word by word). Because we all know that divided we would be less powerful, and our opposition figures were kinda divided up to 2016, they figured it was a good move. If it had been a move without hidden political agendas, it would've been.
      Before 2016, our opposition leaders (exempting Leopoldo Lopez) were shitty af. In retrospect, that is, because they only had their best interest in mind and not the country's. Leopoldo is the exception, but that is too long of a story to get into. So when in 2017 they banded together we thought it meant a change. Mind you, the protests started naturally from the rest of the society, when the MUD saw that we were gathering a relatively big number of people, they started calling for protests as well. People like to forget that they weren't the ones who came up with the idea, they just jumped into it when it was convenient for them.
      Now, fast forward a few months, around 150 kids-to-young-adults deaths, and some international viewership. The MUD suddenly calls for us to stop march-style protests. The ANC (basically an illegal National Assembly that was to be made up by Maduro's regime) voting thing shows the amount and scale of cheating they applied to it, from International sources. All good and great. But slowly the MUD cools down the streets. And things eventually go back to normal. ANd then new elections come (regional, state, etc). And the MUD basically uses this whole time of protests as their promotion campaign to get us to vote for them. There's also the "dialogues" they make with the government in other countries. At this point, ther have been a few reputable journalist that have brought to light that quite a few of the MUD members are in cahoots with the Government.
      So now we don't have the MUD. ANd those "barbaric" resistance groups? Those were just kids, students, wanting a better country, and were led to their deaths basically to serve some BS MUD politicians' agenda. They were venezuelians, guys my age, not some US-pushed agenda (ridiculous).
      So we no longer have a political figure that can rally us up. Actually, that's mostly the reason I've given up on this changing anytime soon. I saw so many die (one of the most gruesome happened just down my street, actually), I gave my all during those protests and stretching myself thin mentally and emotionally, heck my mother almost got killed because of that! And we got brutally backstabbed by what we thought were people on our side? The depression and disappointment is incredibly big. Inmensely so.
      I have hopes that one day things will change, but there's a saying that each country gets what its' people deserve. And while half the blame lies on politicians, so does on the rest of the society that didn't move a finger and expected things to be magically saved by a few.
      Also I'm so sorry this went on for so long. And the fact that I tried to not go into detail as much makes it worse 😅

      Socialism is just social programs. Its where the government takes control of all industries that provide a public service, so that they can't be churned for profit like they are in a capitalist country. Communism is when they take control of ALL industries, including things like steel production and IPod sales, control for the sake of control.

In 1951 CIA backed gorillas stormed the palace and killed my great grandfather, while my great grandmother and her daughters (aunts) were upstairs. Anyways the president was overthrown but was back into power a few years later. My grandfather (American Navy) said that while living in the palace there were a couple German men who he believed were spies for either West Germany or the USSR but supposedly the president was a nazi supporter. • @severtone263
      @severtone263 6 лет назад +18

      @BadRed Finn, I think that is a debatable statement. When unemployment is at 90% and hyperinflation shatters records to 89.7 sextillion (10^23) percent, I beg to differ. Virtually every country around Zimbabwe in Southern Africa is doing better than Zimbabwe.

    • @severtone263

      I am 100% Zimbabwean, I do not dispute all the ills contributed by the UK from colonization as they surely contribute to the status quo, but we also have our own bad governance to blame for where we are. I believe that we are on a better path now since we hit rock bottom in 2008. Venezuela's path is EXACTLY what Zimbabwe used to do in years past.

    or (B) She snuck something into her frappe and was happilly soaring through the clouds and not even that reporter from InfoWars was going to drag her down

      It came out three years after a coup that had Chavez temporarily out of office that was rumored to be supported by the US and as I understand it the game rewarded creating as much chaos as possible.
      When you consider that, the fact that mercenaries are war criminals and America's long and bloody history of intervening in Latin American countries by literally all means imaginble, I can understand where he's coming from.
      I'm not saying it's great but hey, the CIA tried to get castro overthrown by infiltrating the Cuban rap scene. The are even involved in funding or making hollywood movies like Argo or Animal Farm. So this would definitely not be out of character.

Do they even know that USA is a major reason for the Korean war in the first place? Do they know that USA dropped more bombs on Vietnam than on Nazi germany? Even heard of Operation Northwoods/Condor? There are so much dirt in recent history about USA/CIA that never gets spoken about, but the lies about socialism/communism are spread as truths.
