Awesome I love being by , or on the ocean 🙂. I grew up in southeast Alaska fishing on my dad's salmon troller cleaning fish. I was 5 yrs old. At 13 I got my first job salmon fishing with someone other than my dad.
I am now living in the Bay Area anchored out on my 36' Choey Lee sailboat. I have been here almost 20 yrs. I miss home and being out in nature , and been wanting to go back home. One day I will when it is time.
I love your artwork and watching you do it. I love doing my Alaska native artwork. Carving, weaving cedar bark a n d other types of artwork like pottery on the wheel 🙂.

I have to say first I watch a great deal of van tours but I do not usually or really ever follow someone after their tour but you just seem straight up genuine and real and because this is what I am trying to plan within the next 5 years it is actually very helpful as well. I also have to say my favorite is Eliza because I too have a Pitbull and his name is King and is such a sweetheart and I would love it if he could join me when I start my "Van Life", but he is already 9 years old so sadly I don't think that will be the case so I will get a rescue (most likely another Pitbull) when I start that next stage in my life. So thank you for sharing your stories with us because I for one so enjoy them and actually get tips and other things from them and I wish you all safe travels!!

Painting that scenery must have felt amazing! Gouache can be such a tricky yet rewarding medium. If your paints are frustrating you because they are drying out too fast, add some Winsor and Newton Blending Medium for watercolors to keep your paints open a bit longer. You may find them easier to work with and, when dry, it makes your work permanent (not re-wetable) too. Have fun in Bali!

I love your poetic voice in the voice over.
For those who don't know, gouache is a watercolor media with opaque color. It's been around for at least twelve centuries. It can be mixed/used with regular watercolors. You can re-hydrate dried up paint and it is still usable. You normally mix water with it until it's the right consistency for your use. It's amazing how thin you can make it without affecting the opacity.

Lovely artwork, Maddie! Your diverse talents and eagerness to tackle new things always intrigues me. Now completing my fourth month of van life, I am fearful of going to unfamiliar places! Next week, I'm planning to take Amtrak North to Los Angeles. I'll likely stay in a hostel and use public transportation and Uber. The purpose of my urban adventure is to explore the sites: The Getty Center, finding the apartment we lived in when I was a little boy, an ancestor's grave in Santa Monica, the La Brea Tar Pits, the Nature & Science museum, maybe Universal Studios. When I've finished with LA, I'll return to my cousin's place near Vista, CA. Then I intend to drive north in my van, up CA-395 to Lone Pine & Bishop (Alabama Hills), Giant Sequoia / Kings Canyon NP, Death Valley NP, and Joshua Tree NP. Solo van life is thrilling, but also daunting!
Today, I had a rear mounted spare tire rack installed on my van. So my massive spare tire is now outside the van where it belongs. My composting toilet arrived, too! Tomorrow I have the challenge of making room in the vehicle for all my stuff. That probably means getting rid of somethings as well. Wish me luck (please)!

For a great many years I've been painting in his style. It's awesome that his paintings have always been popular.
