Oh my gosh, your starting point on the map is right where I am now, or close. Off the 79 north of Florence. The area closer to the 60 is quieter than Cottonwood Canyon, further south and heavy with OHVs on the weekends. You inspired me to cook in my camper versus just making sandwiches. Your videos kind of rescued me from a dark time too. Thank you.
Hi Maddie, your gear got wet because of the tarp. When the edges stick out like that to collect water and run them right under your tent.
Next time, before it starts raining folded so it's on your tent so that there's no blue sticking out. That'll keep it from puddling and running under your tent.

When you put the tarp under the tent fold the edges under the tent. If not the rain pools on the tarp the goes under and in inside. I learned the hard way camping in a typhoon two different times.

Little tip for the rain, don't leave your tarp sticking out past your tent. Yeah i get it, it's nice to not step on the ground. But the water collects and then pools under your tent...making everything wet.
Oh my goodness, Eliza in the creek, and waiting for food AND in your sleeping bag - cuteness overload! Dogs are just magical; I’d be lost without mine. Also, the water colours you and Sarah did were so lovely! It’s been great seeing you two for adventuring together and it looks like it was enriching for you both.

lol been there many times - gone camping only to wake up to pouring, ceaseless rain. You had exactly the right approach: Sometimes you just have to embrace your inner salamander and be wet. :)

Bloops are the best.
Like a couple of followers have said, to keep from getting so wet in your tent, make sure your tent’s footprint (tarp) doesn’t stick out on the sides of the tent. Also, if you ever buy another tent, buy one with a rain fly that comes down almost to the ground and stack it out the fly, so the rain will roll off it and away from your tent.

Such good friends and memories that satisfy our inner happiness. Add in a hike and camp to have a perfect adventure. I really enjoyed this video. It brought back sweet past memories with friends and family. I love how your watercolored journal stores your memories for a look back of adventures past. Liza did very well with her backpack. I let my dog sleep with me in my sleeping bag too. So snug and warm. Once I got a flea in my ear during the night while we camped in Yosemite. FYI, if an insect gets in your ear just hold a flashlight to the opening of the ear canal and the critter will exit to the light. You just never know when this bit of trivia will be useful Happy trails and stories Maddie.

It's nice to have a buddy.
It looks lovely, with one caveat: After you cook your meal, you should move a bit farther away from the stream. The sound of the rushing water makes it harder to hear if someone is sneaking up to your camp, especially if it's raining!

Haunted Canyon did you say?
Call me crazy but I'm fascinated with haunted places. I have a strange ability that I can tell when there's an entity hanging around by a sort of sensation on my forehead which sometimes buzzes. It's not unpleasant nor do I get scared or freaked out by it though I don't go into haunted places on my own. I am more fascinated with them than anything else because of perhaps the possibility of meeting someone from the past and I'm a big history buff. So I'd have loved to be with you and Sarah to see if I'd sense anything. Truth is Eliza might have because animals are often sensitive to that. And if she didn't there was probably no one from the past hanging around.
I could feel the serenity of that brook when you came to it. Having been in the desert before there's nothing quite like a water source in the middle of it.
You were quite bold to sleep out there in the desert like that. I'd have been concerned about running into coyotes, bears, mountain lions, scorpions, rattlesnakes or javellinas though I'd love to see such creatures for sure, after all I always was and always will be a daughter of nature.

I absolutely love the tight little purple shorts you were wearing. Very sexy. I want to get myself a pair of shorts just like them and another, guy's version, for my boyfriend (where I live it's totally normal for guys to wear short tight shorts and they look great in them. Another advantage of having emigrated from the USA.)
