I wish I watched this before I used mine. I broke half of my butterfly on the first use.
    Thanks for the video!

WTF? What is a "butterfly" on a splitter?

I bought a $12 momentary foot switch from Harbor Freight. I drilled a hole in the metal guards (or tabs if you want to call them that) on either side of the power button so I could put a cotter key thru the holes to hold the power button in the down position and plugged the log splitter power cord into the foot medal. So now I don't have to hold the green button down because the cotter key is holding it down......when you let off the foot pedal the ram returns to the back position....now it is a 1 hand and 1 foot operation so it frees up a hand to hold the log so they don't roll off it anymore. Makes it a lot simpler for 1 person to operate.....

I have the same model but it came with a foot pedal to operate the ram. I tossed that away after 2 minutes of tripping over the connector. But a big difference with my machine is that I push the green switch button once and the motor continues to run. I don't have to hold it. I can see that by having to hold your finger on the switch you lose a lot of control over the log you're splitting.

    Nice compact little unit.
Seems like a lot of time wasted letting the press go back and forth the full 30”+ every time when the logs are all around 18”. Can it be set to stop shorter?

Why do you need to tighten the butterfly back up?

I loaned mine out and now it won't move...checked the fluid and it's dry!!! seems like the piston is stuck. I filled it up with fluid to the marks on the dipstick and still can't get it to move...any suggestions???.

Do you let the logs dry out for a period of time before splitting? Does that help with seasoning? Thanks!

For the oil dip stick what Allen key size is it? I want to avoid using pliers. Any idea?

What kind of oil does this yardworks use?

@0:35, it seems you can use an Allen Key instead of a paire of plyers?
    No??
You really need to keep your hand on the Power button at all time? A bit anoying???
I am about to buy this model, It's says 20" logs Max, is it with the double wedges?
    Thanks for the video.

@@Hammerdak Im a big fan of Princess Auto and that is why I was in limbo when lurking at Yardworks. Where I am (ottawa) Princess Auto in Gloucester is a gem. The after sale service is top. They really stand by "No sale is final until you're satisfied" Returning something with a gas tank attach does not go so well at CT. Ya I know , the Yardworks is electric, but returning it just because Im not happy with it would be a hassle.

Your over working the ram should be a stop screw to stop the ram returning all the way home
