Hello, Alexis Rose. The easiest way to blur background with a point-and-shoot camera like this is to increase the distance between your subject and the background. You can do this by physically getting closer to your subject. If there are any elements that are close to your subject they will most likely be in "focus." You can also stand back and use the zoom to help give you the effect but you still want to be relatively close or as you can and make sure that your subject is Isolated from the background.

Hello, Aaron Daay. Unfortunately the Canon Powershot SX540 does not have a flip out screen. We would recommend looking into the Canon Powershot SX740. It features a flip-up screen for vlogging. Thanks for watching!

You are welcome! I would recommend changing the video mode from auto to manual your camera and selecting the lowest number for your aperture value for the zoom position. This could be F/3.3 at the widest angle or 6.9 at the telephoto end. You can also try to keep your subject to camera distance as close as possible while keeping the background farther away. Thanks for watching!
I mean. What is the model are you using for the example with the cars? Cuz i was looking for a canon sx540hs that you can move the display but i cant find it.
Hello Tim. The tips found in this video would also apply to the Powershot Sx20. You can have the lens physically closer to the subject and use the widest aperture available, or you could use the magnification from the lens to compress the scene to help magnify the out-focus-area.
1 ) How to achieve blur background with Canon EOS 1300D + 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens ? 2 ) Is there will be any blurred background quality difference between Canon EOS 200D + 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens & Canon EOS 1300D + 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens ? Thanks.
Hi Faiaz, for best results of blurred background you will need a prime lens like the 50mm, but you can try achieving it also with that lens by raising the aperture.
Hello Shanya Baker. All the same principles that we talk about that make it work on the camera used in the video could apply to Canon's Powershot SX420. Thanks for Watching!
Hello Rexell Andrei. The Powershot SX430 does not accept threaded filters. You could try looking for something like Cokin's Magne-fix filter adapter ring. They're available in different sizes and allow you to attach camera filters to threadless lenses. With that being said you have to be careful when using anything that attaches to the front making sure that it doesn't hinder the lens form moving in and out. Thanks for watching.
Hello, Remi VanFarowe. When you want to change the position of the focus point, first set the camera's AF mode to FlexiZone. Then press the AF-Frame selector button and use the dial to move the point. For more precise movements you can also use the cross keys (Up, down, left, right buttons). Thanks for watching!
Hey Pk Rimon. It is possible. I would try the following: - Set the camera to aperture priority or Manual and use the largest aperture setting possible (Smaller f/number i.e. 2.8) - Set the camera to macro mode and get close to the subject. - For portraits, try zooming the lens all the way in and get as close as you can to your subject - Try to move your subject farther away from the background while keeping the camera to subject distance short. Let me know how that works. Regards.
Hello, wi has can. Unfortunately, it will not work with the SX400IS. If you are looking to attach filters, you may want to look into ones that are magnetic.
Hello CHHUN SOMBATTRA. Unfortunately, we don't have an answer of why but most hybrid stills cameras, whether it be a point-and-shoot, Mirrorless, or DSLR, can not pause while recording video. If you made a mistake you can easily delete the clip and keep only the files needed for your video. In addition, it's very easy to drop each clip into the timeline for editing. Thanks for watching!
Hello, Hemel Ahmed. It's possible. First, you should set your camera to manual and you want to make sure that you choose the widest aperture possible at the given lens position. Also, try to move your subject farther from the background and zoom in to give you that lens compression effect. Thanks for watching!
Hello, S Latthe. First, set the mode dial to Program (P). When you want to change the position of the focus point, first set the camera's AF mode to FlexiZone. Then press the AF-Frame selector button and use the dial to move the point. For more precise movements you can also use the cross keys (Up, down, left, right buttons). Thanks for watching!

Hey you are cute...
What about an canon sx20 Is?
I know it’s OLD but it just sits there, thinking about using more.
Hello Tim. The tips found in this video would also apply to the Powershot Sx20. You can have the lens physically closer to the subject and use the widest aperture available, or you could use the magnification from the lens to compress the scene to help magnify the out-focus-area.
1 ) How to achieve blur background with
Canon EOS 1300D + 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens ?
2 ) Is there will be any blurred background quality difference
between
Canon EOS 200D + 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens &
Canon EOS 1300D + 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens ?
Thanks.
Hi Faiaz, for best results of blurred background you will need a prime lens like the 50mm, but you can try achieving it also with that lens by raising the aperture.
I have no idea what you’re talking about😵
Thank you for this video! Do you sell new and refurbished cameras?
Hi Samantha, we only sell new cameras.
is it working in canon powershot g12? how? thanks
Hi, it should work the same way in all PowerShot cameras.
Can you do this with a canon powershot sx420?
Hello Shanya Baker. All the same principles that we talk about that make it work on the camera used in the video could apply to Canon's Powershot SX420. Thanks for Watching!
Hope we can do the same with sony hx 400
which is the best canon camera under 15000 BDT
Hi, you can find some point and shoot cameras for that amount.
I'm confused. Doesn't zooming in make the f-stop number higher? Why does that make the background more blurry?
Yes it does, and less light helps to achieve the blur effect.
This video has some nice drawings to explain it. Just moving closer decreases DOF too. ruclips.net/video/FJXPgoTBnMM/видео.html
Can you blur while filming
Hi, you can experiment, the same as with photos as shown in this video.

Nice. I've this camera
Enjoy it!
Thank you
I'm using canon sx540 hs and the results is really bad on low light, can you please tell me good settings to get bokeh on low light?
Hi, unfortunately, it is very difficult to do it in low light conditions as this camera was not made for that.
Sir can i put lense filter on my sx430?
Hello Rexell Andrei. The Powershot SX430 does not accept threaded filters. You could try looking for something like Cokin's Magne-fix filter adapter ring. They're available in different sizes and allow you to attach camera filters to threadless lenses. With that being said you have to be careful when using anything that attaches to the front making sure that it doesn't hinder the lens form moving in and out. Thanks for watching.
I don't understand how to blur plz make a new video on cannon power shot sx 60 hs plz
Just lower the aperture of the lens and the background will be blurred.
Digital Goja how you do that?
How do you make the focus point change?
Hello, Remi VanFarowe. When you want to change the position of the focus point, first set the camera's AF mode to FlexiZone. Then press the AF-Frame selector button and use the dial to move the point. For more precise movements you can also use the cross keys (Up, down, left, right buttons). Thanks for watching!
You're welcome, Remi VanFarowe. We are glad to help!

Can you blur the background on a Canon Powershot SX170 IS ?
Hey Pk Rimon. It is possible. I would try the following:
- Set the camera to aperture priority or Manual and use the largest aperture setting possible (Smaller f/number i.e. 2.8)
- Set the camera to macro mode and get close to the subject.
- For portraits, try zooming the lens all the way in and get as close as you can to your subject
- Try to move your subject farther away from the background while keeping the camera to subject distance short.
Let me know how that works. Regards.
How to use manual focus properly??
Always try to have the center in full focus when using it.
Digital Goja can you please make video on that
Hi, we will try to make one.
Can this work on canon SX400 IS?
Hello, wi has can. Unfortunately, it will not work with the SX400IS. If you are looking to attach filters, you may want to look into ones that are magnetic.
Why PowerShot SH70 Can not Pause record Video?
Hello CHHUN SOMBATTRA. Unfortunately, we don't have an answer of why but most hybrid stills cameras, whether it be a point-and-shoot, Mirrorless, or DSLR, can not pause while recording video. If you made a mistake you can easily delete the clip and keep only the files needed for your video. In addition, it's very easy to drop each clip into the timeline for editing. Thanks for watching!
Do i can? vedio blur in Canon SX570
Hello, Hemel Ahmed. It's possible. First, you should set your camera to manual and you want to make sure that you choose the widest aperture possible at the given lens position. Also, try to move your subject farther from the background and zoom in to give you that lens compression effect. Thanks for watching!
I have the same camera but how can he do that moving frame so he can focus on his subject? Please help me😢

Need more tutorial for canon sx60hs
Thanks for your feedback S Latthe. We will take that into consideration for a future video. What are you most interested in learning about?
If we zoom why aperture becomes less .
When you zoom the lens opening gets smaller as the mechanism moves and less light can reach the sensor.
