ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
There's no doubt about the simple use and increasing capabilities of smartphone cameras, but there's still some attraction to a dedicated camera with touch dials and buttons. The physical limitations of smartphones also result from their lenses. That is the use of point-and-shoot technology. A point-and-shoot camera, which can fit in your coat pocket, can give you a little extra touch to improve your everyday or trip images, whether it has a sharp main lens or a flexible zoom lens. The top point-and-shoot digital cameras are recommended in this video based on our in-depth examination and testing of over 20 cameras in our lab. if your top priority is portability.

Canon G7X Mark II user here, and I highly recommend this beast as well. This has been my daily camera for almost a year already and no regrets having it in 2024.❤❤❤ Tiktok made me buy it also since I see a lot of good reviews for this product.
tempted by that camera
Me too! though I have Sony and Canon FF this time G7X Mii am verymuch satisfied. The image quality is outstanding.
As a photography fan and hobbist, I can't help but smile when I hear the Sony rx100 being described as pricey or a tad expensive. It's hugely, massively, outrageously expensive. YES it's good but when you consider the price, is it justified? I think not
It's more expensive than most of their mirrorless stuff lol
Price, quality, size. Pick any 2.
@@user-sh5id8rw5p g7x got pretty decent quality though
@@user-sh5id8rw5p I'm exceedingly happy with my Lumix fs200 as my travel companion - longer lens range - almost double. And fantastic picture quality. It remains my choice for this category.
I wouldn’t say the rx100 is a point and shoot. It can be but then any digital camera can be. I’d class the rx range as a professional compact. And yes I have the mark 6
Olympus tg6 my point and shoot. Great camera in many ways. 👌
RX100 VII is a camera that you have to use to appreciate. Its a great and very portable camera.
I’m so surprised to see my beloved RX100 VII on this list for 2024! It was behaving a little strange lately, the on/off button sometimes malfunctioning. But it was only a matter of spraying it with a little isopropyl alcohol and some air blowing, and it’s back again like a true warrior.
So you mean it happens because dust??
@@decade95 IDK Perhaps it was a mix of dust, my natural skin oil and mishandling.
I know that people have many gripes about this one, but I really like my Canon G7X iii since the update for the autofocus. I think it's an excellent choice right behind the RX100. Heck the G7X ii is an awesome choice too that I know has a large following.
When did they do an update for the auto focus?
Canon G5XmkII is always on route with me - excellent
Nice comparison...i hope they make the next iteration of the sony RX100 Mviii....
There's a Sony RX100 mark 1,008?
Ultimately, think about your target audience and if they can tell the difference between the output of various cameras. The perfect camera is the one that provides the results you prefer, at the lowest possible cost. And remember, regardless of price, all cameras are capable of capturing a poorly composed image.
Got a used (almost like new) TZ91 (ZS80) last month for £160. I just wanted a small/cheap camera that could sit in my pocket when I don't want to carry something bigger, that would be better than my phone. I always shoot raw and process in Lightroom so the smaller sensor size isn't an issue for me. I could have spent more for something better but that's always the case and that didn't fit my requirement.
I've got a the zs70, it's beautiful, but boy is it a problem camera. The battery door, is I think design issue, I've got a few batteries and they've never sat well, so when it's on, it's off and vice versa. I wished I'd sent it back, but it was peanuts.
Is this the same EX as the US version? Or would there be any difference between Canada and US?
You should have had the Panasonic-Lumix ZS200 as your choice, so much better than the ZS80 or even the LX10 both have the 1 inch sensor and much more a bargain than the Sony
Agree. It's my camera of choice
Agreed! These little beasts stick all the boxes and with DXO RAW post processing they are phenomenal.
I like my Panasonic dmc zs 100
I'm in doubt between Ricoh GR III and Canon G7X Mark lll for daily and travel photography. Can someone help me? And Where to buy it in Orlando.
Igual yo!!
Fujifilm.
@@IvanRNhey I’m just wanting to get into photography and also wanted something similar to the griii. Which Fuji film camera would you recommend similar to that ? Just mainly photos and portable
@@elmaromero8585Fuji xf10
Zed V 1 with that accent!
fuji x-e4 + 27 f2.8 for 750$ best choice
Ricoh GR3 my choice
@@KNIGHTRACEDOTCOM great camera but I find the lens limiting for travel and general photography
@@michaelflinn7784 I found my X100S terrible in like Hungary, not wide enough and I think the GR3 may be better for city
is image quality between compact camera and mirrorless camera have any different? *sorry bad english
Yes usually compact cameras aren’t as good but they are more handy and you can carry them ones they usually are way cheaper. But of course it depends on which camera and lens
Ricoh is the only one here that can match mirrorless cameras’IQ, thanks to its big APSC sensor
I still use my RX100 Ver 1, great little camera.
Yup. Gen (1). Bought it used and still works great. My go to “low light” 28-100mm
Also bought the Sony HX99 for travel long zoom 24-720mm. Carry both in back pack. 💁🏻♀️
I disagree with @michaelflinn7784. I have a Nikon DSLR and two Sony RX-100s: a I and a VI. They ARE expensive, but they're excellent cameras, with superb image quality, and they literally fit in my pants (or shirt) pocket. The I version is my normal walking-around camera, with the sharpest lens, but that lens only zooms to 100mm. The lens on the VI zooms to 200mm, but is not quite as sharp. I still like my Nikon, but only use it for specialized situations.
anyone know if these or the latest iPhone 15 camera is better? for capturing watch photography
I own the latest iPhone 15 Pro and still purchased the G5X Mark II…the phone is more than capable for most casual photography, especially if you mostly shoot wide shots (its main and ultra wide cameras are very good for a phone) but it quickly falls apart if you want to zoom, the 3x sensor is tiny and only produces okay looking shots in ideal lighting conditions, the camera blows it out of the water in this department and it’s not even close as it is using the same 1 inch type sensor to shoot the zoom shots and using optical zoom to do the magnification.
TLDR: if you really take photography seriously then a dedicated premium point and shoot still makes a lot of sense to own.
@@ashjcoronado thanks mate! really helpful!
One thing never mentioned in these comparisons is the flash power. I have a Nikon A900 and Sony RX100IV and consider them pretty poor as travel cameras, as the sun is behind my wife and friends a lot of the time, or for when shooting inside buildings or restaurants My old Nikon P7000 and my ancient Canon A710s still do a better job with their more powerful flashes
Do any of these five cameras have decent flashes please?
Regards.
why didn't you include Sony zv mark 2?
G5 X Mark II
The Fuji x110VI didn’t make it to your list?
TikTok teens ruined it.
Camera great but they now go for 2k
For the new X100VI would you get the silver or black?
I like the black because it is a little less obvious when you are carrying it around.
If video is not your thing . Sony Rx100 ( original) is still one of the best out there for photos. Love it so much I later bought Sony rx100 va and Sony zv-1 ( for video)
Yes, except they are going the way of the dinosaurs it would appear. Point and shoot cameras in general. Try to find one, just the camera, not a package deal. Not easy.
Is the sony rx 100vII has ext mic input?
Yes it has a mic input.
There is no winner...it's all subjective
I like the Sony, but I'll stick with my RX100 IV
RX100 IV is Sony!!!! Duh!!
@@madcat1007 I know, it's written on the camera, but I can like other Sony products surely?
What??? No mention of the Canon G1X Mark III. It’s no bigger than my G5X, yet it carries a 24.2 Megapixel full sized CMOS (APS-C) sensor. So, you can skip the one-inch sensor. I’ve got several cameras that sit on the shell waiting to get some use since I got this beast.
How does any iteration of the Fuji x100 not even make it on the list
Because they don’t exist!
The Ricoh is a point & shoot ? Huuuuh !
Answer: They are all winners. Just pick one! 😊
buy used... save money!
Freakin vloggers love to video themselves, make believe its work. Does it really matter what cheep camera they use?
I have owned them all.....not one them is worth having. Very low image quality...just learn and use your phone.
