I was determined not to send him to lothric castle when I learnt he doesn't make it out alive.... But I couldn't ignore this words. You tell me what was the right choice. I let him go do what he wanted regardless of what comes next because it was his choice.
I skip most dialog in this game and don't really take in the story as much as others, but his voice always struck me as incredibly genuine and appropriate and well crafted.
Old comment however I believe he wanted to forget the undead settlement, he lost all important to him and devoted himself to you, now the only reason he doesn’t go hollow. Greirat the great dies a thief however he never goes hollow.
You know, finding his corpse in Lothric Castle and seeing all the messages of respect and sadness from the people who had passed by was quite the emotional stab...
Reminds me of when I passed by his corpse that was littered with messages but didn't even notice him. Only after I completed the game then I realised it was Greirat, broke my heart
Artorias was sweet. He always only bro hugged one armed though so i could never check out his package by kinda twisting my body so my knee touched it so i never got real comfortable with him around.
He has a miserable life, yet he has a few specks of beauty that keep him going. He is really a servant at heart, living for the fortune of those he sees as worthy, unlike himself.
"even patches wouldnt risk lothric castle for a friend" he does tho if you tell him,he dissapears and comes back with new items, presumably plundered from the castle but is unable to save greirat
Loli Raviolli I think it’s very likely that patches did find greirat yet didn’t get there in time as patches doesn’t seem that capable of a thief so I think that he actually took those wares offa Greirats corpse and decided to bring back the wares he found and sold them to you to finish his mission as show of respect towards him
I love how each character sits in a way that reflects their personality. Greirat crouched humbly like a slave. Patches smugly squats in satisfaction. Orbeck lounges in arrogance. Cornxy sits contently wait for his student. Yuria stands, waiting for you to fulfill your duty. Irina lays in fear wishing for comfort. Karla lays Comfortable as if she were still imprisoned. Lastly, Yoel is hunched holding his staff, barley standing and clinging on to life.
I was crushed when i found him murdered in the Irithyll sewers. He devoted himself to me and i was inadequate to protect him. His death was my failure.
Greirat never dies in all my playthroughs lol. Even until this day, everytime he complains that he's bored I say to myself "at least you're safe here and that's enough. Let me do the dying". He should be renamed Greirat the friend.
i accidentally gave the loretta bones to pickle pee crow and lost it . sadly I lost the greirat's quest line but at least he wont die of existential crysis now.

Greirat was my favorite npc in ds3, I was so sad when I sent him to die. He was the only one that wished you safe travel and it really hit home to me in such a dark hostile world that I could've only wished him the same in the end.
One of my favorite things about ds3 npc's is that they grow nicer and nicer over time, for example: Orbeck goes from ''Do come again'' to ''promise to stay safe''
@@hoptropikcz4973 Bruh I gave him 3 scrolls immediately when I got him and he still sends me off with “You haven’t forgotten our deal now have we?” Like come on man I gave you so much knowledge already. I’ve rested at the bonfire and he still thinks I haven’t given him any scrolls

The Souls universe is one in which the most highborn and honorable of nobility can be reduced to snarling, sub human beasts consumed by their own fear and obsessions. Yet, its also a world where a lowly deserter, an undead notorious for thievery and subterfuge, can be given a greater purpose and even mourned after his passing. Its not exactly a "rags to riches" story, but Greirat did teach us that in a world of criminals and monsters, sometimes a petty thief is the most valorous one in the room.
There is a song my mother would sing to me when I was child which I love and pretty much shaped my childhood. I'll translate it here: "There was once a nice wolf who all the lambs bullied. There was also an evil prince, a beautiful witch and an honourable pirate. All this things there were, when I played the world in reverse." As I've grown, in a way, that world in reverse rings truer than what a fairy tale tells.
Ian Davis How could you say something so cold??? You're willing to let a true bro die for some stuff? I went through most of the game with meh gear and you can too damn it! >:'(
Greirat: "Do stay safe, you hear? Or my efforts will have been for naught" *doesn't even try to mention himself once* Me: *feeling manly tears* "okay" ;~; We don't deserve someone as selfless like Greirat.
I found him in the sewers where those skeleton spider creatures are at. Idk what i did to secure his death but he died in a sewer and his corpse is still there. I won't go there to farm souls anymore because i don't like seeing his corpse everytime i go soul farming
If you helped seigward get out of the well at the cathedral of the deep, he is the one to save greirat, not patches. I didnt talk to patches at all about greirat and the “onion knight” still saved him, so it’s either one of them.
Lore theory theory that someone might have already said: What if Greirat didn't just want to snoop around to get out of the Shrine? Look at it this way; Greairat, directly or indirectly, was caught and imprisoned by the Lothric nobles, rendering him unable to save Loretta's life. When you save Greairat, he recognizes you as an Unkindled, bound to eventually fight the lords of Cinder. What if Greirat went thieving in order to gather supplies for you, knowing full well that you would use them against the Twin Princes? Is his entire questline just a bizarre revenge quest based around avenging Loretta?
I never told Patches where Greirat went and instead let Seigward rescue him, since doing Seigward's story line removes the armor from Patches' possession entirely. Less lore in that path though, I suppose, since Siegward would just be doing what Onionbros do best.
I usually kick Patches off the bridge in the Cathedral of the Deep. Killing two birds (and a hyena) with one stone: I don't have to pay for Siegward's Armour and the shortcut to Rosaria is open.
Nah you get the horsehoof ring, patches ashes, and the onion armor when you kill him. Literally the only thing you miss out is 2 emotes and some dialog by letting him live
"A bored rat is better than a dead rat," I always mumble when he complains about my refusal to send him to raid Lothric Castle. I know these cycles well. I've been through them many times now Mr Rat.
Greirat is probably my favorite character in Ds3, he is honest about being a "petty thief" but it is kinda sad how he apparently wishes to get killed on purpose, all the time aching to go looting and putting himself in danger. He is a thief and a hero, all in one character. Oh and that accent he has is just the best. ;D
What I really dig about the questline too is that the key to his cell in the High Wall already warns about Lothric Castle and how thieves who dare go there never return. The game already warns you about the outcome before you even first talk to Greirat. Also Patches does still leave for the Castle. After telling him about Greirat, he's gone from Firelink until one boss is slain, and returns with a Hidden Blessing. Which kinda makes me think that Patches did head to see if he can rescue Greirat, but failed to find him, yet he did return alive from the Castle, cementing Patches still as the #1 rogue in the series!
The only place to find hidden blessing in whole game is untended graves so I always thought patches made his way there somehow while looking for greirat.
@@Wuuff God... it fits Patches too much that he would manage to screw over Gundyr somehow while looking for Greyrat and that's why he couldn't go link the fire in time on his timeline...
I knew he would die if I fucked up so I waited until Siegward was in place to save him but then I fucked up and went into the dungeons before killing Pontiff. My lack of map knowledge got him killed :[
Greirat can be saved both by Seig or Patches, I've had playthroughs where I haven't told or even killed Patches, saving Seig from the well in the Cathedral, and he lived, as well as Seigward not being saved / alive and telling Patches, he still survived. I know the vid's quite old now, I'm binge-watching in the middle of the night, and that was just something that caught my attention, thought I'd share.
I somehow got lucky and didn't manage to fuck it up. I'm new to dark souls and with the little knowledge I have, I managed to accidentally get Sieg to save Greirat.
When i found his ashes in lothric i think its one of the only times i actually cried midgame as it hit me my actions of letting him go led to his death, this character is my favorite above all in DS3 and it hurts just as much everytime i playthrough the game and he asks to go on the third loot run
Yo lo mandé sin saber que iba a morir nisiquiera sé cómo no murió las otras 2 pero murió con honor el único sociable en un mundo tan oscuro que se joda la vieja del templo Que las llamas os guíe amigo
I always thought Greirat store Loretta's ring and later regretted it, knowing she would be killed without it. I don't think she was anything in particular to him, other than a mistake he made and wants to put right.
I think Loretta was still very close to her, but that he did make the mistake of stealing her ring, which is why he askes us to take it to her. He then regrets his mistake for doing so once he finds out she's dead. This is most likely why we find him curled up in a ball, mourning her death; not even able to recognize the champion who had set him free from his cell in Lothric because he's too caught up with griefing over Loretta's death and thinking it was all his fault.
If Greirat really was this robin hood character, then it seems to me that he stole the ring FOR her not from her. Knowing that she was old, the blue tearstone ring would strengthen her in her weakened state. When the Evangelicals came spreading the teachings of the Cathedral, those who were not converted to the light of the Profaned Flame were killed. I believe that's why Loretta died. I think Greirat was so sad because the ring was stuck in prison with him for so long when he knew someone needed it.
Back here binge watching while I play through the series again (Haven't actually gone through DS3 yet but 1&2 over a dozen times) but your comment struck me as particularly poignant...Courage from the powerful and steadfast is an easy feat, almost expected...courage from the meek and cowardly is a revelation...like the first spark of a great flame...
Miyazaki really knew what a gut punch it would be to find this admirable man’s ashes in the filthy sewers of Irithyll. But those moments of tender friendship in firelink shrine with Greirat made it all worth it.
Greirat dies in the sewer, Anri loses their friend and goes hollow and Siegward... well, if it wasn't abundantly clear that Miyazaki absolutely detests hapiness you haven't bumped into an onion knight yet. Through the entire game this man is an absolute beacon of chivalry and friendship. After every great victory together he offers you a toast, his mugs of Siegbräu reminding you that all is not lost in this crumbling world. Finally Siegward fulfills his duty, kills his old friend and pleads you have a *final* toast with him. You toast, you down the Siegbräu and the brave onion tells you, like so many times before, that he's going to have himself a little nap. Well, of course, it's the only thing to do after a proper toast. "You are a true friend. Best of luck with your duty." and as soon as you leave the room he kills himself. Damn it Miyazaki, why!?
Last weekend I found out about Dark souls (I heared about it before , but just superficially). I wanted to know more about the lore , and I found your chanel. In 2 days I watched almost all your content . Next weekend I will start playing this awesome series , and is your merits. Thank you and keep up the good work!
People seem to get really caught up in spoilers, dark souls is good gameplay wise and story wise. There are spoilers for gameplay, and spoilers for story, but they are different categories entirely, besides, if the story is spoiled you can still go back and play it for the novelty.
Thank you Vaati from the bottom of my heart as well. It is because of your videos why I started playing the games. I loved the lore and how the story is told.
solaire is the best for me he's the only NPC I ever summon because the boss is annoyingly hard "O&S" and killing him is the hardest thing I've ever done in dark souls series
When it came to greirat the thief , I've always thought that the reason he makes runs like this. Is that he wants to die to be with his love. But he would like to die with purpose.
A few missed details: 1. Greirat uses a bandit's knife, not a thrall axe. 2. The "peculiar onion knight" saves Greirat even if you don't tell patches where he has gone. 3. If you kill Greirat in firelink shrine, then patches will attack you near the giant tree.
Greirat is always saved by an 'onion knight'. Who it is depends on who has the onion armour. Seigward saves him if you gave him his armour in the well by killing patches or buying the armour off him after returning to firelink. If you do neither of these things and leave seigward in the well, then it is indeed patches that uses the armour to save him.
2. not really. For that to happen you need to have bought the armor from Patches and given it back to Siegward. If you don't do that you need to tell Patches where Greirat is for him to be saved.
Toya The Japanese learn English. If you have ever been to a foreign country, everybody there can speak English. Most anyway. Edit: Nowadays it is part of the curriculum.
He did not die a petty rat ... He died a friend, beloved and mourned. He died as the most formidable little thief I have ever met. I shall never forget his tale.
Favorite NPC in Dark Souls 3. I've not been more emotional about an NPC, his death moved me. For some reason he was hopeless and knew his destiny was death. The way he speaks is the best delivery in this game: awkward, hopeless, ironic, friendly and sincere all at the same time.
Greirat is one of my favorite souls characters, the way he greets me every time i visit, how he wishes me good luck. i believe it when he tells me these things, that hes truely concerned for my well being. It makes his death pretty hard to cope with and i always wish there was another way
Hey bro look at the bright side we gave Greirat what he truly wanted an honorable death and for that we can smile knowing he passed doing what he wanted
If you send him to Lothric castle and get his ashes and give them to the maiden in Firelink then she will have everything he had and at his prices as well as a few things that he stole from Lothric Castle before dying. It's worth it to send him there if you have a STR or Faith build in particular so that you can get unlimited lightning urns.
I've completed Onion Bro's questline, but I think there's a timing issue. He never survives his trip to Irithyll & I always have to go back there to get his ashes. I wouldn't send him to Lothric Castle, 'cause I know he won't survive that trip.
Here is something that may be interesting when it comes to Greirat. Most NPCs fight in a similar way but Greirat is a little different. Siegward, Hawkwood, Eygon and Yuria will all retreat and use an Estus when at low HP up to 4 times but on the fourth they will show that their estus flask is empty. Greirat on the other hand will not use an Estus no matter how low his HP gets. Whether this actually means anything or is just a quirk is just conjecture but could it be that Greirat is not undead?
Greirat was probably the best story in DaS3. I think Miyazaki at some point forgot that the real meat in Souls games are the people in it and their relateable goals and failures, not the convoluted main stories about time travel, alien communions or reincarnating dragons.
PlagueOfGripes was that sly towards bloodborne? It better not be, that game is a goddamn masterpiece. Better not be Or I will, I will umm. Disagree some more in comment section until you bring up a good argument and just give up arguing.
This is one of the most cogent points, and one frequently absent from discussion, about the series as a whole. I mean it was the characters in Dark Souls 1 that drew us into the world and the story not the other way around. Vaati's prepare to cry series on the first game is so much more involved and in depth despite meager production quality. That game had the best and most sympathic characters in the series. These BB fanboys are just ignant! Notice how there are hardly any PtC from DkS2?
Besides the lore itself and the amazing video you ended up creating, I'm actually amazed by the voice acting on this character in particular... it sounds heart broken and you can see how his voice gets cut by the feelings when you told him about Loretta... Damn everything's extremely well done here.
No no no. Obviously Gwynevere cheated on Seath, Flan, and Oceiros with a blackrat and had Greirat. However, once the settlement began to decline, she left for other lands.
Greirat is the best dark souls 3 character I’ve met... I have now found all the merchants... but the only one who comes even slightly close is that one sorcerer that I dumped some books on... I wanted to reset when he didn’t come back...
Dear VaatiVidya, As with many of the videos I have watched from all the way to Demon Souls to Dark Souls 3, your videos have provided with excellent content and narration from your part. As a game and you already know this, Dark Souls in particular does not explain the story directly like most games. The player, who is willing enough, goes to explore this massive world: Fighting undead along with hideous yet amazing creatures, meeting NPCs, playing as to the player's wishes cooperatively or hopefully in friendly sport ( I say sport kind of loosely but hopefully all in good fun haha), and not just play but also experiences and immerses within this world. There are multiple RUclips channels that do play Dark Souls, however among them, I would say that you are one of the most detailed oriented. You not only immerse but rather you give your own interpretation of the world around and provide information researched around the world of Dark Souls. Not only do you do these videos such as your "Prepare to Cry" videos, but you also find the smallest details that people tend to overlook within the environment which gives even more lore to this story. This narration/story telling is enchanting, in fact, I go out of my way to find your Dark Souls/Bloodborne videos in particular because I learn something new, even small fun facts. Of course, your videos that involve Edward Emberpants are delightful and it reminds me of the times I co-op with my buddy. Overall, along with many RUclipsrs who do play this game franchise including yourself, have inspired me to go to this fantasy land to not only play, but be the character I created and explore and fight these undead and learn so much about Dark Souls/Bloodborne. I ask that you continue your journey: Play more, learn more, make more of these videos if and when you can, and continue being you. To quote Solaire of Astora- " Now that I am Undead, I have come to this great land, the birthplace of Lord Gwyn, to seek my very own sun". Seek your Sun VaatiVidya. Hopefully when the next Dark Souls III DLC comes out, there would be plenty of content that can fill even more gaps to this complex yet intriguing world. Sincerly, A Fellow Undead seeking his own Sun
This is one of my favorite characters in DS3. He seems interesting yet odd, I guess most of the characters are. But I like that he's a polite thief, lol. Cool you did this, thanks!
Dude, I don't even play Dark Souls, 'coz I am such a scrub, but I've learned I all know about Dark Souls and Bloodborne from you, and boy has it been interesting and amazing to listen to what you have to say. From your theories, to your prepare to cry, to your playthroughs... Everything is an easy ten out of ten. Keep up your amazing work. :D
It's fantastic to see such great shots and views using that free-flying camera. I have to assume you've been using cheat engine for it, which is a big risk given the recent bans and what not. I wonder if Vaati uses a 2nd account, with a 2nd copy of the game to not risk the ban, perhaps?
GenerationHollow There's no way to detect its use offline. Unless you do something ridiculous so when you go back online the game notices you have 10 of a particular bosses soul or something impossible in that vein, there's literally no way it could be detected.
Dark Souls is a series that shows us the struggle of living, inevitability of death, and the choice of how one dies. You can be like Gwyn and try to preserve what you had and lose yourself to power forever, give up trying and be hollow inside and out forever, or try to do something of worth and die trying. There is no absolute victories, only small battles and smaller people winning them, but even so, the humans who win these small battles meet a nobler end than the kings and 'gods' who try to preserve their power, who often turn into monsters and suffer for all eternity. Something to consider.
Probably one of the most tragic characters of Dark Souls 3. A thief, trying to find honorable death for a good cause. His final and lethal 3rd pillage is not in wain though since when you give his ashes to maiden they will open 2 new items: explosive and shrapnel bolts for crossbows, the rarest bolts there are.
Doing a full Greirat cosplay run and this just hit me right in the feels.. Also curious no one mentions that he may be based on the Fritz Lieber character The Gray Mouser...
Greirat is easily my favorite NPC in DS3... I almost lost it when I found his dead body at the Archives. I was genuely heartbroken in a way that no other sidequest had me, not even Sigward's
Greirat, more a rogue than a thief. A thief knows his boundaries, but a rogue acts upon emotion. A damaged hero, be it by a fated brith in poverty, or a crippling incapacity to accept the sacrifices a hero must partake. Greirat and Lothric aren't quite so different from one another. Greirat, willing to sacrifice himself for a cause is given none, thus he must steal one from those who do. Lothric, born weak and sickly, was given a task he couldn't complete. Overwhelmed by the fate which had been forced upon him, he escapes. Waiting in the shadows for an answer to come. Hoping one would be foolish enough to steal his fate. Opposite sides of the same coin. One capable and willing of this sacrifice, born poor, thus eliminating any chance of him being given the task to make the ultimate sacrifice. The other, weak and unwilling, born to the bloodline of the gods and lords who have sacrificed themselves to keep the world alive.
Something I've noticed that's very different in Dark Souls 3 than in the previous ones, is the strong presence of the moon. In Dark Souls 1 the moon wasn't even present. The Figure of worship was the sun, and the Sun only. However in Dark Souls 3 the Moon is the noble's figure of worship. It's presence is very obvious in Dark Souls 3. All throughout Irithyl, the main source of light in the sky is the moon. The cool thing about the moon's strong presence in Dark Souls 3, is that the moon is incapable of shining by itself. Some poets call the moon a thief or a rogue. A vain miss, who could not shine shine by herself, and so stole the sun's own light to glow brighter than any star in the night's sky. This has some parallels in Dark Souls 3. For one, the knights of Irithyl, are all women, or womanly in aspect. Gwyndolin, despite knowing full well that he was a man by birth, was treated and trained like a daughter due to his affinity to the moon (which in the lore is womanly). I'm not sure what to do with these bits of trivia, or even if they are even related to anything. However I feel like someone more insightful than me, can make something out of this. Lastly one bit of odd unrelated trivia. In the Shinto religion, the sun deity is a woman (Amaterasu), and the moon deity is a man (Tsukiyomi). Its funny how certain things are very European (western in the context of Asia) about the Souls series, while others are very Japanese. *P.S. I'm aware I'm replying to myself
The sound design, mixing, and video editing here is top notch. These videos are the best quality by far out of any content creator going into deep detail about lore.
I don't think there's really a better character to emphasise this with, but massive shout-out to the voice actors in DS3. As with any Souls game, the dialogue is certainly unusual and dripping with the kind of fantasy dialect that makes every character feel like they're chewing on a thesaurus, but this game in particular has some of the best and most heartfelt performances to go with some fantastic little character stories.
I honestly cant get enough of your videos, I started watching them before I played dark souls. They made me want to play it, and made it so much more interesting. I even watched your videos playing with criken, It would be really awesome to see you do a lore-playthrough since they didnt really let you talk. Thank you for making these amazing videos. We all really appreciate the massive amount of work you put into them. It's just something really special to see someone doing something they really enjoy and love. Thank you.
I never know if it's better for Greyrat to die in Lothric Castle, or to deny his last pillaging trip and let him witness the Ashen One's decision regarding the First Flame (whether you link it, take it, or simply let it go out). Greyrat didn't want to die a rat, but would it have been wrong for him to witness the end (or continuation) of the world with his friend? I'm not sure what he would have preferred. (I was a softy; for my first playthough I left most of the NPCs alone (I was swimming in Gold Winged Knight souls and didn't want their clothes) and left each of them an Ember while I let the First Flame die and my Ashen One goes Hollow, their journey completed...)
It is similiar to the first game and Soliare. You can either kill the chaos bug, and keep solaire from going hollow. Or let him get the chaos bug and find the sun he searched so long for. A lot of NPCs are like that. Laurentius is the same too. Either let them go hollow and die, but complete their life goal. Or keep them safe and protected, but never to find what they are looking for.
Same with Siegmeyer. You either let him die in glorious battle on your behalf, or fight alongside him, saving his life but depriving him of his purpose, making him go hollow.
and lets not forget Alfred from Bloodborne, in wishing to follow in his master's ways, leading him to the immortal vileblood queen only to serves to undo Martyr Logarius' methods of keeping Annalise locked away from the world. But if we were to never help him, his mission is already fulfilled to its best possible outcome.
And then there's me who killed everyone left in Firelink at the end of my first playthrough because I wanted to have everything on that character. I mostly only felt bad for killing Orbeck.
I feel like people don't talk enough about how fantastic the voice acting is in these games. There's so much emotion and depth behind Greirat's rapsy voice.
I'm sorry, my friend, but I don't want you to go into that castle. I know the weight of grief, I know it weighs on one's mind.... the constant pressure.. the need for escape. Nevertheless I beg you, don't go into that castle. I know I'm being selfish, but I've lost too much already and I feel that the weight of losing one more friend will crush me... ... Please... don't go... please.
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen. I'm late to getting into the Dark Souls series (I haven't even finished DS3), but watching this makes me want to start over (again lol) and leave the tearstone ring by loretta's body in the undead settlement to honour her, like leaving flowers by a grave. The way you tell the story it's so easy to get lost in the lore. It's so emotional. Time to binge watch all your videos and subscribe!
I never send him off to any outings. He seemed like a genuine good guy ever since first met him and I don't want him to get hurt. Just stay here at firelink buddy.

Lore theory theory that someone might have already said:
What if Greirat didn't just want to snoop around to get out of the Shrine? Look at it this way; Greairat, directly or indirectly, was caught and imprisoned by the Lothric nobles, rendering him unable to save Loretta's life. When you save Greairat, he recognizes you as an Unkindled, bound to eventually fight the lords of Cinder. What if Greirat went thieving in order to gather supplies for you, knowing full well that you would use them against the Twin Princes? What I really dig about the questline too is that the key to his cell in the High Wall already warns about Lothric Castle and how thieves who dare go there never return. The game already warns you about the outcome before you even first talk to Greirat.
Also Patches does still leave for the Castle. After telling him about Greirat, he's gone from Firelink until one boss is slain, and returns with a Hidden Blessing. Which kinda makes me think that Patches did head to see if he can rescue Greirat, but failed to find him, yet he did return alive from the Castle, cementing Patches still as the #1 rogue in the series!
He is unbreakable afterall

I always thought Greirat store Loretta's ring and later regretted it, knowing she would be killed without it. I don't think she was anything in particular to him, other than a mistake he made and wants to put right.
*stole
oh no that just fucked me up
"heavens, she was already dead. almost a relief, really" gives totally different meaning to these words

Good job spoiling the game for yourself xd
People seem to get really caught up in spoilers, dark souls is good gameplay wise and story wise. There are spoilers for gameplay, and spoilers for story, but they are different categories entirely, besides, if the story is spoiled you can still go back and play it for the novelty.
Thank you Vaati from the bottom of my heart as well. It is because of your videos why I started playing the games. I loved the lore and how the story is told.
greirat is my favorite souls character.
Mine is Pinwheel because i can kind of relate to his grief.
Mine will always be Sif no matter how many souls games they make
Solid Snake Gwyndolin is mine
solaire is the best for me he's the only NPC I ever summon because the boss is annoyingly hard "O&S" and killing him is the hardest thing I've ever done in dark souls series
When it came to greirat the thief , I've always thought that the reason he makes runs like this. Is that he wants to die to be with his love. But he would like to die with purpose.
A few missed details:
1. Greirat uses a bandit's knife, not a thrall axe.
2. The "peculiar onion knight" saves Greirat even if you don't tell patches where he has gone.
3. If you kill Greirat in firelink shrine, then patches will attack you near the giant tree.
Dragonbasty He didnt mis it but simply chose this story line.
He might inglude the other one in the onion knight lore video.
Dragonbasty Siegward only saves Greirat If u already give him back his Armour saving him from the well. If u don't and let Greirat goes, Greirat dies.
2. not really. For that to happen you need to have bought the armor from Patches and given it back to Siegward. If you don't do that you need to tell Patches where Greirat is for him to be saved.

I was just trying to say that it's definitely not always patches who saves greirat.

I have Never play a Souls Game in my Life but I really enjoy this guy story telling.
3 runs in & I've failed to keep that poor guy alive, every time...
All you really have to do is follow OnionBros quest line down to a T and not send Greirat out to pillage Lothric Castle. That's how I do it anyway
Apparently the mistake I keep making without realizing is going to Irithyll Dungeon before killing Pontiff.
I think I may have done that on each run too.
I find it incredible how even in a game without cutscenes the voice acting can be so top-notch.

Dear VaatiVidya,
As with many of the videos I have watched from all the way to Demon Souls to Dark Souls 3, your videos have provided with excellent content and narration from your part.

He might've stolen many treasures, but he always stole our heart.
waking up to a vaati video is the best feeling in the world
Gotta love his prices compared to that of the handmaiden or... Patches... ugh.
you hate him because you aint him
Beautifully written and narrated. Thanks for that, I really enjoy your work Vaati :)
aww whoever put the subtitles in left a nice message at the end
This was beautifully done Vaati. You truly are an irreplaceable jewel in this mad community.
May the flames guide thee.
It's fantastic to see such great shots and views using that free-flying camera. I have to assume you've been using cheat engine for it, which is a big risk given the recent bans and what not. I wonder if Vaati uses a 2nd account, with a 2nd copy of the game to not risk the ban, perhaps?
I heard he uses a secret feature in the game for it called "offline mode". Spooky, I know
My point was that anyone who has had CE, online or offline, was getting banned recently.
GenerationHollow There's no way to detect its use offline. Unless you do something ridiculous so when you go back online the game notices you have 10 of a particular bosses soul or something impossible in that vein, there's literally no way it could be detected.
Well, I believe he just use a fly cheat and then used it offline.
I avoided the bans. I do a lot of stuff, but it's all offline.
Greirat, firekeeper and siegmeir are the only npcs i care about and 2 of them die
:(
I cared about Hawkweed the most!
@@blair5475 I killed hawkwood the first few minutes I saw him...
why
Blair hawkwood the deserter. Hes a coward who fled and abandoned his brothers
@@antonh1159 that's not why I killed him, I killed him because I thought he was annoying
I'm just gonna say it....I want to see a prepare to cry or a lore video on Edward emberpants
the omega maverick It's EDWAD!
Ah sorry, but still id like to see him make it just as like a joke or somthing
Yeah but that's a comment not a video
what video is that comment on?
Probably in April
Greirat was always my favorite NPC and now I feel like I fully understand his story and character. This video killed me Vaati, thank you.
SnowFireBlues that's a really amazing observation (:
Vaati = Souls Lore Master
Zinja No! That title is reserved for Lore Master Krupa (IGN UK)
Paul Mackenan gotta check that out
The sound design, mixing, and video editing here is top notch. These videos are the best quality by far out of any content creator going into deep detail about lore.
Poor Greirat. He died as so many Souls players have died.
Misjudging the height of that jump
Thank you.
i accidentally gave lorettas bone to the crow at the fire shrine....
Blade assassin049 what did you get in return
What'd you get?
@@Leotheleprachaun Ring of Sacrifice, which aligns with his theme. Pretty cool.
@@Kuoted It was a needless exchange though. You can get several Rings of Sacrifice in the game.
OOF
Really? No pity for killing Irina, Greirat or Karla?
One of the best videos on a game character ever. Beautiful
I know I'm being selfish, but I've lost too much already and I feel that the weight of losing one more friend will crush me...
...
Please... don't go... please.
wat
maymays
I didn't let him go to lothric castle.
Time to binge watch all your videos and subscribe!
i always love this guy :) also love your voice and how you tell storys
Honestly, this video made me feel better about sending Greirat off to Lothric. May you rest in peace, legendary thief.
I never send him off to any outings. He seemed like a genuine good guy ever since first met him and I don't want him to get hurt. Just stay here at firelink buddy.
Greirat is the best character in the series. I miss him so.
