    Carl! I think one of the most important things for us beginners is the "big picture" road map to mastering the guitar. I think such a lesson would benefit lots of people in my shoes. I've been learning guitar for couple years now and I'm at a point where I almost don't know where I am or where I'm going in terms of my guitar skills.

    I think a habit lesson would be kind of cool. Like habits of Gilmour, Clapton, etc. Maybe explore examples of certain tones, kind of like you did in the "Time" video you posted. I really enjoyed those!

  • @melodicman3032
    @melodicman3032 7 лет назад

    Hi David
    I've been viewing many guitar teachers on line for about 4 years now. What I'm looking for is a guitar course that can teach a student a comprehensive way of learning how to play guitar so in time a student can play his own solo's and chordal voicings
    and truly understand how the pentatonic scales and all the other popular blues and rock scales work in conjunction with chordal voicings. I guess it would be a guitar course that a student could take at his own pace and have more interface with the teacher when the student hits a brick wall.
    I'm the kind of student that likes learning songs to put more fun into guitar practice but I put way more emphasis on theory and how I can know when, where why to put my fingers on the fretboard to find the notes I'm looking for . I'm also 63 years old and would like to get to this stage of competence asap if you know what I mean. I've been playing guitar for the past 8 years on and off and for the last two years I have decided to finally start understanding the fretboard as much as possible to create my own phrasing. The times of just emulatng a song from someone else is over for me. I NEED to know how and why and note names etc. etc.
    I"m serious about my gear. In the past 10 years I've concentrated on how to set up my stats and keep them in tune . I've bought and sold guitars on line and quite frankly I believe now it's time to really learn how to play guitar.
    I would say my learning level is intermediete. I know the notes on the 6, 5, 4, and 1 strings. I can play the 5 positions of the minor pentatonic scale. I just don't quite understand how to apply these positions to all keys . I understand the major scale intervals. I just need to apply them in practice so I can reinforce my learning.
    I hope this all makes sense to you David.
    Best Regards and keep up the good work !
    Mike in Montana

    Just an FYI people in Canada don't use the metric system for height. Other then legal stuff like ID and medical. I don't know what the deal is with other countries that use metric. But in Canada we don't use metric for height or construction. Oh, and just a question how come you think they alternate picking is the most important technique. I would've thought that it would be economy picking. But that's just me, and you're input would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Carl, Thanks for the fantastic lessons and advice. Would it be possible to cover how to set up a great guitar tone on a small tube amp? I use a H&K Tubemeister 5W head into a 12" cab and play / record at home -- i would be fascinated to know how you dial in your fabulous rock tones for your videos. How do you find the sweet spot on the amp for a good rock tone before adding overdrive pedals etc?

    • @GuitarLessons365

      Hey Philip, I don't have an amp over here to do that sort of thing unfortunately. What I will be doing throughout the month of June is creating a new Premium video guitar course showing people how to create guitar tones from scratch. Starting from the basics of EQing to creating good signal chains with effect pedals. My goal is for people to be able to create tones using whatever pieces of gear they have since a lot of this stuff is not amp specific. :)

      Oh yeah, those are always fun to come up with. I stopped doing it because it seemed people where getting bummed out that is was all shred stuff. Kinda hard to come up with unique licks that are interesting to the ear and hands. I am thinking of maybe doing more but creating licks that not only work on a specific technique, but that also help you visualize theory at the same time. An exercise for the mind and fingers! What do you think about that?

    • @jonnyschubert6384
      @jonnyschubert6384 7 лет назад +1

    Hey Carl can you please tell wich software do you use for recording guitars... n how do you record it???

    • @andrewrichardson3135
      @andrewrichardson3135 7 лет назад

      Himanshu Swt You can use GarageBand (what I use) But you need an aux cable or guitar cable to headphone jack adapter. Then just plug it up to your computer (make sure you are using the headphone port for sound input). If your amp or pedal has a headphone port then just use an aux cable. If you wish to record off an iPad/iPhone you'll need a headphone/microphone Y splitter. I'm not very familiar with recording softwares but I hope this helps :D
