I've been a big fan for years now... love your work with John Hammond, too, who is also a great bluesman ! Love the DVD... bought it when it first came out... very entertaining !
I first saw Rick Estrin back in 1980 at the Eugene hotel in Oregon. My friend blues guitarist Joel Foy and I were driving around town looking for blues bands to see and we saw in the newspaper a band called "Little Charlie and the Nightcats" and Joel said, that sounds like a blues band let's go see them so we did and were blown away. It was their first time in Eugene and they didn't bring much equipment so next night I lent them some amps and was surprised that Little Charlie was also a bad ass harmonica player, he blew the speaker out of my 1955 Danelectro amp playing 1st position harp. I've been a fan of Rick and Charlie ever since.
A true artist and a fascinating performer! Love Rick Estrin. Saw him live at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago with Little Charlie n the Nightcats, and Rick stole the show. Blew me away. Very memorable. This cat is the real deal!
BANG! JUST SCORED TICKETS TO SEE RICK AT BOULDER STATION CASINO IN SUNNY LAS VEGAS THIS THURSDAY EVENING. HAVE WAITED LIKE FOREVER TO SEE THIS "CAT". CAN'T WAIT, BUT I WILL. CHEERS
Not many harp players are as expressive as Rick Estrin hands down top dog showmanship hardworking genius of true spirit..Jimmy Reed was my vinyl hero as well. I admire his sterling honesty in his stories. His live tonal mastery of amped harmonica blew me away at Boogaloo Cafe in Hermosa Beach back in the 90's. Many geniuses played there Kim Wilson, Lynwood Slim (played flute too), Roy Rodgers, Boneshakers, Kirk Fletcher and dozens more. What 4 trolls dumped Rick with down thumbs? Obviously, they just don't understand blues genre real deal players interviews -- in my opinion this artist is extraordinary and it shows by his authentic blues stories and music playing. Buy his CDs...My library has many Nightcats masterpieces!
Hey Rick , The first time I listen you was on a record with Roy loney and the phantom movers , and with Michael wilhem from flamin'groovies !!! I'm absolutly fan !!!
There's only a hand full of good harp players. Charley Messelwhite, Kim Wilson to name few. They aren't the player or showman Rick is. A true master and a good human being!😎
Ya, he’s for REAL. This is something you can’t fake. In fact, I can’t stand those “Blues” want to be’s who try and emulate just what Estrin does, and does extremely uniquely!!! He also used to Box. Take a close look at his knuckles. Very telling.
You’re THE harp master of your generation Rick.!!♥️🎸🎹🎵🌺
