Alan’s an amazing dude and massive asset. Not saying Alan is old but where there’s age…. There’s experience and sometimes alls you have to do is listen dave I’ve always bin big fan but good people shouldn’t be brushed off like that.
Dave is just always trying to be the star of the show and always has to use his ideas first. He's too smug to try somebody else's opinion or ideas first
A good leader would definitely listen to there experience workers
Everyone has their opinions. If Dave didn't put his opinions first, he wouldn't be where he is today. Dave is wrong sometimes, and so is Allen. That's the beauty of life, we learn from our mistakes how to be better.
Dave’s is responsible for his employees and equipment. So Dave has the final say. I was happy to see Alan get his idea about lifting the bucket over the tree passed with the boss and it went smoothly.
Alan can rush things and is kind of a klutz sometimes. If I was responsible for all that equipment I would be having the final say so. Alan has good intentions but sometimes he needs to slow down.
Unbelievable how humble Alan is.
Remember Dave, the sign of a great leader is to listen and trust the people around him.
And teach them to work and decide like yourself

Most of the comments are about dave not listening to Allan, i hope he reads these and understands that his crew with different ages and experiences can help because the more you brush people off and their ideas makes them want to go do something else where they are appreciated more.

He Could brag, he Should be cocky but he’s not. He’s excited. He loves heavy equipment, he likes getting them Unstuck and running again. NOBODY else would help this guy but he/they did.
Dave brought many people to the camera to show their awesomeness and Alan is definitely one of them …. team work and respect will drive the success!

Lol bud he controls every aspect. So if he has beef with him he just wouldn't bring him. Let alone bring him to every single recovery he does. Not every idea needs to be implemented. Most there recoveries are easy but they hyp it up so much they have to make it seem like a struggle. Notice how they always mention 3-5 other companies failed where we succeeded

I like Diesel Dave, he can be a bit of a goof ball at times, but never seems to get upset, very good at relating to people, not afraid to jump right in, solid worker and seems to be the guy who keeps everyone calm.
I'm so happy Alan is part ov the diesel family now it wouldn't be the same with out him 😊

Allen is such an intelligent, thoughtful, fun loving, humble dude… Dave is still da’boss and while it may seem like the vid shows Dave diss’ng Allen’s ideas… deep down I feel like Dave loves Allen and would do anything for him… Allen is core to the the Sparks squad and we all respect him 💪

That's half the problem because Heavy D rarely has any good ideas!!!
The reality is Heavy D is not a recovery expert, not a rigging expert and not a heavy equipment operator. He is a used car salesman . He is a smart businessman and a pretty decent human being. A guy who’s paycheque relies on him getting up everyday to recover vehicles, or hoist and rig equipment, or operate heavy equipment, those guys are the experts. Heavy D is a smart dude, but what he doesn’t know shows quite often. Alan is not an expert either, but obviously years and years of experience gives him a pretty solid knowledge base and he’s able to think outside the box and come up with practical ideas. And before anybody jumps on me I had 32 years as a journeyman doing hoisting and rigging and I don’t consider myself an expert. Overall a good group of guys but they have their limitations.
I find it really weird, diesel won't listen to Allan when he clearly has moved many many heavy mechanics vehicles. He also has what a canyon full of HUGE buildings, or carts. He's your #1 guy now go Allan.
You mean sparks. Diesel is very humble. Sparks can be a bit big headed and egotistical I find. Having worked with people very similar to sparks

Diesel is the long haired guy who was joking about only having 50 percent of his hair. Sparks is the one driving the excavator. HeavyD has an ego, but if he can learn to control it and take the advice of his crew, then he'll go a long way. He's got some good guys, he just needs to listen to what they're throwing out.

When i see operations like this, i would like to make a suggestion: In that situation when both the Excavator and the Hett are pulling,
an intercom system ( headsets ) could come in handy, so both drivers and in this case Alan could easily communicate, coordinate the pull.
Yes, hand signals work, done that myself many times during construction work, but talking with each other might work even better.
Dave talks about getting coms but it falls through all the time. I don't get it. Maybe they like shouting and waving arms 🙄

Dave, the mark of a great leader is someone who surrounds themselves with quality people, and then uses them in pursuit of a goal. If you're not going to listen to Alan, why have him at the job site at all? Anyone could have just stood there and listen to you bark commands. You don't always have to be star of the show. You raise yourself up by lifting others.
All these vlogs just make me feel anxious. I do not want anyone hurt and that equipment is knarly. Loved it. Be safe.

Everything Alan suggested to do in the beginning that Dave said no to, they ended up doing exactly what Alan said and it worked! They always shoot down Alan’s suggestions but end up doing most of them and don’t give Alan any credit for it.

10:30 Always seem to need a way to lift. Consider fabricating at triangle (just 2 or 3 I-beams that connect at apex(s)). Use as lifting lever by throwing winch cable over it, then down to lift point. Triangle will pivot at base, lifting until perpendicular to ground, then going over center and laying back down... moving a yard or more with each iteration. Use close to load for maximum lift. Farther from load to improve pulling angle (over pully) when pulling.
