Calgary Stampede - Last year (2023), I was able to experience my first Calgary Stampede up in Alberta, Canada, and it did not disappoint.
Some call it “COWchella” while others refer to it as “the greatest outdoor show on earth.” Either way, it’s something you gotta add to your bucket list.
This year’s Calgary Stampede is July 5-14, and it’ll include all the Western wonder a wannabe cowboy can handle. Rodeos, rides, indigenous culture, food stalls (with Ketchup Ice Cream), and a full-on line up of incredible musical guests.
I wish I knew about the Calgary Stampede when I was 22! This place is insane!

I've been following you for a long time and love watching your content and your journey. I'm from Calgary and live very close to the Market Mall. There is so much happening here during the Stampede. The Stampede is amazing and I hope you were able to get to a night at the rodeo. I have always believe the heart of the Stampede though is the community events that go on continuously all over the city during the whole time. It pulls this city together through the good times and the bad and pulls alot of the rest of Alberta into it as well. I hope you have more content coming soon. Keep it up Gareth and love the hat!

Awesome episode, man! Not gonna lie, the Calgary Stampede isn't something that was on my radar but it looks like a lot of fun! I loved seeing the Indigenous representation there and seeing you get your hat and boots. And how awesome is it that the man Shaquille O'Neal was there?! So cool! Love this episode. As Calgarian myself, all this “greatest show on earth “ is about single people who have deep pockets. We , many as I am, mostly leave town to avoid all this crowd and expensive visit to the Stampede grounds. Yahoo
You beat me too this comment, I try and spend as little time as possible in Calgary during the stampede.
It was fun as I first moved to Calgary, now it's an over priced night out where you're spending time around drunks.
The parking is horrible if you're unfortunate to live nearby the grounds as everyone wants free parking, everyone pretends to be a cowboy as they have no clue about what's involved, and most of all it's insanely expensive with you getting less and less each year.
I call it Western Halloween

Next time he can take in the Grandstand show and fireworks, and go into the Round-up Centre (unfortunately renamed the BMO Centre because that's who paid for its expansion) to see all the art and wares and wine gardens. Plus the Agriculture barns to see all the animals and the sheepdog and cutting horse trials. Etc!

I don't know whether you know this, but a lot of people in the big cities of central Canada absolutely despise Alberta and Albertans. This video shows just how wrong they are. Clearly, Calgary rocks and you'd have to be a loser NOT to enjoy yourself at the Stampede.

If you want to see a lot of people gather with powwows go to Albuquerque, NM to gatherings of nations. This year the dates are April 25-27.
Ive been in calgary for 3 years and never been to stampede cuz its either i pay my rent or go to stampede. I think what i have to do is start saving from the year before.

They do rthis in San Antonio Texas in February. Pretty much the same thing for Rodeo week.
Do 300,000 people line the parade route? . Calgary Stampede had 1,384,632 people pass through the gates over 10 days in 2023. It truly is the greatest outdoor show on earth.

Wow that is one epic rodeo, I’ve been to rodeo’s here in Australia but nothing on a scale like that.
I used to ride horses when I was kid and have had my own rodeo’s, when some horses decided to try and buck me off. Never got thrown off , just hung and enjoyed the ride and afterwards they get tired of trying to get rid of me and then start behaving.👍

I went to Coachella in 2007, 2010 and 2019. First 2 times were awesome, the last time was a completely different atmosphere. It went from music fans and hippies to way too many social media influencers and instagram models that were more interested in the perfect costume and getting photos for clout and wouldn’t even stay for the music. It was bizarre to me and the whole thing felt pretentious. I still had fun but it’s lost the original spirit

Rodeos- a place where grown adults play dress up and watch animals being abused for entertainment… if you disagree, imagine a human in their place of the animal and tell me if it’s humane.. just a couple years ago a calf had its neck broke in the middle of a rodeo in Canada, even after the snap, the ass hole continued to wrangle the poor baby..

I lived in Calgary in the 80's and went to the Stampede one year - and left after about an hour. Not an experience I ever want to repeat.
The biggest and greatest rip-off outdoor Rodeo show in the world.
