    His songs are so hard to sing. He goes from mask singing, too full chest, too mixed w/ loads of key changes and hella agility (riffs and runs for days). Musical genius!

    Stevie Wonder's voice is a whole master class by itself. So many textures, variances, and techniques...he's just awesome and one of my all time favorite singers.

    he is the king of key changes.... and I love the way he usually conducts the changes with the vocal melody... I used to sing in a Stevie Wonder Tribute band here in Brazil and it was soooo demanding vocaly and musicaly. It was a hard training period. Lol

    When he sings live he sometimes makes stylistic choices I don't find the most pleasing to the ear but he definitely has an almighty instrument and he's kept his voice intact to this day. One of the best musicians of all times.

    I love how you can hear the joy in his singing. Every choice and placement is influenced by his joy. The smile he has never leaves while his singing which makes us smile while we’re listening. Excellent analysis per usual!

      @troylynnbrewster7315 Yes, Luther was so many other artists' background singers. I believe it was Roberta Flack who told him to get from behind her and made a go it for himself. I miss him so much

      he is so musical, he has so many options/choices to choose from, he uses dynamics, placement, runs, vocal fry, vowel modifications, playing with the rhythm, ad libbing, vibrato. He just uses everything and it keeps it so interesting and live. Incredible musician :)

    This is my very favorite song on earth. There’s a version of him singing it for the first time on a TV show in 1983 (no video, just audio). It sounds quite different, but still amazing.

    My English is poor, Thank you for this analysis Jaron. it will take a lot more than one episode to analyze stevie's voice because it is so
    incredible, it spontaneously reflects an intense and brilliant joy, both plaintive which sublimates the emotion and brings the audience
    almost to the verge of tears. I am not a voice analyst but I can understand that there are efforts intense muscular vocal cords and
    the grace of a divine gift. Stevie has already reached a vocal level never equaled on this planet.

    The attack alone from when he started the song is a necessary component. The tone and dynamic was spot on.
    Was playing this song earlier, tryna learn how to sing it in baritone & tenor weren’t easy. This video was highly appreciated & needed.

    I saw him in May in Houston, and this was one of the songs he sang. And at 73, he sounded phenomenal! I was blown away!

    In college in the 70’s I saved my money just in case Stevie dropped an album. I saw him in Atlanta 30+ years later and his voice was even more beautiful! Overjoyed!

    He took on many aspects of Donny Hathaway, after donny became so popular. yes, Stevie was out before this, but you can hear the influence and adoption by Stevie.

    When you look up music in the dictionary, Stevie’s name should be there. Twice. He makes music that is astounding to musicians, and infectious to the masses. That is the highest order of talent and skill. He’s nothing more or less than the absolute best.

    Stevie imitated Bob Dylan's voice to help him feel more comfortable singing his part on 'We Are the World.'' It was an eye-opening documentary. He's a masterful singer/performer.

    This is such a fun video to watch and listen to. I learned so much and really like the things you point out. It's so amazing that you can appreciate the all the little things he does and your vocabulary of vocal characteristics is inspiring me to sing and get back in to vocal studies. I really am obsessed with this song too at this time and just watched this live performance before your analysis popped up. It's really a treat
