We love and miss Tom Harbin. Xander and I first met Tom 7 years ago at Tinley and looked forward to seeing him every year. We spent so much time talking about life and ball pythons and Xander's dream of breeding ball pythons. Tom is an inspiration to the entire reptile community.
Yes, he was a wonderful member of the community, he will be missed.
So very sad
You guys are amazing. Great to see the Barnhart line finally on the panels.
Thanks! Barnhart is now available, but won’t be part of the big panel for another month or two. But we are working on it!
Glad to see the BH BP is up now! Keep up all the good work!
Was wondering if there would be reruns of the Black Pastel tests that came back as negative on supers to see if they fall under the Barnhart variation?
Yeah, send us an email with any order number and we will see what we can do! (raregeninc@gmail.com) Keep in mind that for any super BP looking animal, cinnamon could also be part of the equation. We are working on a cinnamon test now, hopefully we will have that before too long!
Now this is super wild and cool! So stoked to have projects dropping in these categories. Hopefully I’ll have some stuff to send in and help out with this. 🤙🏻
Awesome, and thanks so much!!!
Congrats on the first hatchling sold! How exciting! 🎉
Thank you!!!
Great show guys ty for doing all the work you guys do. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, will do!!!
One word to Justin's Mysterious triple het Clutch SPLATTER. lol
Interesting, we shall see!
Awesome to hear about the new tests!
Has the Citrus line of Pastel proved out on your test as well? I may need to add a test on from one you already tested. 😉
We will be testing some citrus pastel over the next couple weeks, we shall see!
@@raregeneticsinc should I wait in adding the test on then? It's a possible citrus pastel as it's a BEL. But you have her sample there already.
@@Armiyanayes, give us another week or two to do some testing to see if we pick up citrus pastel with this test. Some in the past said it was not compatible with the more common pastel, we shall see.
I am sooo wanting ALL the pastels testable!! Alot of the base genes still need to get in there.
We are on it!!! 🙌
@raregeneticsinc a few id love to know if it's even in the pipeline....monsoon, tri, weirdo and wookie. You all are doin a bang up job at moving the entire hobby forward!
Also have u guys checked to see if blade and enchi are the same gene? So many genes I've wondered about over the yrs. Very neat time to be in the hobby😁
I’ve actually already sent you a possible double visual puzzle clown or clown het puzzle over a week ago I paid for a 30 panel test to see what else could be at play.
Awesome! Did you happen to put in the notes that they are possible double visual? I’ll keep an eye out! 🙏🙌
I pmd you
I have an unrelated question. Is Banana a simple sex liked trait like in birds (I raise Parrots for rare colors and patterns and work with sex linked traits) or is there something else going on?
Very good question! It is actually different with the banana mutation in ball pythons compared to sex linked traits in parrots. This is because the sex chromosomes in parrots are very different in size, and the Z and W do not, in general, recombine with each other. But in ball pythons the X and Y chromosomes are very similar in size, and recombination does occur across much of the sex chromosomes. This is a fairly complex topic, and is one we go into great detail on our, “Back to School” episodes of our show from last fall. Hopefully that is helpful, and let us know if you have more questions come up!
So would that translocation happen every time or only sometimes if it was happening?
It would happen one time and then always pass in the new location from that time forward.
I just sent a shed in, will it have pastel in it?
Pastel and Barnhart black pastel won’t be part of the big panel for another month or two
