    Wow, I've really been looking forward to this one! What a shock that Black Axanthic is the same as TSK! I can't wait to get the results of my shed and learn what Axanthic I have. Mine randomly popped out of a Pied pairing last year and neither parent has any history of Axanthic.

    • @raregeneticsinc
      @raregeneticsinc  4 месяца назад +1

      Congrats!!! I’d say chances are good that it will be GCR/MJ background if it popped out of a pied clutch…but the testing can tell you for sure!

    My friend called it! They work with TSK and noticed quite a few TSK animals will go dark, so they started to suspect TSK and blax are the same. Glad to finally have some answers!

      Another thing, I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence, but majority of the dark phase animals we've come across have been female. Could it be tied to their sex? 🤷‍♀

    • @raregeneticsinc
      @raregeneticsinc  4 месяца назад +1

      Very interesting, and yes, certainly possible it could be sex-linked. We will have to see if we can figure that out!

    As someone with MJs who has thought about trying for doubles with either red ax or VIP the one hold I’ve been thinking about is just how much recessive is too much? Like double Merle in dogs, I guess if you put double hets together and get an unhealthy clutch we would know, but it’s daunting to take that risk

Individual animals will always have their Individual quality speak for themselves. I look forward to learning more about what is going on and bringing this project to new heights.

    It sounds like the Black Axanthic Justin originally got were polygenic, and while he kept the Axanthic by easily identifying it in babies, the other visible complimentary genes were slowly lost. That makes the original sound pretty valuable though.

    • @raregeneticsinc
      @raregeneticsinc  4 месяца назад

      Yes, that could be the case. Would be cool to be able to test for a dark gene or genes. It will take some concerted effort, but you all have come through for several projects now, so I’d imagine we can make it happen!

    So will the Atlantic Talk change on Morf market as far as all the different lines also, another question have you done any or thought about doing any more testing for recessive Alec line.? for example the Cryton. Clown/cryptic.

    • @raregeneticsinc
      @raregeneticsinc  3 месяца назад

      I would imagine that Morph Market will test these lines the same as they did Lesser/Butter, Mystic/Phantom, and Hurricane/Trick/Blitz.
      We do have a clown test and a cryptic test, so with those two tests you can test for hets of either or both, and for homozygous clown or cryptic

    Question: How many Black Axanthic samples were run? How many TSK samples were run? I heard 12 sheds from 5 breeders. Did you mean 60 sheds total?

    • @raregeneticsinc
      @raregeneticsinc  4 месяца назад

      We are running more almost every day! We have run about 50 we expected to be negative (because we also have to test and make sure the test calls negatives correctly), about 80 TSK (about half hets, half homs), and now over 20 black Axanthics and all look good!!!

    • @Katy-LilacHollow
      @Katy-LilacHollow 4 месяца назад +1

      I don't know if it's necessarily bad for black Axanthic adopters (I got into it in 2021, first clutch is due to lay this week). I'm actually excited that it's the same because now I can look for dark phase TSK animals to add the genetics. I'm hung on the dark look, not the morph name.

    • @lanedj801
      @lanedj801 4 месяца назад +3

      @@Katy-LilacHollow I meant sucks as far as how expensive black axanthic was in comparison to tsk because it was so new and there aren’t that many. I really don’t think this is a bad thing either. I just feel bad if people paid thousands for something that it isn’t. This is almost like the banana CG situation except it’s actually recessive.

    • @raregeneticsinc
