I’ve seen some of grand pianos video where they pull out the action here 19:58 but never seen the steps they took before the action come out, this’s really interesting to watch :D

I bought this piano 5 months ago and I really love it. Went from an upright kawai k-300 piano to this GL10, and it really made a big difference !
Hello, what differences are most prominent? and did you try other brands? maybe even a Steinway even if only for reference? thnx. We are thinking about a grand but since we probably only buy one in our lifetime id rather buy a really good one

I couldn't try lower budget Steinway, but yeah I tried other brands. I went to Paris and tried pianos from 10k€ to 40k€ to get my own feeling of these
I might have been fooled by how they were set up, and that choice is very personal :) I didn't have a very good feeling with yamaha (C3 if I remember correctly), and others (sorry didn't take notes about the ones I didn't like)
In the end I only had 2 pianos on which I had a excellent feeling, the Kawai GL10 and the Bechstein W. Hoffman Vision 175. I would say the Bechstein was better overall, in the high notes (more brillant) and the GL10 high notes are less brillant. If it was the piano of my lifetime, I would have chose the Bechstein. But the feeling was still similar and it wasn't worth the 10k difference in my sitatution.
The prominent differences to me: I am able to play really softly and still with precision, and I love the mellow sound of the bass
Definitely a personal opinion tho, definitely go and try as much as you can when you visit big cities :)

It would look basically just like this, actually. Kawai ships their ATX and AURES pianos with the systems already installed. Makes it a lot easier for us stores that way haha.

Always wondered how do they ship such sophisticated piece of hardware. Thanks for the video. Just a query, do pianos (upright/full-size grand ) generally gets shipped in this manner ?
It's crazy to think about, right? Such huge and delicate instruments being moved across the planet, materials sourced all over the world, and ending up in someone's living room. Amazing times.
And yes -- this is the standard way to ship pianos. Grands need the legs disassembled; uprights are sent whole. Wrap them up, secure the little parts in the action, and then drive slow haha.

@@familypianoco- Even more crazy is the story about the once famous Dutch pianos built by Rippen. They were so lightweight that they could be shipped by plane as early as the 1950s. Rippen built a second factory at an airport in Ireland so they could build and ship their instruments even cheaper and quicker around the world.
Sadly, the Rippen company didn't survive the aftermath of the economic crisis in the 1980s, due to increased heavy competition from Asian piano manufacturers.
Rippen's famous aluminum grand piano is still highly sought-after today. Rippen always used Renner action in their pianos and grand pianos, which still makes them reliable and smooth, just like any Kawai.

Is each leg stand of the piano assigned to a specific position or is it just random?
I think the legs are all interchangeable on the GL-10. But I haven't dropped one myself in quite a while. The back leg may have longer screws or something. Definitely read the manual to be safe haha. --Drew, 👩👩👦🎹
How much would the ATX4 version add to the MSRP.?
The Kawai overlords allow us to let you know the GL-10 is currently $14,395 at MAP, and the GL-10 ATX-4 is $18,095. So $3700 you're paying to get a $6,399 CA99 placed inside. Worth it? You let us know!
I recommend you habitually disregard MSRP, by the way. I might upset fellow piano stores by saying this, but we've never sold a piano at such a high price. It's a marketing thing. Trust me, I'm a marketer. --Drew, 👪🎹

Fair enough, yes, this exact model was finished in Indonesia. Although, as a side point, the Millennium III actions for all grands, including the GL-10 and GL-20, are made in Japan. So I was a little bit right :)
will it fit into a 4x7 elevator?
Yeah, it should. While it's on it's side, it's only 5' long by about 1.5' wide.
How much does this piano cost??
Kawai only lets us tell you its MAP is $14,395. But I strongly recommend contacting your local dealer! That's the lowest price we're allowed to advertise, but in-store is a different conversation.

The strings are still stretching, and the whole piano is still settling, albeit a tiny bit at a time. Each of the 230-ish strings has about 200 pounds of string tension, so overally, we're talking about 40,000 lbs of string tension overall.

LOL. Given that there are over 12,000 parts in a piano, I would seriously regret assembling it all myself, especially if I was given wordless confusing IKEA directions!
