My first ever review/unboxing video! What did you like about this video? What did you dislike?
Wow😲😲 nice keyboard 👍👍 sound is also very nice. Amazing . I have a challenge for you . Sir if you likes this challenge so please play it and a make video on it sir. The challenge is to play 10 national anthems of 10 countries. If you will play then I will be so much glad and happy.
I LOVE YOU MUSICAL BASICS!!!!!!!!
It was really good, it would have looked more professional if you included some more special footage like getting a zoomed in frame of the piano, it’s ports and some technical stuff like the polyphony, speakers and others. I guess that’s my idea, but great video after all, loved the improvisation!
Love to see you that happy ! The feeling of getting a new keyboard is always so good haha
I have this ES920, too! How is its sound compare to MP11SE's? Isn't the sound engine and recorded sound sample (SK-EX) the same? You seem surprised.
His acoustic piano in the background is like: "Betrayer."
The acoustic piano: TRAITORRRRR!!!!
traitor*
Turncoat…
And the digital piano is like: Let’s see how long you stay in tune lol
where i dont see it
Such an epic improvisation! You always blow my mind with your improvs, they’re super awesome! Thanks for always inspiring me!
Came for the keyboard and stayed for the beautiful improvisation.
mission accomplished :shades:

More of these kinds of videos! Gear reviews/ suggestions/ giving your opinions on it. Love this style, laid back yet informative and to the point.
Love how happy you are to get this, this is what I'm like when I get a new bass
The same shock you got with how good the keyboard sounds is the same shock I got when I heard you play I was mesmerized just beautiful playing.
I listened with my headphones, and wow, you hit this one out of the park! Very outstanding. So glad you like it as much as we do.
Epic journey home. Idk it’s just what popped into my head. Great piece. You are so talented. Thank you for this.
We could feel the joy and excitement of Lionel to open his favorite brand new keyboard! Love the 1st song Lionel composed on this new keyboard! ❤️❤️❤️
You are Insanely talented and I can say you are above professional level. Great job!
Hello! I really liked when you labeled the names of the pedals. I also like when you played those AMAZING pieces! There was nothing I didn’t like, it was all amazing! Anyways, thanks for the review cause I might get it.
dreaming of my dream coming true i think is a fitting title for this song so many emotions through out the improv i love it and keep up the amazing work ive been watching some of your videos for about two weeks to winddown and only just relised i hadnt subbed yet so i did on this one so great work
Amazingly beautiful and dark! I can’t think what would do it justice as for naming. You are so talented! 😱
I really enjoyed the improvisation piece!
Thank you!
“Overcome” or “Fears” May potentially be a great name!
I really enjoyed this video, seriously it's so awesome to hear a musician nerd out on how an instrument sounds/feels! because I do it too 😂 and the improvisation was amazing! It was almost jazzy I feel like, but some of it reminded me of water...so does Water Jazz sound good? 🤣 I'm not great at naming things 🤣
Spring tide !!!! as it flows in and out with vibrant rhythms "Astonishing playing"
wow Kawai should totally be paying you to showcase this... those songs compliment the different sounds beautifully
The hands crossed over playing was pretty cool. :-)) As was the rest of the amazing, amazing Improv.:-)
Loved the improv. It gives me the impression of a western movie. I'm not sure why, but for names; "Tabatha's Heart" came to mind. I wish I could justify that with something but there you have it. Love your playing and yes, the piano sounds amazing!
Congratulation 😊 my friend
It's a beautiful Sound👌
So have fun with your new instrument 🎹😃👍
I love these types of vlog unboxing videos!!! Keep it up
I think a name for this amazing piece you created could be "Key to Your Heart" or something along those lines. It feels like it is unlocking something, maybe the keyboards potential!
Nice review, I agree it's a very good digital piano. Your also a very good pianist. I almost purchased it but I preferred the Roland PHA-50 keys on their FP 90X which feel more like real piano keys. There is some texture on the keys so you fingers don't slip. In addition it has 4 speakers vs 2 on the Kawai. The sound is more in front of you while the Kawai feels like your more in the center of a room. Both are really good, it just a personal preference on what sound you prefer. Roland worked on getting more of a Steinway sound while Kawi sounds more like a Kawai piano.
I'm impressed by your improvisation! ! I would name it "waiting for you" , because some time in the music we can see hope, other time despairation . And also, your installation is a nightmare for cable management haha xD
I remember seeing a comment that you bought this keyboard. So cool to see you unbox it! Oh the envy I have 😂
Your improv very lovely melody, sound is rich and sounds like it coming from something with a way more mass🙏
I love your enthusiasm😊 and great review
I love your excitement!
Ill be the same way when my nee Kawai CA49 arrives
Beautiful improv, gorgeous. Stunning! :-)
Just found your channel. Adult beginner here. I look forward to following you. And wow, amazed at your beautiful playing. Thanks!.
Reminds me a lot of when I got my Privia this year. Love your new piano too 🥰 🎹
Man, This is just perfect. I just sold my last piano so im kinda looking for one. So seeing you getting a new keyboard is interesting
My name sugestion is "New World" because getting a new instrument can feel as joyus as exploring a new world, and this piece seems to enbody such a mediphore, as you joyusly explore your new keyboard with this imporvisation.
It actually sounds like it's name could be New World. Yes it fits because of the scenario, but for some reason it even sounds like a New World.
I'm drooling!!! Kawai sounds marvelous!!!!!
Holy shit, that impro was freaking amazing, I had chills all over the place. That was beautiful lionel.
As for a Name of the piece i consider something dark as the piece itself. I felt fear and fight for life and broken souls and even though there was so much despicableness there was still something fighting against, something more lovable. I felt something fall from an evil throne or something in the fight against an tragic hero who lost his life and died for the sake of the others.
I would call this impro "The Fall of the Ruthless King" or "Overcoming the ruined Kingdom"
I feel the same way. The piece to me felt like "overcoming" something a feeling of desperation and success
It doesn't need a name because it is an improvisation. After it is played, it is gone.
Bro ur writing a full essay
Ummm, can you change the second word?
I would simply call it Tamara... Rip
I haven't played in 50 years and I am buying this keyboard in eight days. I have already bought books and my son refinished an antique stool for me. I am soooo excited.. I would have purchased the mp11se for the wooden keys but just can't afford it..
I will probably get one of those stools that lifts up and down as well because I sanding off an antique piano that I got free on Marketplace to use as my keyboard stand. I am coming back to life and my antique piano is being brought back to life as well. I have it gutted and nearly have one side sanded off. I am just going to stain it and heavily varnish it and add a shelf.. It is a huge upright over 100 years old.
You play beautifully by the way...
Wow that was amazing! Speechless
Video is great and the improvisation is incredible! The first name for the song that came to mind is "Transcendence".
This is such a good video and his reactions were priceless
It's really hard to find a good digital piano/keyboard with a good feedback and haptic for a medium budget - on my own I'm quite satisfied with my Yamaha DP CLP-470.... but what I wanted to write is: This video is so lovely to listen to especially for your improvisation. It's an honour and pleasure to listen to your art. Thanks a lot for sharing! :-)
What an incredible end !
a melodic soul conversation! at first, it was the celebration of
returning... in a meadow park, then death falls and silence awakens. plenty of thoughts while listening to this engaging piece...i'll have to mull over this again, but Amen
Unbelievable improvisation. I hope I'm someday reincarnated to someone with even half this piano playing ability. Subscribed.
You are so talented! Wonderful to listen to
I few years ago I bought the Kawai VPC-1 grand piano controller which uses long woodcore keysticks that I use with the Steinway D and Ravenscroft 275 sample sets. Immediately I tossed all my plastic Yamaha and Casio keyboards and have never went back. Once you've experienced either the Kawai series pianos and Yamaha CFX, there is no going back. The feel of the keys and the precise action with let-off, there is no comparison. Even my 3-manual Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ (using Hauptwerk sample sets instead of real organ pipes) uses long woodcore keysticks with non-slip organic keytops made of bone that feel like the Kawai grand piano's. This Kawai ES920 sounds amazing but the plastic keys are a no-go for me. However for someone who wants quality top-notch sound but can't yet afford the more expensive keys, this is a good way to go as the Kawai MP-11 and VPC-1 are considerably more money but you get what you pay for.
that improvisation was so amazing i hope u make it a song with a sheet music of it
unbelievable! so awesome bro! ❤️
Just call that improv…. BEAUTIFUL!!!! You’re amazing
Came for the digital piano and I am amazed by your piano skills! The keyboard has very beautiful sound.
love the spectacular cable management in the backround
Oh my🙄 Beautifully done. ❤
Wow! You have a great feeling in your playing!
I must say you plays very good 👍….. the piano sounds nice but I am a Yamaha lover since many years , nice video
Regards Mikael from Sweden
It's very interesting to have your opinion on pianos and its different features.
While you were playing, I imagined a drop experiencing a lot of sensations, discovering wonderful and various landscapes when it was swept away by a river.
But then it finally reached the vast ocean, the journey became calm for a moment, after a while it begins to sink in the deep waters and there, near the ocean bottom it discovers some scary unknown and huge fishes...
Someday it will go back to the surface, then to the sky, and - who knows ? - finds its first river again...
So my suggestion is “Drop lost in the ocean” or “Drop's cycle” or something based on that (I will come back if I have a better idea).
Sorry for the possible mistakes (and thanks for reading all this) ^^
My goodness, the sound is amazing.
I’ve seen in your recent videos you’re playing on the Yamaha P515. Looking forward to a review of that keyboard as well!
dude that sound and the vibe is one of a kind...even though my music understanding is not the best
what I felt when listening to it was a long lasting kind of bitterness, anxiety, pain and anger that one has to carry for the rest of times but it hasn't to be something bad as long one is able to be proud of how far one has come
wich is why i think '' every path leads north '' could be a title for the impro
read the story only if u are realy realy REALY bored because it is a bit long
freed from the home wich was ones his own. on his way to make a living in the harsh but rich north. struggling day for day, month for month, year for year in the society of north between people that have long lost their heart while climbing higher while pulling those around them into the abyss of Ice and snow. for himself to make a living in this kind of enviroment to fit in he had to become what the north represents, a bitter cold mountain of ice and snow while casting away his warmth and love wich he was gifted by his dear old mother he left in warm house on the hill surrounded by spring and all the wonders that follow along to achieve his dreams. becoming a star wich shine bright high over the plains of North for pride and revognition. on the day he reached his long life goal at old age as he rose higher and higher as tho one and only northern star emptiness coverd his whole beeing like a veil of nothingness where almost every existence is not aivailable exept north, coldness and an desire formed as he looks over the scenery filled with snow, ice and rocks as far as the eyes reaches only for him to realise all he always wanted was a home he could call his own. as the yearning, the long forgotten yearning became unbearable in a hurry he departed for his home, his old and warm house, the only home where he was happy. only for him to realise that it was empty eventhough there is a breath of warmth lingering in the air life has already vanished. the North has already taken in what was his one and only home, he became furious, and blinded by anger and axiety of having no place to call home as he started to throw around furniture, pictures and memories. but there was one thing he could touch but not harm, the piano of his long deceased mother he could not bid farewell too, the only thing she left behind with all her warmth and love. warming his old and hurt heart by the Piano, even though it is the north, no blizzard, no storm could have moved him away from the piano as he started to play and releases all the struggle, the pain, anxiety and anger up on keys while the bitter but warm sounds dance in the air. the veil wich ones covered his beeing stared to be filled with life . after coming to halt after releasing the keys slowly while the sounds slowly stop dancing, he knew north will always be within him but the warmth left by people dear to him will follow him where ever he takes his home along. a bittersweet feeling overcomes him as he left the house with his new found home, the Piano left by his dear mother and the never ending warmth as he goes back north with a slight smile on his face as spring falls in inside his entire beeig, withim his heart.
Struggle, struggle and struggle even more because hard work will always be paid of in on or another way is what this story means to me
anyways my english may such but I hope u liked it or " ich hoffe dir hat die Kurzgesichte gefallen."
peace out^^
Love the improvisation, I would name it: Kawai, Kawai, it will always be you and Ai. (yes, that's the best I could do)
For the improv I was thinking maybe you could call it "earthquake". This is because the build up represents the p and s waves (look that up lol) and then the arpeggios represent the aftermath/bigger waves and stuff. And the calmer part represents maybe fixing stuff? Idk I just thought of this.
3 legends of piano can vouch for this instrument, kyle landry, musicalbasics and myself (lol, worth a try) as we've all bought one recently.
Anyway, Lionel, a question to you directly if i may... Now you've tried the es920 for a while, how does it compare to your mp11se action? Do you find the es920 faster and easier to play on? I find the es920 action okay for a folded plastic action, but it feels odd and slippery i agree, the counterweights make a huge difference though in the es920, without them i think it would be an awful action. But overall it doesn't really feel anything like a piano, but it's amazingly fast as far as actions go, you can burn through the keys as they return so quickly once pressed...this allows a super fast smooth response. Anyway which you prefer action wise pray tell?
Yeah, so the action is definitely weird, the more I play it, the more I feel it's artificial. The MP11se has great action - probably one of the best. but the es920 action is very fast, almost too fast. I think if I were buying it again I *might* go for the P515, unfortunately the music store near me didn't have either.
@@MusicalBasics I literally just sold my p515 and have the Es920 on order , if it is anything like previous es8 action I’d be content lol but I’m no legend lol, the p515 action is similar to p155 but still with its own feel , but you can tell it’s related
@@MusicalBasics thanks for replying, appreciate it and i think you're good at these more personal videos showing yourself and character etc.. You should keep doing them as you come across well.
your cheeky comment earned a look at your channel. Gotta say I enjoyed your all I ask of you cover. Well done!
So p515>es920
You were infectious! £1500 sounded cheap, till I remembered, £700 was my personal budget! Food for thought! You're definitely inspirational! Thank you!
£700 is enough for a decent piano, but I definitely reccomend spending a bit more because as you can hear, a bit more expensive piano like this one sounds like heaven.
Awesome playing, 👏🏽, how about “Emotions”
This video is awesome!!
"A Bridge Too Far Over The River Kawai" is my suggested title for the improvisation. Or "Take It Easy on The Easy 9.20 Train"
yes...even through RUclips this sound looks like a realistic grand piano without distortions....good machine!
Ha when you asked how you should named your improvisation I immediately thought about next final fantasy game hehe . Great impro. Final fantasy is good name for this impro.
Thank you Lionel. Until you made this video, I never even considered buying a Kawai. I have always thought Yamaha was the keyboard of the gods. I am so enthralled by Van Clyburn's Polonaise, it is the last music I ever want to hear if I have time for a final request. You should try to top his version.
Love the channel
Lovely!! Beautiful improve piece...name...."The Edge of Winter"
Good video. I don't need a portable, so I got the KDP75. Amazing quality instrument.
I'd call it Victory, for the struggle, bittersweet moments and hard-won battles. So beautiful! 🎶💥😎
Holy mackerel! It's my new theme song! Wow... 💕💜💙🥂🍾😎
Great to hear from a player as well as sellers , thanks . Too slippery fast keyboard .. is interesting, ta
Name that composition? ‘Hollywood Beckons’
that is so awesome... I love it!!! such passion.. Its a herd of wild mustangs..
Just wow! that impro is movie level, should you call it "Bridge to unavoidable destiny" something, I think anyone can imaginate a happy and sour tragedy story with that one.
Been a Yamaha guy but gonna look into this Kawai thing, thanks.
“This That Shall Not Be Named”, because if played again, it’s not an improvisation, which, by the way, was fantastic!
A 'thumbs up' just for your excitement and enthusiasm!
Your improvisation music was spellbinding!
Love your music tastes. Nice keyboard need your skills to get composition to happen
Craaazy vibes my guy👏👏👏 the Mozart of the 21st Century. By the way if I may ask for how long do you play piano ?
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen. I think you should call your improvisation “Learning the piano: Day1” 😂
You are just so good. I wish I could play like you :(
Nice improv. maybe a name suggestion: "Unknown expectations awaiting" Cheers!
Your music is SO EMOTIONALLY ALIVE!
A name meaning heartbreak. A Nightmare Named Love. It was beautiful. I felt such pain but couldn't stop listening
My gut reaction is to call it “the soldier” it draws you in with some great sounds but as the tone of the song saddens it’s as their life goes on, they lose loved ones they get called back even though they don’t want to be they are dragged back to fight and they keep fighting for the sake of their loved ones who turn against them in the end because they either didn’t spend enough time with them or didn’t spend enough time at war and they experience ptsd and they get old and they finally experience the peace of death in the end.
Looking at the same model Kawai. It does sound nice. As do the E.piano and draw bar organ sounds.
Ode to Kawai? Amazing!
I actually just bought the Kawai ES520 this weekend and I really like it so far! I went in wanting to get the Kawai KDP 120 but liked the touch action of the ES520 better. I even liked it better than the 920 but both are honestly great!
I have the ES520 as well, and it's amazing!
Me too! Just purchased Kawai ES-520 love it. I'm no pro but this keyboard fills the bill for me. Mine is set into a 5ft Keyhole brand baby grand piano shell, it plays and looks great!!!
"The Prophecy" seems pretty fitting for the improv. One main goal, so many troubles, losses, victories....
This is an absolutely underrated video!!! When I heard the first few seconds of the improvisation, I almost fainted! I loved it.
I hope you remembered this pieces and play them again.
Yay, thank you!
Sound is very full with good highs and lows in my opinion.
You can call it "Adoring my new piano". Very passionate.
Nearly 1 million subs!!
You are amazing pianist more than professional 👍😇
,.,., 36,094-5d
Seeing you reviewing a keyboard is so much more than a normal review, from the descriptions you use to the pieces you play on it. Definitely never seen someone test a keyboard with Etude Op. 10 No. 4.
Keep it up Lionel, much love.
I would love to hear Carl Ort on that piano. You know the one: O Fortuna. All good wishes.
holy cable management batman! oh, nice piano too lol
Congratulations 👌
