    I pulled my new 7610 out of the box Friday to use it for ARRL Field Day 2021, instead of using my TS-940S. I was absolutely blown away by the performance of this receiver. Going from Kenwood to Icom and superhet to SDR was a challenge, but watching this video before the contest helped me tremendously. Thanks.

    Ray, Tommy, and George; Thanks for this video. It really is worth the time to sit back and watch. I bought IC-7610 at Hamvention 2019. I only work CW and was pretty disappointed to see my brand new rig had such a narrow CW bandwidth. 1.2 khz sounds terribly pinched up and the manual led me to think that was the maximum CW bandwidth. Googling around led me here. At around 26 minutes you began talking about adjusting the filter and the light came on! I can set my Filter 1 to be up to 3.6 khz if I desire. An OMG moment!! I now have it set to 2.4 khz and filter 2 is set to 1.2 khz. Not sure what I'll need in a contest but for every day use Filter 1 is set at 2.4 khz. Sounds great to me and I can quit thinking about trading for a Flex or something else. Your time invested in this video is greatly appreciated. It really helped me out! 73

    This was a very informative review. Nice to have someone like Ray who is knowledgeable with the rig explaining the features. It was nice to see a review that went into depth rather than a 5-10 minute superficial you tube review by a user.

    Thanks to Ray, Tommy and George. That was a most informative and enjoyable video. I could have watched this for much longer and will more than likely watch it again. Takes me back years ago on learning the ins and outs of the Racal RA17 reciever for my job at that time.

    I'd be interested to know why the 7610 seems to be unusable with AGC off.... unlike the 7300 which seems to be fine with AGC off. This anomaly compromises FT8 operation somewhat on the IC-7610. I wonder whether it is a fault in the design or set-up procedure of the 7610; seems to me that that the gain- distribution is wrong somewhere...

    It was sad to hear Ray say there are no plans to support external touch screen displays. I love having the RC-28 on the right; the radio on the left facing East, and monitors facing South in front of me working digital. If I could only have a 10 inch external touch screen display; that would be sweet. Love this upgrade from the 7300. Thanks guys!

    Guys, I owned a Yaesu FTDX-101d radio for 1 1/2 years and even though it has a great receiver, I was never 100% happy with it for several reasons. When you spend $3400 for a HF radio, you should be has happy as you can be! So, I sold it at the end of June 2022 (for a very good price since all used gear is higher these days) I immediately ordered an IC-7610 on July 3rd. HRO was out of stock and I had to wait (in purgatory as I called it!) two months for Icom to restock! I AM 100% happy with my IC-7610 HF radio!

    • @garylucas6511
      @garylucas6511 Год назад

      @@clipperprospecting8445 No, I am happy with the 7610! Made a typo and did not mean to say 'not'. I like the performance of the FTDX-101and it is a great design cosmetically but, the Icom has features that I prefer over 101. I could list them but, not not want to get into a debate with anyone that disagrees.

    Re the IC-7600: I think Ray is incorrect to say that the tuning-range, of the sub-receiver, is limited by the roofing filter; the roofing filters are in the IF, not the RF front-end. The sub RX is limited by the wide RF filters in the front-end; depending on which band you are on, sometimes i think these filters cover two adjacent ham bands....

    How loud is the T/R relay on the Icom 7610 radio? I used to use a Kenwood TS-940 using AMTOR ARQ and full break-in CW decades ago. The T/R relay is very quiet in the Kenwood TS-940. I have also used a Kenwood TS-430, and the T/R relay is very loud, so using AMTOR ARQ and full break in CW would not be acceptable with the loud T/R relay. How loud is the T/R relay in the Icom 7610 radio?

    To Ray, George and Tommy - What a great review of the 7610! Thanks so much for producing this RUclips. I have a 7610 and of course I'm very impressed with its performance. However, I have one question you might be able to answer for me.
    On the filter button (next to APF/TPF) - I noticed there appears to be light on this button but I have yet to see it illuminate. Is there a feature that turns this light on? Haven't found any mention in the documentation nor your review. I hope I haven't missed anything obvious.

    Remote operation from any place in the world? Not quite that easy, it does not have a built in VPN which you need. Flex has that feature built in and the best remote feature of any radio out there.

    One quick question, if I may. Will the LAN port on the rear of the radio accept a wireless remote device so I do not have to hardwire my WiFi network to the radio? My WiFi router is light years away from my shack. All my other devices work fine in the shack wirelessly. I shudder to think of how long my LAN cable will have to be and how many walls I will have to route through to get a hard cable to the radio.

    Hello! I'm very happy with my Icom IC-7610, I sold my IC7300 but ... I realized that in the IC-7610 they didn't add SWR control like the one IC-7300 has, then the operating frequency limit is lower to the IC-7300 Which reaches up to 70,000 MHz. Y?

    You should have given it 200+watts. It's a shame that a nice radio like this will only do 100 watts. How come Kenwood is the only mfr that makes a 200 watt radio for under $3000

    This video is not a review. It is an information video that shows the features of the IC-7610 with the assistance of an ICOM rep. As such I would suggest changing the title, as it is misleading.

    • @stephenmitchell3
      @stephenmitchell3 5 лет назад +2

      Because the 7610 ISN'T two 7300s in one box. The 7300 uses a 12 bit processor on TX and a 14 bit on receive while the 7610 uses a 14 and 16 bit respectively. The 7610 also has a digi-select on 160, 80 and 40M...the 7300 does not. They may be similar but the 7610's specifications are better.

  • @Leeman...

    Good riddance, Icom. I cancelled my order for a new 7610 when I found out you no longer produce radios with an RF gain. Adding a variable attenuator which *DOES NOT FUNCTION SIMILARLY TO A TRUE RF GAIN* is disingenuous and blatant misrepresentation.
    - Though I have always been an icom man, you have lost me and instead I just bought a Yaesu FTdx-5000 which *_DOES_* have a true RF gain.
    So long
