The 7610 Screen is so sharp pure joy to use I also have the Yaesu 101 but prefer 7610.

Lovely radio but will stick with my 7300 for the time being. Would love to upgrade but can’t really justify the expensive at the moment

Im in the same boat. I just wish they had a video output for an external screen.

    I have a DX10 but thinking of a 7610 as well or a 101D.

ft-dx101d, ic-7610 -- you cannot really go wrong with a radio at that level.

Thanks for this discussion, guys. The 7610 seems like a great radio.... I will probably look for one (used) when I retire..... Would love to do space- or polarisation-diversity RX using the two receivers. The only caveat is that there seems to be a gain-distribution problem, which rears its head when AGC is off. There are several scenarios where AGC off should be an advantage - including FT8 for much of the time - but the 7610 can't cope with it. Several folk have raised this with Icom, but I am not aware of any response or cure. (I haven't yet watched the whole video, so apologies if you covered this issue already!) 73! Tim

I've had the 761 0for 5years and it rocks so I bought the 705 and remote software the 7610 I use for ssh and I bought ftdx10 just for ft8 it works well for that I also got rid of kx3 for lab559 discovery tx500 for camping trips ,I run qrp on all radios its more of a fix for me than qro

The 7300 is the exact same on 16:20 - the tone is different on "VFO B"
36:30 - I use flrig to solve this problem, but wfview would also work. Give the cat control program the serial port, and force all other programs to talk through flrig/wfview

You might try saying that you can monitor two bands at ounce plus you can compare different Antennas to each other in real time! I have a Flex 6400M and on that radio you can not use two different antennas at the same time it will only sample Bands A & B from one Antenna unlike the 7610 which can do both and having that ability can give you a great advantage! Plus HAM radios typically hold there value over time unlike most electronics! Plus you can easily use the radio remotely as the hardware is built in. You could also control the radio with an iPad or iPhone remotely with the SDR Control for Icom!

Have enough radio "black boxes" where she can't tell what the difference is between the new one and the old one.

Input DC Bias - the 705 has an OFF but it's not OFF, it's just reduced from 8v to 3.3 V - for what reason? I've never understood the application of that. Does the 7610 really turn it OFF? or just turn the voltage down?

great stream. I have the 7300 and the clock never kept good time now it doesn't when turn it off. I know it's the little battery . but I usually have the USB into my laptop . so I found a program to set that clock from pc clock either over internet or GPS like BktTimeSync which I use to set pc clock then a program sets 7300 clock. works great for me. FT8 and JS8 call and outher digital modes just fine with no internet . I run portable and not all ways have internet . just send logs at a latter time when internet like POTA . 73's

Yeah most of the time the clock doesn’t really need to be set on the 7300.. but I guess it can be a pain to have to swap out that battery. It’s supposed to last at least a year without being charged - it does make me wonder how the radios that sit in the shop in the boxes keep that battery from discharging

Sincere question: What are your opinions on a new 7610 vs a used 7600 at 1/3 the price?

    • @HamRadioDX
      @HamRadioDX  3 месяца назад +1

I've never used a 7600 before, although the 7600 is twice? as old as the 7610.

Would be nice if the band stacking remembered the scope span setting as well as filter, frequency and mode…. Seems so simple and obvious… this also applies to memories..

The IC 7300 and the IC 705 are perfect stable mates. Yaesu menu structure absolutely sucks.

@@johnratcliffe6438I’m not saying you are wrong, but I normally run IC-706 MKIIG and IC-703+ at parks. The IC-7600 is what I run at home on the same portable antennae, which is not SDR, so I don’t have any 7610 time. This being said, the IC-7600 is a much better rig than the IC-7300 when I’ve used them side by side at field day. IC -7610 is surely better. The next SDR on the books will surely hit the current design’s shortcomings.

Yaesu just implements selectivity features better. My DX10 is simply better than the 7300 and even the 7610 but my 7300 is a fun rig and better for AM shortwave and field operations on a better. Less draw on receive
