  • The video shows Bob McCreadie (G0FGX) of TX Films interviewing Bob Rogers (M0KKW) HF Engineer of Icom UK about the IC-7610 SDR HF Transceiver that initially gets described in the interview as the ‘IC-7300 on steroids’.
This video gives an overview of the differences between the IC-7610 and the IC-7300 and an explanation of some of its new features including the two identical receivers, external display and DIGI-SEL for Main and Sub Bands.

Looks like an awesome machine, I am currently working with a ID5100 in my Jeep and need a radio to install in the off grid cabin for emergency contacts and what not, and I can see getting another mobile for my truck and one for the house. I am so happy with my ID 5100. Keep up the fun videos guys and have a blessed week.

The big brother to the IC-7300, a fantastic and enjoyable experience in HF communications is the ic-7610. The signal to noise ratio plus in conjuction with the super noise reduction is phenomenol.

Thank you gentleman. An excellent presentation from the two Bobs! Still quite happy with my ICOM-7300. However, I can see myself upgrading to the ICOM-7610 in the not too distant future. Do I need it - no. Do I want it - yes. 73. Ken K1KRK

The digi-sel doesn't help with in-band signal rejection at all, I believe it is designed to reject close out of band signals; it also can't be used with the preamps or on 50MHz.

The IP+ and IP- are not an intercept point control - Icom does not have intercept point buttons like Yaesu. The IP refers to "Dither" which is a noise reduction method for SDR's - it injects random noise that is later subtracted. IP+ is Dither ON and IP- is Dither Off.

All the CB'ers want this radio just to sit on CB 19 and 27.555 USB.... They will have to get a job first. Nice radio, but should have 200W output at the price.

i went from a 7300 to a 7610 and back to a 7300. the 7610 is a great radio. I had a screen issue and other little niggles with it. so i went ack to a 7300 and its just has good in my opinion. it does what i want and i think you cant beat a 7300 for the money. well done icom. just need a higher powered 705 now.
