    Tim K3LR is a great operator and modeled A-1 operating procedures for any ham to model. The radio looks very FB also.

    "Lusting" is about the right word to describe "muh feels" when looking at this radio. And considering the price tag, the buyer's remorse has got to be exquisitely painful too. You gotta love this hobby.

      Hey Randy, Love your channel. I've learned so much about Ham Radio from you. I just wanted to pop in and say that the last 2 or 3 times I have been to DXE I have tuned around with this rig, and it always sounds amazing. More the reason for me to upgrade from a technician ticket. So I can buy a nice HF radio and get chewing. To you and the N8DXE group, 73's DE KD8RWX.

    Hi Tim,
    Caught part of this QSO from Jim's channel. His KX3's audio, as heard on the IC-7610, is superb. Nice setup for the emplyees. 73 WB3BJU

    Yup, this is going to be my next purchase upgrade, looking forward to having a radio that is less than 10 years old,(hihi) however I cant complain with my Yaesu 920, she has been a great radio. Thanks for the demo, I will be calling you soon...(hopefully) ;-) 73 from NQ0A.... BTW, this should be a great match with my DXE Hex Beam...and other antennas of course.

    This radio is very capable, and worth the money. However, when the 7300 cam out I was close to buying it, but experience clicked in and I waited and purchased the radio for 1k new, with rebates and Christmas specials. And with a free Heli mike and cable. Can’t beat patience. So I have a radio with a much higher hardware model and because of time, the software is much more mature. I’m planning the same thing with the 7610, by the time I have it the bugs will be normalized and it will be $2900 or less guaranteed.

    I notice the scope freezing when you transmit and my 7300 doesn't do that. So is this the way the scope om the 7610 operates or that just a setting that could make it live both transmit and receive ?

    • @DXEngineering
      @DXEngineering  5 лет назад +1

      The 7610 is an SDR radio and has it's software internal. Updates (as they are released by ICOM) are installed by the customer using either a thumb drive or SD card.

    I don't see why anyone would want a radio that you must touch the screen? Much better having a button or knob so the adjustment can be done with them.When those screens need replacing or something on that screen stops functioning it will be a very costly repair & one most can not do themselves.Appears the companies are baiting people into this crap & they will need new gear because of repair cost or lack of parts down the road.It's a FACT that when they stop making any radio withing 5 years they also stop supporting them & you must seek repairs from someone other than them.No matter the company they all do it.Those bells & whistles will be become Nightmares down the road & the companies won't care after they have your money in their bank accounts.Only a complete fool would thing this crap will keep working for very long with prolonged use.In a few years that screen will look really bad but the replacement cost will loo much worse if you can even find one then.The microphone looks like a PR-40 to me?

    • @TXLorenzo
      @TXLorenzo 6 лет назад

      If you don't want to touch the screen, just use CAT control with your computer if you are that paranoid. Touchscreen technology is pretty mature, millions of smart phones can't be too wrong.

    • @1OFGODSOWN
      @1OFGODSOWN 6 лет назад +1

      Most people don't own a Smart Phone or any cell phone for nearly as long as Amateur Radios stay in use so that boat don't really float since it has not been tested for that long of a period so YES they CAN be WRONG.I don't care for any form of rig control other than Buttons & Knobs for any transceiver I would ever own.I'm not into digital modes & I have never owned a cell phone.I hate all telephones for the most part I try & avoid them when at all possible.Never saw why people think they are so needed other than most who ow them have No Life without one & it makes them feel Important? I have managed 57 years without the need for a cell phone & I think I'll make it the rest of the way without one as well just like a transceiver that requires touching the screen so it will operate I'm NOT in the need or want of any at any price even FREE.If someone offers me a FREE one maybe you can take them up on it & be happy & I'll be happy for you & me. {:>)

    • @TXLorenzo
      @TXLorenzo 6 лет назад

      You might try a string and a tin can. I hear its even more reliable than tube radios, just kidding. Just because you personally don't like newer technology does not invalidate its usefulness. Yes, digital technology lends itself to shorter life spans primarily due to its rapid development cycle. The current crop of SDRs are quite remarkable for their small size, low power consumption and performance and they are the future, like it or not. There will always be those who want to play with older equipment and there are some advantages, such as fixability, ect..., if you can find the parts that is. I really enjoy my 30 year old CRT Tektronix oscilliscope, but if I have to go somewhere portable, I will be carrying my digital Rigol instead. There is a place for both. You just need to know where the best application is. 73s

      10FGODSOWN isn't that far from being wrong about modern electronics. Most of it (maybe all?) is designed to be thrown away instead of repaired or maintained. I'm not sure if that is the price we must pay for the complexity and scope this type of equipment has - it does pack a lot of umph in a single box - but these newer gadgets and boat anchors won't be around anywhere near as long as the "old gear" was.
