- I decided to go ahead and try and external monitor even though I find the display on the radio is great.

Jack. Enjoying every veido you put out on the 7610. I’m learning more secret’s about my 7610. And makes my operating so much easier. Best Rigs I have had was the 7600 and now it’s thr ic 7610. Thanks Jack. Augie W1LJD
I purchased two weeks ago a brand new IC7610 and next day I also purchased a 27 inches monitor with a DVI24 to HDMI cable as well. The installation was very easy as you said, its kinda plug and play and for me its very need due to my age (75) and suffering of catarats my vision is not good anymore so having a big monitor is a blessing for my aged sight. I agree that the mouse function is useless for only moving freq when it should be used to touch the display anywhere. Thanks for your excellent video.
Reasonable assessment of the value of having an external touch screen monitor on the 7610. I know it has a bigger screen than the 7300 but for those who are visually challenged and wanted to have control of the radio from an external monitor, that feature was not delivered. Same thing goes for the mouse and it being limited to scope features only. I hope ICOM will change this in future firmware releases. Thanks for the video.
I saw a tip for two spectrum scopes, 2 bar meters and audio screen with two windows.....lol all that looks better on a monitor display. Lots of cool options.
Some people are just never happy. Second monitor looks great.
It does seem odd that Icom didn't give more mouse functionality with an external monitor. Hopefully they'll fix it with a firmware release. The big display does like nice though. Thanks again... really enjoy your videos. Cheers!
As an IC-7600 owner, the only difference between it and the IC-7610 in this regard is that you can connect an external monitor. The mouse functions are exactly the same.
Nice video that shows the monitor is well worth it. Rich - W2FKN
Tnx
Please send me a photo or video of this cable or converter to find out how the external monitor should be connected.
With regard to the mouse, perhaps Icom was thinking they needed to get the radio to market and that this would be an addable feature.
icom said they WILL NOT support a external touch screen monitor
7610 have the audio scope on the screen if so can you show that sometime thanks
For big external monitor should be voice control else what is it all for?
I have a lot of interference when I switch on the external screen, especially at 15 meters I have a hum that goes up and down in pitch .. really very annoying ... what can I do about it? someone who knows? it is a new 27 inch screen from Philips. now i am using an adapter plug from DVI to HDMI, would it be there? pity I can't use the external screen.
Is that a touch screen monitor and if it is can you touch it to maneuver around I guess I don't know
DVI to HDMI Cable wonder if it would work to a tv
I love watching Forest Gump on my KW TS-990!
Jack you've hit the nail on the head as to why we've never made it a priority to demonstrate this feature. There is only so much room in the shack, after all. Understand that for other hams its a big deal due to eyesight, so I am glad they included that feature.
Hello there my friend thank you very much for the information on this new radio...now my question. Is how big of an external monitor can we use on this particular model...i have a ic 7300 but planning to buy a 7610 ..tnx N5MAR. 73s
Strange how people have gotten so messed up these days, this guy couldn't even bother to answer your question or even acknowledge it.
UNCONSCIOUS PEOPLE 😁
Yes why make videos if you’re not going to acknowledge those who watch them. Sad
they want you to buy their software (rs-ba1) to control the rig.
What’s the cable I need thank you KC1JQX
Hello, is it possible for you to guide me what kind of cable should I use to connect the ICOM 7610 to an external display ???
It’s a standard DVI to DVI video cable.
nice radio wow isnt your floor noise level low you lucky guy
I honestly dont know why they didn't just go with an hdmi port and make it 1080p no need for 4k. Also not sure why the mouse issue either its like they did it half a$$ on purpose for some reason.??????? Craziness.
wood be nice if you wood tell use what you are doing, But will it work on 12 vdc
Yes on 12V, well 13.8VDC would be more correct. Thanks for the comment James.
Thanks for your answer
Lmao I mean jeeze for the money no hdmi connector,1080p or 144* it’s 2024 ppl🤘
Icom create their own strategy for tranceiver upgrades. The 7620 will have a bit more usability and so on. They already know what is missing on the devices they release on the public. It seems like they think we are lemons to squeeze. Also their spectrum monitors are almost unusable due to the lack of detail. Bad color choice, wrong dynamic range etc. Also the coarse sensivity setting is very bad. I use the waterfall for detecting signals with my SDReceivers. Icom does makes this into a unusable cosmetic feature to boost sales. Take look @ SDR-console v3 software from Simon Brown to see what I mean.
Needs to be more Flexible. Oops. Did I just say that?
What is the attraction to external monitors the size of a big screen TV? Is it the small thing in the shorts complex all over again? Anyone who can't see the screen on the 7600, 7610, 7800,7700,7850,& 7851 needs glasses not a huge display.
