The battery you have to hold clock on is rechacheable. But many hams are turning their power off when they shut down theyr radios. Then the battery will not charge up. The charge of this battery takes a long time, but it will hold on if you not turn off your power supply. I had the same problem with my 7300. But if I did not turn off my power supply, it hold! The best to you Paul from LB1NH. 🙂
On the 7610 you ca use the ntp function which will automatically update the time if the battery fails, you need to have it hooked up to the internet via the LAN port for it to work though.
Your rig is pretty clean for 5 years. I've had mine since Oct 2018 and I'm pretty sure there is a pile of dirt in mine. I can dust but I'm in farm country and the dust just comes back in minutes.
Hi, very impressed with the build quality of the 7610. Good quality speaker to. They could of made a better job with the clock battery. Shame you have to do a modification on it. All the best David M0DUU
Ahoj! Good job! I've had my 7610 lose the time, and Icom support suggested leaving the power supply on for two weeks. Not a great solution. Not sure why they didn't have a user-replaceable battery design to begin with. 73
Awesome job! Such a weird design choice from icom tho, I'm getting someone to do something similar on my IC7100 I'm not good enough to do this. But if they know that this battery has a lifetime, make it easily replaceable right? oh well...
Neat! Now this expensive beast is officially modified. My Kenwood TS440S after 40 years still has a perfect backup battery!
Thank you for this excellent video, I'm going to do the same on my IC-7300. This is how it should have been built from the start.

Thanks Paul ...very nice
Love your videos Paul.
Nice Job Paul.. I will have to do the same to mine.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Question: Can a DL2032 be used and delete the shottky diode?
Great video quality!

Great stuff 👏🏽tnx for sharing 👍🏽Great Dx 73 🎙Ira
Well done paul, not a job I would do.
Nice professional job..☺️
Bonjour pour se partage,j'ai réalisé la même opération avec succès, 73’s
any idear how long the replacement battery wil last ?
Would that be an SBR depreciation shock absorber rubber mat?
I am looking for such an item for my own radio shack work bench.
Hi Paul. Pardon my ignorance. What's the Schotky diode for? Avoid reverse polarity? 73 de OA4CKN
Yes exactly. New battery is not chargable.
@@OM0ET, I just ordered a Lir2032, Li rechargeable to replace the tiny original one. Let's see how it goes.
Interesting video.. I think it will be useful for my IC7300.

I wish icom just made the batteries easily replaceable, my 7300 is the same.
All of Icom radios (7300, 7100, 9700, IC-R8600) have the same issue.
Are you sure it was a battery? I used supercapacitors in a case like that for my watch. I think that's exactly what it was.
Battery origine ML2032 -> Lithium manganese dioxide rechargeable battery 65 mAh
@@diabolo3506 ok? sorry
What were ICOM thinking of with those tiny little cells? Thw IC-7300 is just as stupid.
Um radio desse valor e dessa categoria era pra nós estarmos fazendo adaptações dentro ? ridiculo a Icom e sua bateria fazerem isso
IC-7100, IC-7300, IC-8700, IC-7610. ICOM learning curve is quite long...
8700 ? do you mean the 7800 maybe ?
ASMR ham radio lol
