- Holy Moly! This is my new favorite HF radio. Probably more advanced than I can comprehend. Part 1 of several... HF and 6 meters, dual independent receivers, USB, external screen connection, Keyboard and mouse, exceptional performance receivers, the list goes on. Check it out.
Thanks to GigaParts.com for letting me borrow this to bring you some videos. And then, I'll put it next to this FTDX101D and let you decide.

Have had my 7610 for two weeks now. It is an amazing machine. Your excitement is warranted
My 7610 will be here tomorrow. Black Friday, I couldn’t resist. I’m a new ham and this is my first HF I was gonna go 991a but the discounts were to good.
Eric after being off the air for 16 years I decided to get active again. I was always partial to Icom and I watched your review of the 7610 and I was impressed. The box came yesterday just in time to be Isolated by our IL Governor. Icom should make you a product manager in the US. Having fun learning this wonderful instrument while stuck at home listening to 20 meters. 73’
You just love to make me drool over a radio. Love this one. Great job as always!
I have a Brand New ICOM -7610 sitting on my dining room table. The plastic is still on the screen. I have NOT powered it up yet. My new antenna is going up today. I am a BIG FAN of Ham Radio Concepts, and YOU Eric! I am looking forward to more videos on the ICOM -7610. Thank you!
How you liking your 7610?
@@radioman6489 I am really enjoying my IC-7610. No problems, No complaints.
@@RCB757 I'm thinking about buying one
Your videos are good mate, you go into detail The details people are actually interested in.also easy to understand.
That might be the best intro to an instructional video ever! Sounds just like me and my wife lol. Priceless.
Absolutely love mine. Great radio!! Just made a contact in Isreal with mine. Tons of DX barefoot with a 30ft vertical. Enjoy that bad boy!! Will be hard to give back. The two receievers will spoil you. 73
Sometimes I really hate your videos! 😜
I just bought an Icom IC-7300 at Huntsville Hamfest where, by the way, a kid that couldn’t have been older than 10 or 12 years old, won an Icom 7610!
Now I want a 7610! LOL!
Of course the price difference between the two radios is almost $2000, so that makes it cost prohibitive, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to have radio envy.
I hope you know the comment about hating your videos is tongue and cheek. I love your work. I hope you get back to building the Autonomous Satellite Tracker soon! Hint hint. 😁
Ok, I'm definately a Icom guy with a 740, 7200 and 7300 and of course, want the 7610. However, if the antenna system can't hear a DX signal, no receiver will pull it out. Atmospheric band noise also changes with the wind and is sometimes very difficult to overcome regardless of the receiver.
Right now, the 7610 does appear to be the answer to the limitations of the 7300. Let's not forget the transceiver is the interface to everything else in the signal chain.
All that said, I still want the IC 7610 ( - :
Mind blown.. Waiting on my first HT to ship and studying for testing
Fixed by a simple adapter :)
The memory feature is for net frequencies.
And guess what, Eric? This ended up being the transceiver that I selected. I have already made a couple dozen contacts with my 7610, and am already looking forward to making dozens more.

You my friend sound like a kid at Christmas!!!! lmaoooo
I laughed my ass off when you smacked your wife's hand trying to peel the protective plastic off the screen!
Wish you were my Elmer!
I can't wait to see you transmit with this!!
Thanks Eric, another great review for an instant classic of a radio! Wow! Wow!! WOW!!!
When you review the external display; see if you can use a huge (say 50 inch) screen & display different info on radio than on the external... i.e. huge waterfall on big screen with "controls" on radio (w/no waterfall... basically viewing everything at once without needing to switch display modes... heehee; imagine that on a 75-85" big screen... again, wow!
Thanks again for the great vids & reviews

First! I played with one at New Hampshire hro great radio.
Hey Eric ayon 7300 I'm planning on picking up a 9700 in the not too far distant future and hopefully by next year this time I should have the 7610 with all of the matching pieces accessories I am in love with that radio that is a cool radio
Hi, thanks for the nice video! Do you know whether the auto-notch is within the AGC loop? 74, Tim
More radio than I need......
Someday I would love to have a radio with a waterfall like this.
Large display, dual receiver, big size for old man eyes!
Mike N6IMY
My friend has one of these. I haven't seen it working, but THIS IS AMAZING! 73 de KE0STO
I had mine 2 weeks. The display was much worse than my IC7700. It looks like there was the old CRT convergence issue. Wobbly knobs. Just not the quality that the 7700 exudes. It was the radio I waited for for 2 years & was disappointed.
The FTDX-101 is the latest hotness, especially after the Shewood said that it's the best radio he has ever tested.
Got the 7300 and not fully utilized all features yet and still playing with what I want to do for a decent antenna system which IMO will make all the difference regardless which radio you use. Maybe 7610 later when I become all in on the hobby.
The problem with the DVI port is that new monitors no longer have that port on them.
I would like to see a video on setting up repeaters and seting up tones then saving it all to a memory channel On the Icom 7610
Eric if you had to choose between this rig and the FTDX-101D which would you choose? I have a Icom 7300 and I'm thinking of upgrading to one of those two units.
Hands down the 7610, it's my most wanted radio
Beautiful , thank You !
wish I had the money to buy one. Icom if you're listening Ill take one for free if you want to give one away LOL. Ive tried winning and never win anything. Great video and great radio. Thanks for sharing. Im jealous I know you will be using this for many years as it will be hard to beat.
I've had 2. One I bought in October of 2018, and another I won from Gigaparts in January. Great radio, but I had to send it in to Icom for a screen burn in/washout issue.
Sorry you had an issue with the display.
@@MrN9ja ICOM handled it, I just hope they worked out the issue and it doesn't happen again. There is a thread on QRZ that documents my experience and others too.
I just sent mine in also for the same burn-in reason. Otherwise, I really like the rig. I hope the new display is from a different vendor.
"Get your hand off there," he says. "I wanted to do that," she says. "Tough" he says. I hope you like sleeping on the couch!
Keep the radio by the couch.
Nice piece of equipment. Love it
Great resolution between signals your saying, the ability to say.. gate out un wanted signals .
This guy reminds me of the enthusiastic scientist in Pacific Rim who was trying to communicate with the Kaiju...he's voice is identical!!!
Top of the day, everyone. Just use your dual pedal as a straight keyer. Instead of holding them, just bump the dash paddle and bump the dot paddle . Each paddle will still make its own tone... I use mine all the time like that on my 7300. With no problem, be safe. Everyone, god bless. 73
Keep up the great work.
Wow that was halarious. I wanted to do that.... tough!!!!!
I heard you say that the BNC antenna connectors are used for I/Q. It is my understanding that is incorrect. I believe the I/Q comes out of the blue USB port. Maybe you mention this in one of your other videos that I haven't seen yet.
What can ICOM answer as the solution to the ic 7610 screen problem ?? Has this already been resolved on the production line ??
I want it but I'm not spending that kind of money on a starter radio. Do you know/recommend a mobile with a scope under $500
Still on the fence between this or the FTdx-101D.
It's like this....
Do you want the world's top rated receiver sensitivity (DX101) OR do you want the nicest display and menu structure you ever seen (ic7610) with a VERY Good receiver???
My choose will ALWAYS be the 7610, with that display and menu structure..... Easy to operate. Dx101 is not as easy to figure out, and the rob Sherwood report of the worlds top rated most sensitive receiver doesn't pursuade me...
Both are phenomenal..
I’d love to see you do a comparison between this and the Yaesu FTDX101D
@@traveller-nl Eric seemed really excited about the 7610. More so than when he had the Yaesu FTdx101D. Based on what I've seen, I will be going with the 101D over the 7610.
Eric... I have bought equipment based on your recommendation. And happy to do so. Please answer my questions on the MFJ or any cobweb antenna. Who narrow should the band be? 73
i dont think i understand the question..
@@HamRadioConcepts Wow, that was really poorly worded. Sorry. Let me try again. I'm trying to tune my MFJ-1838 Cobweb. I started by scanning the SWR using an MFJ-209C and external frequency counter. I found several minimums in the 2.5:1 range that appear to be close to the bands. For example, I found an SWR of 2.5 at 17.26MHz, which I'm assuming can be turned for 17M. However, if I adjust the MFJ-209C to say 17.3MHz, the SWR goes to >3 (to infinity). Is it normal for a Cobweb to be that narrow? I don't see anyway to get less than 3:1 over entire bands. The antenna is around 13' above ground. 73
So what's wrong with the RSPduo ? One of the best receivers on the planet. And a bit of a price difference.
To decode and send RTTY/PSK you have to change the mode of operation first, from SSB over to PSK or RTTY then press menu and you will see the decode icon. Now you can decode RTTY and PSK and also use pre selected memories to send data or plugin a usb keyboard and start typing!
ahhhhhh, i will try that, thank you
Lequel et le mieux transceiver le icom7610 ou le yaesu ft101d merci
Very nice.
When I pass my Extra exam, maybe. But I’ll stick with the 7300, for now.
Whatever happened to home made gear in a shed? I've been QRT for the last 10 years. I don't know what ham radio is now and don't have deep enough pockets :-/
That scope is low on sensitivity. What wrong with this radio. Is there a fix.
It has been almost 2 years since I got my 7300. I am trying to keep my love alive Eric, please don't do this... :-)
I bet this bad boy is already superceded...there's always a better model just around the corner...the manufacturers have us by the short and curlies....it's like a recipe for unhappiness. Being content with what you have is hard sometimes!!
Yaesu ftdx101 has a 123dB+ 2kHz RMDR, compared to 7610’s 110dB, and 7851’s 116ish. Things sure are getting interesting in the high end HF game...
I Hate the sound of a Yaesu Receiver.I’ll stick with my ICOM 7700 and ICOM 9100 on my desk and be very Happy.👍🎙
Cool Radio
I was at the HRO Store in Winter Springs,Florida yesterday and for the First and Last time I played around with the ICOM 7610.I have owned ICOM Radios for the last 25 years or more from the 706,746,746 PRO,756 PROII,7000, 7600,275H,271H,471H, 910H,9100,& 7700 & I found the design to be a terrible design.I hate the display and I would never consider having one on my desk at any cost.I can basically operate a 756 PROII, 7600,or 7700 blindfolded but I was 100 lost trying to figure out the 7610.I HATE touching the display screen on a radio and it’s pretty much impossible to operate that radio without doing so.There was a fellow there who owns one and he couldn’t even tell me how to remove the Waterfall from the display and just leave the band scope.I never used the waterfall on my 7600 & I don’t use it on my 7700.I find it very annoying and useless.I now know that I have Zero desire for a 7610.👎🏻
Is it weird how I can tell this is quality stuff without knowing what basically anything he's saying means? I'd love to learn, but it always seems so arcane.
Will it survive a EMP?
ok i want one how much are these running est??
8x the price of the Xiegu G90. 4x the cost of the 7300. Is it really 8x, 4x better than those radios?
How much do these radio's cost?
Instead of sending this rig back to GigaParts, you can send it to me! I will give you my address.😁
A/D board analog convert to digital nice.
how about a side by side audio / receiver test with the 7300??
I am disappointed that the 7610 does NOT support D-STAR.
ICOM should be putting D-STAR in ALL their radios.
Another WOW! series video! Lol
Just wish I could afford it haha
Dad. Can I have one!!
Send it to me in Galveston!
Dont see the point in this rig verses a 7300? Maybe a little better receive for dxers. As far as 2 so2's just buy an alpha delta switch for the 7300.. If you want dual receivers? Buy 2 7300's and still save money. Yes its purdy. But so is the 7300. Do I own a 7300? Yep. You guessed it. I got 2 of them. Its all in the antenna system one has that has a lot to do with it. Crap antenna.= Crap radio. More receive in a subdivision or a delvelopement means more noise picked up. If out in country somewhere it would be great. Save yourself $2200 and buy a 7300. Would I ever buy a 7610? Yea maybe? At this time not worth it for a few more bells and whistles. But it is a nice video!.
I can buy one no problem but I don't like spending large amounts of cash unless it's going to make me money back this is just pleasure thing. Lol.
What? No shout to your lovely assistant? Lol Man, this makes my IC-735 look lame. ROFL
My IC-740 very lame lol!
One Word, FLEXRADIO
Flex has more problems than Icom ever dreamed of having. Plus the price of a 6400m is not worth what you get.
Flex is garbage. Would never have one in my shack.
I got one last year beautiful radio. All those issues about screen burning are fake. Icom don't acknowledge them. Either that or first generation had a fault. I left screen protector on mine.
You admitted to touching its knobs in front of your wife??
And it's only $2995.95 plus tax and shipping............. Warranty..? Who knows............
@Outdoors Equipment Google it.... I fount it for triple the 7300 price after rebate...
About $4500 here in VE-land.
I would sell my car to get this.... But my car would not get enough to pay for it... Sad face.
naa not me
hummm
your opening statement...lost me completely and for good.
Here is a video on decoding rtty with the 6710. ruclips.net/video/vYz2stivUjI/видео.html :)
Husband hitting wife's hand...not good.
