Mrs Thatcher said: “In office, I read and analysed every speech of Lee. He had a way of penetrating the fog of propaganda and expressing with unique clarity the issues of our time and the way to tackle them. He was never wrong …”
Here in the Philippines, it is very opposite! If you want money, enter into politics..... Wish that someday, Philippines will have a great leader like Lee Kuan Yew. I truly admire him for making Singapore a successful country. RIP

I think there are many people with integrity like Mr. Lee Kuan Yew on this planet. However, they tend to be unsuccessful or not interested into politics. It is an amazing achievement of Singapore that they kept him in power for so long.
Say what you want but Mr. Lee Kuan Yew left a incredible legacy “ Singapore of today” and as for ethics he was above and beyond reproach. Can you image the countries around the world if they had the same high standards of Singapore how successful and prosperous they would be but instead have only war, corruption, poverty ,misery for their people etc etc
this is an old vid. nowadays our ministers are the highest paid in the country. ! mr lee himself said' if you want to get the best you pay them the best salaries.
For a small, nation state lacking in natural resources with a smaller margin for error, besides competence, integrity is imperative for public, business and investor trust in governance and ultimately for its survival, stability and prosperity.
LKY wanted Power. Lots of it. Craved it. Not money. He got the power he wanted and used it mostly well. Being powerful is much more than having money. Everything is done for you when you're in charge.
If LKY wanted power, he wouldn't have created Singapore (introduced Singapore's constitution) to be a constitutional Republic where his party would be threatened every 5 years. That just seems like plain sense. But it seems common sense is less common than most expect to be.
@@kutzewalters5530 There is no such thing as a solo 100m race. Everyone wants to compete and only one can be the winner. Are you saying LKY did not want to win the race that was already in place? Keep in mind PAP was an opposition that won. He obviously wanted power and he put it to good use - one of which is being democratic and fair. I did not say he craved power to be a dictator. Perhaps you should remind yourself about common sense and reading properly.
Singaporeans are blessed to have him. Many countries around the world wish to have the same leader like him.
Unfortunately he is no more. Left his son in charge😧
I want to go back to those times😢
Well some did but overthrew them based on lies and greed
Countries like North Korea and Kazakhstan?
Not just Singapore but the world is in a better place because of him

Maggie Thatcher also said the sane thing about Nehru, Mao, Kim and Mandela. You can't be that naive after centuries under the pommies?
One of the honest leader in this planet😀👍
Very honoured to be a Singaporean.

What you state is true...it is common for many asian govts.
Same like Malaysia, if you want money get into politics, if you want to become filthy rich get into UMNO.
Well same here in India too
Marcos will regain this country back to prosperity
Wow! What a leader!
It’s wonderful and inspiring to hear people speak of someone of their virtues and be happy about it.

The pass-away of this great man is like an extinction of a very rare species.
No leader will ever ever be like him anymore.

India: A very long sigh!
#sinchew
Ask him why his children are still fighting each other.
Karma have arrive for Lee's family.
I forget that he was ethnically Chinese 😂😂😂.
