As a Malaysian, it's a shame that Malaysia never got the chance to have this great man as a leader. It's a bloody disgrace that the Malay supremacist survive till this very day.
real disgrace. In such modern times, draconian beliefs still persist.
Agree wholeheartedly.
Agreed. Imagine what Malaysia could have become under his leadership with all the natural resources you all have.
But in Singapore....his draconian policies stlll persists as a police state...rich and prosperous no doubt but at what price. Only the expatriates are happy ... the real Singaporeans are suffering especially the old uneducated folks ... still going going around collecting old cardboards to eat...
Good ridden... as Amos Yee correctly put it .... fcuk you LKY! Where the boy now anyway?
Im Bruneian and I always look up to this man. 😭 I cried when he passed away because I didnt get the chance to meet him. RIP Lee Kuan Yew
If only Brunei has someone similar
-fellow Bruneian
I don’t think he want you to meet him. I think he prefer you to be a good person and contribute to your country and eventually the world. That’s more realistic and that’s what he will want
Lee Kuan Yew also played a major role in the formation of Malaysia.
Indeed. Lee was the one power broker for Sabah and Sarawak inclusion into Federal Malaysia. Then his dream of Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak be part of an equal for all Malaysians, regardless the race, religion and origin. But Tun Razak saw him a threat to Malay supremacist.

singapore is blessed to have a leader like him ...
One of the greatest leaders ever! He changed the destiny of his people and made his country amongst the most prosperous in the world. I will dear friends ask you to read 'From Third World to First' a history of the city state written by the great man himself.
A great book indeed!
Not greatest leaders..ask himself did u know race riot will be happen???
His speeches still give me goosebumps every time I watch it. Like him or hate him you respect his leadership and firmness. Can't help but wonder how he would have handled the covid situation if he was still around
Lee Kuan Yew is greatly admired in Korea.
I am from Mauritius and I have been reading about this person.... A great man! A great leader!
Our leaders have a lot to learn from him
I am from Mauritius too and I have stayed in Malaysia for quite some time as a student here. I can tell you Malaysia was wrong here as they had placed laws that gave a certain race more privilege over the other and this is why Lee kuan Yew was fighting.
And because of this, the then PM at that time decided to threw Singapore out as a punishment. Years later Singapore became the lion and Malaysia the sheep.
@@videvleo couldn't agree more... sa problem racisme la li dans Maurice aussi malheureusement mais li moins obvious.

Mr. LEE Kuan-Yew will be remembered as one of the world's greatest and most courageous leader!
I am a teenager but I am still grateful for what he did. I cried while watching this, he is my idol I really wanna be like him. Rip Singapore won't be Singapore without you😥. How I wish I met him before he pass
LKY legacy lives on, continue to study and work hard for the nation, this will be proof of his hard work in building the Singapore excellence.
Now see Singapore become great developed in all sectors.because this great man.
their strategic location.british is not idiot to choose Singapore as their base, port

@@fazrul78 great strategic location without wise management is nothing. Like Malaysia culture know how to build but don't know how to maintain things....
Here in 2023 as a 40 year old. This is after my time, but my parents tell me stories of it. I wish I lived through that time… living through challenging times with a tough but resolute leader must have been such an experience. Would love to hear his take of issues we face in modern times knowing what we know.
Can you imagine what could have been achieved if he led BOTH Malaysia and SG? Such a missed opportunity

Absolutely stunning to see Lee, one of the greatest leaders of the modern age, at his lowest moment.
When the tears come out from nostril, it is real.
LKY thought August 9, 1965, was going to be a 'moment of anguish' for him and his people (Singaporeans)
fast forward about 20~ yrs and until now, it's the Malaysian citizens that look back at August 9, 1965, as their moment of anguish

I'm not malaysian nor singapourean but imagine guys if these countries had no split what it would be today. you'd be a super powerfull nation.
Haha no, if you truly understand the reason of the split between them.
@@hdisappears9481 Just because they hate chinese, a weak reason imo
@@franco912 that and he spoke up against the "wrong" thing which could lead to the demise of a nation
@@hdisappears9481 Be straightforward what's the other reason ?
@@franco912 well imma delete this in a few hours coz its not unconstitutionally right for us to discuss it. But privileges for majority of malaysias races and that majority has got a privilege thing in disguise as their rights, which accounts for more than a quarter discounts in everything they spend and ease in getting different benefits in life including government university admissions with relatively lower results.(basically every aspect) Search up affirmative action and its the worst in Malaysia.
Reason why is it so dangerous in long term economic growth is because it's paid by our resources for free and taxes from other "people". Imagine being the minority and paying most of the taxes and country is hanging on the resources which probably trump everywhere in the world. We have all sorts of resources but we put our people last as compared to Singapore.
Resources +privileges(to hold big projects)= corruption and loopholes for more corruption. The reason why the split happened is the same as to how malaysia can never become developed.
They have their own matriculations and uni just to cater to the majority in the name of bridging the rac*al economic gaps since independence, but that basically gives away chances to "exploit resources", you know corrupt shit.
People become less eager to work for real, sinking deeper economically while investors in and outta country leave gradually. Brain drain is rampant because the economy doesnt grow enough leaving a gap between market demand for advanced jobs and "overly supplied" graduates.(cheap work for healthcare workers, etc.) More people, demoralised, regardless of their origins leave so thats why the new pm is our only hope of salvation,(tho i don't think theres saving it) to rid corruption .
Anyway you get the point and the solution is clear as day since the days of post independence povertyy has been over for good. Look up other topics if you decide to know more

This is Malaysia's biggest mistake. Look who is having the last laugh now.
Singapore should thank Tunku Abdul Rahman for being so ignorant to kicked the legendary Lee Kuan Yew out of Malaysia.
Is it true will singapore survive the next 100 years was true after releasing the Memoirs….how to look out for myself..all of which them will just avoid once u have nothing💝every taxi driver we’re trying to paint the truth of falsehood guess depends on the passenger who is listening..We are one big family in the World called Springfield ..my heart is being weakened by u know what…life goes on no matter 💝
In many places he went he did mention abt making difficult decision which will nvr be easy. Even nur Iqbal one of the commentators at the column mentioned abt me lky darkside. Now after 61 yrs since 1965 we can notice that spore still booming despite the ups and downs of the world economy. Malaysia truly shrinking into deeper economic dire straits. Tonnes of debts. Here in Malaysia we allow Malay to govern our country but by insisting on only the Malay right totally ignored the existence of others. Their right were totally ignored by that time pm mahathir becoz he wanted to help Malay come up in life. Only thing they nvr realized that at 21st century they cannot afford to totally spoonfed the Malay only they continued coz they were forced they don't want to.lose the Malay votes. It was truly the shrinking nation and divisive ppl in Malaysia. As they were exposed WTH the life in the hand of their father. You know one thing abt the pendatang like Chinese india punjabi had no choice strive harder workg very hard to put the meal on the table. They nvr get much ppl place in the university due to the quota system . They were left out. Fast when 2018 polling results bring them down also stubbornly refused to admit the lost. By allowing smart educated non Malu WTH the grasp of the spore govt who is willing to offer the pr and much better future in life. We lost huge number of great talent gone. Left WTH the lesser quality talent in the country. U can hate the Chinese most but do Malay realized without the Chinese existence in the Malaysia economy can the Malay survived . Malay can do food business contractor business. But real big business even without the help of the government who thrived. They nvr get the help the shopping factories bosses but they were pushed to give the Malay job first above other race. Aren't we ashamed. Mentioned abt stingy we must accept they come up in business through hardship but the Malay get the job thankful.
doesnt help to have Najib and his cronies ..some of whom are still around ....! in power .
What amazes me is he is able to speak his mind ..he is a leader.. not a politician.. Same problem in India.. Hindus want Indian India but Muslims want Muslim on top India..
We could have a Better and stronger Malaysia!!!!
I think Malaysia could have been a major Asian superpower had he been given a chance to lead Malaysia. But I am also aware of the realities on the ground that prevented that from happening.
Don't you worry, Singapore would surpass Malaysia in economic power in a couple of decades. Currently higher than USD27 Billion in 2021. Teached the bully right back!
A young lee really saw the good in people, he believed that people would be able to see through differences and come together. But the malay govt. proved him wrong.

I did not know the exact story. But why he regret sg to leave msia? That's the best thing that ever happen. If Sg didn't leave Malaysia, our Singapore dollar will not be 3 times of the ringgit. Hahaha
the promise that he gave to the people
prior to separation for a relatively short period Singapore was part of the Malaysia federation and LKY was concerned about non Malays in Malaysia (not just the Chinese) not having equal opportunity. He had raised hope for many living in Sabah / Sarawak / Penang etc that why Singapore was part of the federation that collectively they would get an equal voice. He knew once Singapore left the Federation that the hopes of many non Malay living in Malaysia would be severely set back.
