There is no logic or reason in such an attack just irrational hatred against anybody that remotely fits the description of an enemy.
Tell that to Israel
No, just irrational hatred against anybody more successful than him, who his religion told him to hate.
@@JibrhanKhan-lw2lk , Tell that to your mom.
Oh, and thanks for your condolences for the 1200 men, women, small children and infants who were murdered in their homes by Hamas. Really great role models for you, there.
It’s not irrational, it’s lawful according to all mainstream interpretations of Islamic law.
It’s 100% logical if you follow the Quran, Tafsirs and authentic Hadiths. It’s us who remain ignorant to how corrosive this ideology really is around the globe.
A man who tried to change the world..respect for you, a great man
Impressive man and thought provoking
Absolutely 💯 agree
I was introduced to Mr. Rushdie in an English lit. class, we read "Midnight's Children" and I was completely blown away. After that, I had to read "Satanic Verses" and was again blown away. Midway through the book I started over and only allowed myself one chapter a day to prolong the experience. One of my fave quotes, "What happens when you win? When your enemies are at your mercy: how will you act then? Compromise is the temptation of the weak; this is the test for the strong.”
The quote reflects beautifully the situation at hand.
As an Iranian, I must say that Salman Rushdie is just one of the valuable and wise people whose talent and art have been destroyed by religious idiots.

I think the Fatwa on Rushdie was the first time the average person in the west became aware of Islamic fundamentalism. It was certainly the first time I'd heard it.
A great man. Long live free speech.
He is a brilliant author. The amount of courage to forge ahead with his life and advocate for writers is tremendous.
This just makes me want to read more of his books!
I am so glad Sir Salman Rushdi is alive, healthy, awesome as always and kicking! ❤
It's good to see that the incident hasn't changed Rushdie's view.
So wonderful to see him again.
I am grateful that this hero of mine survived to tell what happened and can go on speaking, writing, express himself, making all the opponents of free speech powerless.
Salman is a phenomenal writer, and I gotta say, hes got fantastic, lucky taste in women! I salute him!
Salman Rushdie is a creative genius of our beloved world today !!!!.....😊
Your books are, and will always be, the most turbulent, beautifully exciting, challenging and deeply romantic stories that I will ever read. Thank you for your mind.
You should be proud of everything you've done! I'm so happy you have physically recovered. Never stop!
People are born to have the right to think for them selves. Rushdie is an amazing imtellect and gave us the truth in his book thank you sir !!!!!!
I hope Rushdie is with us for years to come, and I hope his attacker learns what an American prison is like for decades to come.
The man's an American so I don't think he was completely unaware of the American prison system.
My deepest gratitude for the immense contribution you've made to literature and for the courage you have shown in facing these devils. You are a remarkable person, and you hold a special place in my heart
Isn't it about time humanity moved on from these insane witchhunts? I could never imagine being so offended by something as benign as a 40 year-old fantasy novel. How do we prevent people from being fueled by these mad ideologies?
islam
The world has moved on, it’s just Islam that can’t get past the 6th century
Clearly you can start by answering your own question and learn about the religious ideology that is so offended by being questioned, that it is often roused to extreme violence to remedy the questioning.
If you have no idea about it, how can you possibly stop it ? and worse still, by your ignorance you find that IT finds it's way to your doorstep, and into your life in the most nefarious sense, leaving you completely unable to defend yourself or that you hold dear. That is going to be some peoples experience.
I would encourage you to learn, learn as much as you can about it. Because if you knew what I do, you would be a little more focussed on what's coming our way.

More power to you Mr Rushdie, An inspiration and a beacon of light to all those of us in India who are staunch believers of free speech and against religious extremism !!!

Salman Rushdie is a brave man. He did not retract his visions.
When Dan Brown writes a fictional story using debatable references to non canonical gospels, there are critical push back from Christians. However there's an understanding that a violent reaction goes too far because it goes against Jesus' teachings. When Rushdie writes a fictional story using debatable references in the Quran, the threat of violence from a fanatical Islamist is very real. The Charlie Hebdo tragedy was another reminder. Unfortunately, violence is demonstrated by Muhammad in the Quran and various hadiths all too often.
You said it more than I could have.
and because of folks like the attacker, people like me are now curious to read the book. what could possibly be written, that is so blasphemous? Even Harry Potter did not inspire such level of malice within the Christian community.

What bothers me is that Islam goes against everything that liberals hold dear and yet liberals will defend them no matter what
"If a party goes against the ones we hate, than we welcome it and as far as we are concerned, they are an ally."
I also think that there some bad actors within those librials who still believe for a fusion of state and religion as it used to be during the holy roman times. And since we the EU sepurate religon from the state and killed off the hold the christian faith once held, I think some, still grumpy on what the athiests did to the EU that they decided to invite Islam into the EU

Kind of glad that Salman went on this spate of interviews after the attack to just further cement his victory over that attacker
Regarding his brush with eternity, he said. “I had no revelation, except that there’s no revelation to be had.” Prior to that he said, “I am not a supernatural person.” Still prior to that he said, something to the effect of, I had a dream where I was attacked. The man intuited his own attack then subsequently stated that he’s not a supernatural person. Perhaps Mr. Rushdie should reassess. Seems Someone is trying to get through to him.
