Tanking without a shield is just like Tanking without a shield, there is no analogy to make, because it's pretty hard to be that dense, the dude is a Neutron Star.

I watched that Herod clip multiple times. I still don't understand how all of that happened. Was the guy griefing? Did literally no one know how to play yet somehow formed a group to Armory? Was everyone drunk? Herod has two mechanics. He's....not exactly a huge hurdle. I don't understand.
Nobody did anything on purpose (griefing). The warlock just paniced and instead of doing damage he was just running around in circles until he decided to heartstone out. What actually happened was that shaman totems pulled four elite Myrmadon guards that appear outside the boss arena when you pull Herod.
My guess is, that all or most of them are new to the game. Their voices are fairly young. That one was actually hard to watch.. esp as a German. Oh the embarassment ^^

The biggest problem with hardcore players is that they don't take their life seriously. They should pretty much be roleplaying as frodo who just left the shore(edit- shire rather)and everything is dangerous. Calculate every mob encounter as if you were thinking about fighting the mob in real life. I have no sympathy for someone with autowalk on while alt tabbing that gets killed by a guard. I wouldn't be running down the road in real life with my eyes closed while trying to figure something out

That nefarion fight is a great example of why if I’m tanking and I’m playing a class that can use a shield, I’m using an F’ing shield. Yes it would be more challenging for maintaining threat, but if your dead your threat is zero anyway

I get it though, since good dps makes the fight 10x easier b/c healers arent going oom. If he weapon swapped a shield on as he was going to zerker stance to zerker rage the fear (you could do this w/ shields in vanilla), he prob wouldn't have died though. This whole Fury-Prot stuff was so stupid through classic. It was introduced by a guy who knew what he was doing (he outgeared the content he used it on) but was adapted by so many players who just thought tanking dual wield is great, not knowing anything about the math behind it (like basics of attack tables). The only encounter I remember where it shined was Vaelastrasz due to aggro problems. Anything else went perfectly with deep prot shield tanks. Also: getting Warrior call on Nef and not instantly switching to a shield displays a lot of incompetence. While we did use some Fury-Prots, we forced them to switch to shield when they got a good amount of aggro. There is no reason to get from 200% to 300% while burning through your healers mana.

You alway spec fury/prot to tank, more threat lets dps do more damage, so fights are shorter giving less chance for fuckups or healers going oom. You do need defensive gear though, a good tank knows when to put on more dps or more defense gear. A deep prot warrior with defensive gear will lose aggro to wand dps.

The Nef tank should have gone GSSP as soon as Nef dropped. Then went SnS, and Last Stand because it was warrior call. You're taking 50% more damage than you're used to, losing the 10% from D-stance, gaining 10% more damage taken from zerker and a further 30% from the call itself. Good on the second tank to be second threat, have shield ready and pop GSSP right away. He even ignored the call to go on the adds which is what you need your 2nd threat to do for this very reason.

Our tanks in HC Elite sometimes pop MRP and Reck and dual wield in Phase 3 on Nef but our gear is on a whole nother level. Play it safe brownbois, esp when you have an insane threat-lead already

The epic shild would give like 2.5k armor, enables blocking, enables using shiled block skill which overall reduce surviving chance way more than a stoneshiled potion. Also I have no idea what is the point of tankinf with dual wielding? I don't think it increases dps that much that it worths it. Gear is still tanking gear means no crit chance etc. (if not even more red flag)

Probably these Hardcorders are doing these raids way undergeared. But duel wielding a raid boss outside of defensive stance IN hardcore just sounds insane to me!

I had to try the game because HC is fun. The amount of hard carries I do on a daily basis is annoying as hell. Wow players are so bad at their own game, I remember now why I stopped playing in 2008. They were bad then and are worse now.
If you die as a tank when you don't have a shield equipped it is one hundred percent your fault. Just because streamers tank without shields, it doesn't mean that you can. Streamers have so many requests from healers that they get to be very picky which ones join them. The healers hard carry them so they can play whatever off meta or wonky build and they still blow through content.
How was that warrior tanking BWL in blues? And dual wielding? Was HC not hard enough and the group say fuck it, let's go HC extreme? Now I've dual wielded on trash before just to help with keep threat so DPS could blast, but I was geared out in full tier gear. And my defense was high enough without a shield that I couldn't get crit.

The weapon buffs tell you he's DW'ing during the Nefarian fight.
There is no reason to run fury-prot on HC. Just be more conservative with dps and threat, then you are fine. Fury-prot has too little effective hp.
I got so mad at that Lock, players like that are the reason I will never play HC.

I had to try the game because HC is fun. The amount of hard carries I do on a daily basis is annoying as hell. Wow players are so bad at their own game, I remember now why I stopped playing in 2008. They were bad then and are worse now.
The tank who died on Nefarian had buffs such as intellect and spirit etc, his Stoneshield potion probably got knocked off. Need to use bufftracker

you can´t queu BGs but you can make premade ones (wargames) - you will still permadie in them though

If you die as a tank when you don't have a shield equipped it is one hundred percent your fault.
Just because streamers tank without shields, it doesn't mean that you can. Streamers have so many requests from healers that they get to be very picky which ones join them. The healers hard carry them so they can play whatever off meta or wonky build and they still blow through content.

Now I've dual wielded on trash before just to help with keep threat so DPS could blast, but I was geared out in full tier gear. And my defense was high enough without a shield that I couldn't get crit.
I mean tbh for me getting to 60 is the point of hardcore, once you get there you are playing with house money and when you die it's kind of whatever
