    The most complete explaination about this Touché, and the differences with the SE version are cristal clear, the Midi CC settings limits for example.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    Thanks for sharing this video. Right on par with what I intend to use this device for, i.e. to control orchestral sound libraries. My go to libraries are orchestral tools and spitfire audio, more sparingly project Sam.
    Though your walk-through is finely detailed you somewhat lost me at the crucial point where you discuss riding volume, dynamics, vibrato ... etc within OT. It’s not clear for me whether the SE version would suffice or not for this purpose. I clearly do not need the CV and Midi outputs of the higher-end device, but I think I understood from your explanations that having just one available preset on the Touché SE instead of 24 on the flagship device would make setting up configurations for different sound patches a bit of a hassle, if not a complete nightmare ...
    I guess what I wanna know is if it’s possible to set up the Touché SE to correctly control at least volume, dynamics and vibrato as a standard across all patches within orchestral tools and spitfire audio libraries ? And if not, just how much easier would it be if I have the Touché as opposed to the Touché SE ?
    Thank you for your time, and once again great video !

      Hi! The tricky thing really is that if you want to use MIDI CCs, the SE only gives you one preset. You can certain set those to control whatever parameters you need to control for one manufacturer. But then chances are high that you'd need to set all other instruments from other manufacturers to these CCs, too, because their defaults will likely be different.
      On the non-SE, you could program different presets for different manufacturers. Other than that, there's no difference between the two (aside from the CV and MIDI outputs).
      You could also have a MIDI modifier on all tracks that translates the CCs send by the Touché to whatever that particular library needs. Would be a bit laborious to set up, but it is a one size fits all solution :)

      @@NovatlanSound Hello again ! I appreciate your feedback ... Since this morning I've made progress in my research on the Touché ! My last stop was the in-depth tutorial posted by Expressive-E themselves, devoted to setting up "Lié" for use with an orchestral library (namely OT Ark so just what I was looking for). Unfortunately I was really turned off by how daunting the whole setup procedure appears to be. In fact it 's safe to say that it totally killed my initial enthusiasm. I left them a comment which if I understand correctly might be geared towards you as well (you do work for OT, right ?) : ruclips.net/video/wqOvRJOycCU/видео.html ... I'm interested in hearing back from you, as someone who's already put significant time into setting up Touché for use with OT library patches : Just how time-consuming would you say it really is ? Is it worth the hassle ? Does your typical Touché setup work across multiple OT patches or is it something you pretty much have to fine-tune for each individual patch ? I'm half-half right now about purchasing the device. I've established that it has to be the flagship Touché and not the SE version on account of the number of available presets in standalone mode, so more expensive that I would've liked, but it's the workflow that's holding me back. On the one hand it does look a bit long and tedious to get a patch up and running, so I'm afraid it might quickly do my head in ... and on the other I have to admit that the controller looks absolutely brilliant and so much more natural and appealing than trying to ride volume / expression / vibrato ... etc, with as many individual faders. Cheers !

      I do wish this was replied to one last time. As I am in this same position w the same library and would've found it most useful to know the outcome. Thank you for your in depth research

      Hi Mike, stumbled upon your comment: It's 4 CCs plus pitch bend for the SE, 8 CCs plus pitch bend for the flagship Touché.

    Great video but I'm not understanding something. Can the Touche SE work with Spitfire libraries for example? If they are only Midi CC values, will it still be assignable on the SE? Lastly, do you get to assign up to 8 different values with the SE or is it limited to just 4?

    • @NovatlanSound
      @NovatlanSound  4 года назад +2

      Yes, it can! It outputs a set of CCs, which you can assign to whatever parameter in a plugin you want. The non-SE is just a bit easier to use because it lets you have multiple of those CC sets, that you can switch between. I'm afraid I do not have an SE here anymore, but I believe, it is limited to 4 controlled values internally. But externally you can map each of those to as many controller as you like.

      Mainly for drawing in CC curves, because I don't like riding faders. Also it comes in handy for shortcuts via its circular menu, though I use that less nowadays thanks to the StreamDecks ;)

    Thank you for the informative video! Would it be possible to connect this device directly to the "MIDI in" on another traditional keyboard that perhaps doesn't have a pitch bend or wheel? The idea would be to use the Touché as a controller directly to another keyboard (with no computer involved). I assume you would need some form of USB host in order to translate the MIDI out (which is USB) into the traditional MIDI in port. And even if you got that to work, I think the challenge would be how to map the CC numbers (without a computer). The people on my channel have asked for a device that can provide "pitch bend" for the Nord Electro 6 which doesn't have a pitch bend controller built-in. The only way to do that today is to incorporate another keyboard that has a pitch bend option and connect that via MIDI like this: ruclips.net/video/YRYJf2J4fO4/видео.html Any tips or ideas you have here would be most appreciated. Thanks and keep up the good work.

    • @NovatlanSound
      @NovatlanSound  4 года назад +1

      Yes, that should be possible, though honestly I think there are better options for "just" a pitch wheel. But that should work fine.
      In that case you would just map the CCs once and store them on the device. You could (on the non-SE) even store multiple presets for different CC setups.

      @@NovatlanSound Thanks for your reply! If you know of a better device that could be used "just" as a pitch bend, I'd be very interested. I was not able to locate one. Thanks again...
