I dont see anything other than drive health which is healthy, Nothing about remaining life, But i've had mine for years and seem good, I know i need to replace em with 2 1tb ssds, Since i have 3 for games, And an extra nvme never hurts even if its in the slot with half the speed, Another great video brian ! 😇
Thanks Brian you always seem to come up with stuff I did not know about even though I have been into computing for many years and have always accessed your tutorials since Windows 7 days - and building etc😀
Another good video. Hope all is well with you and the family. Take care!
Same to you Rich
@@Britec09 Thanks mate, hopefully one day we will talk again. All the best. Rich
THANKS! i dont think i knew this! i do use crystal disc, love it
What a convoluted mess hey Microsoft how about right click on the drive properties right there it could be right there
The new "Settings" replacement for Control Panel is very click-inefficient, and more often than not sends you round in circles, never getting you to the place you wanted to get to in the first place. This new touch-friendly interface needs a lot of work.
Cheers, mate. Double whammy!
Still 96% on mine :)
I always say that you'll never wear out your SSD since at some point your PC will be changed to something else
This seems to be for Windows 11 only - In the video and the description you said it's the same for Windows 10 but after Settings --> Storage there's no option for Disks & Volumes. I've got Windows 10 Pro (22H2). Thanks.
@Britec09 Cool music at the end 😎 👌
With SSD drives i use the tools that the provider has made. With that you can do other things to trim the drive to the best as you want it.
Hi Brian I love to watch your videos Q?
can I switch disk numbers
example I have windows 10 installed on NVME slot
it shows DISK 2 Can I switch disk 2 to be Disk 0?
Is there anything can be done if/when SSD drive starts failing? Can it be reformatted or paperweight?
Although a paid software., one step further is .. Spinrite 6.1 is now available.. for those with dying drives.. SSD diagnostics and other info
I don't think that this is about people not knowing things like performance monitor exist. It is just that people do not understand them (rightfully) due to the old and horrific ui, especially when comparing to today's 3rd party app UIs.

So you're saying that's it, other than this basic information there's no Diagnostics required on an SSD?
My ssd drivers just shows online and nothing else. The properties do not show drive health
The only important thing to do is to do is regular, thorough, backups. SMART in particular has never successfully predicted a drive failure for me, and I have many drives fail over the years, always suddenly and without any warnings.
SMART, in my opinion, is for entertainment purposes only, and relying on it is DUMB.
I disagree, I've seen plenty of still functioning hard drives that had smart failures , at which you had plenty of time to replace the drive. But that was mechanical drives, I'm not sure what value it has for ssds
Yeah, in my experience SSDs die spontaneously, whereas HDDs show signs of failure way before they stop working entirely. One day i was formatting an SSD and it just killed itself with no prior warning. HDDs make clicking noises and get bad sectors before completely dying
Samsung Magician does it all and more for free for all Samsung SSD and older HDD, cost a bit more but last very long without any issues.
