      @@Learn_astrophotography I forget to say too, great Bubble nebula image, for me it’s all about collecting the data, and watching those subs coming in, I don’t enjoy the processing as much, although I now use pixinsight, and that has its own deep learning curve.
      Clear skies pal 👍🏻

      Thanks so much, I’m not a big fan of processing but I am enjoying it a little more each time, it is all about the data for sure 👌

    One thing to note, Tom …be careful when mounting the ASIAir to the side of the mount. According to some ZWO posts there are ways to mount it properly and improperly. I’ve seen cases where things get damaged based on the particular equipment used. I’ll try to see if I can find some of those posts/info if you wish. I just mounted it to the dovetail of my telescope to be safe but I have seen others mount it to the side and be OK,

    • @Learn_astrophotography
      @Learn_astrophotography  7 месяцев назад

      Interesting, I’ll look into that too. Let me know if you find what it was. Hopefully I did everything correct 🤣😂🤣

      @@Learn_astrophotographyIt was a post on an astronomy forum (in September 2022) where ZWO issued “…an official warning in regards to removing the finder shoe on the side of the mount and screwing the screws ALL the way back.” As it may damage cables within the mounts housing. In the first two paragraphs it states, “…The finder shoe which was originally attached on the mount's side panel can be used to install green laser pointer or polar scope, but cannot be used to install ASIAIR box - the USB cable or ASIAIR antenna might get pinched or even damaged due to the possible large rotation angle in the AM5's use …If you'd like to install the ASIAIR, you can take off the little finder shoe from the side panel and then connect it to the mount's dovetail saddle plate.” If you need a link to the forum and the image of the warning, send me a PM and I’ll get that to you. I’m just not sure if I’m supposed to refrain from posting outside links within the RUclips comments section or not. I don’t really do a lot of RUclips comments 😜 Clear skies!

    Great video, I'm a box hoarder as well🙂I've been looking at building another rig (you can never have too many scopes) but something portable that I can chuck in the back of the car, the AM5 does seem to fit the bill nicely.

      thanks for the comment, we do love a box don't we 🤣 this will be great as a travel scope, its well worth considering. i haven't field tested yet but i'm sure like all the ZWO products it will work great 😁

      Thanks Peter, yeah it is a pricey hobby for sure, I work on average about 80 hours a week so it’s nice to treat myself and get a nice reward I’m pretty happy with the new rigs, now it’s time to get some hours under the dark sky ☺️

      @@Learn_astrophotography All we need is the clear skies now, I live in irish Republic, borttle 3 skies, but plenty of clouds , I've been a visual astronomer for 50 odd years, been doing astrophotography as well for past 4 years, massive learning curve but keep at it,,rewards are great.

      @@peterturner1919 I know right, it’s been a bad few months now, nice dark skies in Ireland, I’m in a borttle 4 area but it feels pretty dark here in the village. I use the l-pro filter which does help a bit too. You must have seen some changes with equipment in that time! I remember getting my first mobile phone at 18, you couldn’t do anything with it not like today, I used to go to my photo developer shop to put my film in so I could see what pictures I’d even taken. Technology is great if used correctly 😀 glad I found the hobby love it

    Great video, Tom! I’ve been getting into astrophotography over the past year. I’ve got the AM5, ASIAIR Plus (256 GB) and ASI533MC Pro (cooled) camera to go with my William Optics ZenithStar 61 telescope. Really loving the setup! I’ve subscribed to the channel and looking forward to hearing more about your journey with the new gear. I can use all the help I can get 😜 Making mistakes, having some wins but loving every minute of it (when I can get clear skies, that is 😂).

    Really nice picture Tom. I have the AM5 as well as I had back surgery and cannot lift my AZEQ 6 mount anymore. The AM5 works great with my RASa8, my edge hd 8 as well as my C9.25. Enjoy your channel very much. I’m diabetic too but I hope I can last longer than a year. I have more astro gear to pick up at NEAF. Luis from New York.
