I work in that area and i see a lot of Millenials struggling because everything changed but they are programmed to be repeating the same patterns, to boicot their own happiness, that they cannot find a true connection because the other millenials are married, centennials are not very demonstrative and the other single millennials are just as fucked up.

this scene reminds me of when, after 11 years of ups and downs, i finally put the brakes on a man, cut him out of my life for the final time. i felt so strong and proud of myself for getting off that merry go round, no more of him needing/wanting me when the chips were down etc. i still cared about him but i realized that he was never going to be the kind of man i wanted, needed and deserved. that was the last time i saw him; he died four years later.

He tried to reach out 6 month after we broke up but I ignored his messages and then he disappeared from my life, I am still recovering and I am still learning to rebuild a life that was constructed around him but I am very proud of myself. It takes a lot of courage to make the decision to walk a way from someone you really love
And this should have been the final scene in that on and off chapter that was Carrie and Big. And girls who get played and used instead of the commitment they hope for, deserve a closing scene like this in real life.

May be he means it and this time he will treat me right but I don't want to be with a man who treated me like trash for 13 years to realise that I deserved better.

People act like Carrie ending up with Big undoes the magic of this scene. BUT I think if Carrie hadn’t exploded at him like this, they never could have been together long-term. She needed to put him in his place and make him think he’d lost her to FINALLY clock all the shit he’d put her through. It’s a really important moment for his character arc and brings him closer to being the man she deserves. I’m not sure I’m 100% pro Big and Carrie being together, but I do think this is a powerful moment for Carrie and I don’t think it’s undone by later events.
I don't usually respond to comments, plz don't hate on me lol. But even though Carrie did put him in his place and make him realise just what he would be losing, that didn't change him because he still ended up playing with her heart on the wedding day. It feels like even after this confrontation, their relationship remained the same where he has to get what he wants exactly how he wants it and he has no regard for Carrie's feelings or for how he mistreats her.
Those powerful move can only change a man for a moment. When those kind of man realize they have you back they become who they really are: a man who didn’t truly love Carrie nor did he ever wanted to marry her ( hence why he jilted her at the altar Ayer knowing her for 10 years!). When she was with aiden, big wanted her, after breaking up with aiden he never even wanted to start a relationship, and now that he's with the Paris guy, (Not single) he wants her. Because he can't have her. I don't like big nor carrie. My fav. Couple is Steve and Miranda and Charlotte and Harry...with Samantha my fav character.
I love the role reversal in this. Big asking the exact same question she did "You're going to Paris and didn't tell me?" Plus, the role reversal in the second movie where she kisses Aiden. Big and Carrie having an affair breaking Aiden's heart, now she's stressing on telling Big and he knows what it's like to be cheated on. Aiden deserved so much better, but these two were both toxic. They belonged together.
Carrie should have known by the fact that she was afraid to return his calls and get in his car that she still loved him, but this scene is magic and SJP delivers it beautifully.
I feel like Big is not a jerk but just someone who is just not into her, and his behaviour is a general human behaviour, you want something when you can’t have it. The ending of this series should have been this episode, but she should have moved to paris for herself, and not for a man, and definitely not for a guy like patrovsky/preston
I think he was very into her but he she was too needy for him and she wasn't classy enough, and he for sure wanted a classy lady like Natasha and wasnt happy that he liked Carrie so much. I think everytime they were apart he realized he missed her. Carrie should've given up on him long ago still, though she could've just worked on her extreme neediness which isn't an attractive quality in general. Just look at how easily she fell for Petrovskis cheesy behaviours and uprooted her entire life to be with him in Paris... Needy.

I read that this was apparently the last scene they shot for the series and SJP said it was eerie the last thing she said was "I dont live here anymore". Because the series was really done.
I think Carrie never let big talk. Just slow down and talk and think and say what he was thinking and feeling. She always pushed, pulled and shut him down. Over and over he tried to tell her EXACTLY what he was thinking, feeling, wanting, not wanting and she just never SHUT UP and LISTENED.
There was nothing to listen here. His actions for the past 6 years spoke for themselves: he didn’t value Carrie. No amount of “I love you “ would change that. She should have not even sit in his car.

People act like Carrie ending up with Big undoes the magic of this scene.
BUT I think if Carrie hadn’t exploded at him like this, they never could have been together long-term. She needed to put him in his place and make him think he’d lost her to FINALLY clock all the shit he’d put her through. It’s a really important moment for his character arc and brings him closer to being the man she deserves.
I’m not sure I’m 100% pro Big and Carrie being together, but I do think this is a powerful moment for Carrie and I don’t think it’s undone by later events.
I don't usually respond to comments, plz don't hate on me lol. But even though Carrie did put him in his place and make him realise just what he would be losing, that didn't change him because he still ended up playing with her heart on the wedding day. It feels like even after this confrontation, their relationship remained the same where he has to get what he wants exactly how he wants it and he has no regard for Carrie's feelings or for how he mistreats her.

When those kind of man realize they have you back they become who they really are: a man who didn’t truly love Carrie nor did he ever wanted to marry her ( hence why he jilted her at the altar Ayer knowing her for 10 years!). And I agree with the other poster, he probably have cheated on her during the Marriage because he never expressed shame when cheating on his 2 ex wife’s.
But I agree with you that if she had been that assertive with him since the beginning, he would have respected her more.
This was the best and most emotional part of the whole Series. This was it!!! Lord have mercy can we get a Oscar fa this part alone?... I still Love them as a couple tho.

Because he can't have her. I don't like big nor carrie. My fav. Couple is Steve and Miranda and Charlotte and Harry...with Samantha my fav character.

I love the role reversal in this. Big asking the exact same question she did "You're going to Paris and didn't tell me?" Plus, the role reversal in the second movie where she kisses Aiden. Big and Carrie having an affair breaking Aiden's heart, now she's stressing on telling Big and he knows what it's like to be cheated on. Aiden deserved so much better, but these two were both toxic. They belonged together.

I think he was very into her but he she was too needy for him and she wasn't classy enough, and he for sure wanted a classy lady like Natasha and wasnt happy that he liked Carrie so much. I think everytime they were apart he realized he missed her. Carrie should've given up on him long ago still, though she could've just worked on her extreme neediness which isn't an attractive quality in general. Just look at how easily she fell for Petrovskis cheesy behaviours and uprooted her entire life to be with him in Paris... Needy.

I read that this was apparently the last scene they shot for the series and SJP said it was eerie the last thing she said was "I dont live here anymore". Because the series was really done.
I think Carrie never let big talk. Just slow down and talk and think and say what he was thinking and feeling. She always pushed, pulled and shut him down. Over and over he tried to tell her EXACTLY what he was thinking, feeling, wanting, not wanting and she just never SHUT UP and LISTENED.

They love each other, that's obvious. But for 6 years Big did a lot of terrible things, so I'm not surprised that she's tired of this. I also love what will happen next. Big will do sth what he shoulded to do from the very beggining. I recommend the last two epizodes.
Hmmm it’s not obvious at all that he loves her. Very attracted to her, yes. But never to be confused with love. He showed times and again that she wasn’t precious to him.

Because he still wasn’t sure ( after 10 years knowing her) And he still couldn’t compromise and give her the big wedding that she wanted. Just one day in his life, let her have the ridiculous wedding ( small price to pay if she’s the love of his life).
She didn’t want him to know which is great. He should’ve just shown up and she’s gone, empty apartment, and he finds out from her friends. That would’ve been wild after all he did.
